The lad certainly hasn't been brilliant since he returned but neither has he let us down. Brings us a solid option on the left-side and also a decent set-piece as well.

I doubt he'll be around next season but he has another 3 games to show that he's worth keeping as a useful left-sided utility player.

I really hope he is here next season. Interesting that in the games he has featured in, he has been the main set piece taker and done a pretty good job, can also cross a ball too. I'd much rather him playing LM than McCulloch, put it that way.

Has to go LB tonight though surely......

Don't know Jon, WS may just keep the changes to a minimum, with Miller out

I'd love it if he was with us next season and given a decent shot at regainging the LB position. LM certainly doesn't suit him. It's not the lads fault though I suppose. He's another player in the long list of players playing out of position.

I am baffled why he has been selected at LM recently ahead of others who have been available all season. His 2nd game since coming back he was terrible.

Agree with Gav, if he is here next season then great but only as a LB.

Smith is useful whenever the team needs a more solid outlook. While he's not exciting going forward he negates the opposition wide players enough to allow us to play through Mendes and Davis (our supposed best creative players).

However, sometimes, such a solid outlook is not necessary and more creative, forward thinking players are required (i.e. the 2nd half last night).

Should we have started with a more offensive player there against Hibs? Possibly, but none of the players we've used there this season have convinced either so the argument is somewhat moot.

In fact, given the attitude of the players (and the apparent motivational problems) it is far from certain a Novo, Fleck, Beasley or Aaron would have helped the team in that first half.
