calscot 0
Last signing you were genuinely excited about. And we're all telling each other that we are wrong because there wasn;t a collective exctiment. We all need to go back and read the thread. The point I was making was that everyone immediately said the obvious of Laudrup and Gazza, but I just wanted people to rethink about whether they were actually genuinely excited by them, because a lot of people weren't at the time. The knee jerk reaction is to think about players who really excited you well after they arrived rather than at the time they signed. I wasn't saying who was right and wrong.
calscot 0
PS The thread is a bit ambiguous anyway as it started: Last Transfer you were genuinley excited about ? Who in the past has got you excited about signing for Rangers. So it's not that clear.

Fair point and I wasn't just targeting you. Think I was equally as guilty. You are quite right though, people are maybe thinking of players who were exciting to watch rather than an exciting signing at the momment of their purchase.
craig 5,199
I can honestly say that I was genuinely excited at Gazza signing.
craig 5,199
PS The thread is a bit ambiguous anyway as it started: So it's not that clear. It isnt ? "last" and "past" are both historical terms, no ? "Last" signing infers who is the most recent signing who excited "past" infers much the same thing Or am I missing something ? Either way, I am arguing semantics, sorry.

As a programmer it's completely different... To me past refers everything in the past, last is the most recent of everything in the past. If you put every player you were exited about in a list or a sequence in chronological order the last one would be specifically at the end. Where as player that excited you in the past could be any of the players in the list. In CVS terms, the last would be the "HEAD" and the past would be pretty much everything in the repository... In accountancy surely the last "last" balance would be distinguishable from a "past" balance sheet? Edited April 24, 2009 by calscot
