Dorman's hardly a secret is, being arguably the form player of the past couple of months.

27 though. Where's he been hiding the past few years?

Didn't realise so many of his goals had come in the past few games. Are we even talking about a wonder season here? Or just a half season? Genuine question as I don't see St Mirren that often.

He has been playing in USA, Mo Johnston recommended him to St Mirren

Yes gone are the days when we spend 70M more than we had in a few seasons. They will never return and I'm pretty happy about that. I don't want our club to become a Leeds or Gretna.

So we're now emulating the days of Struth and Wallace by picking up players locally.

I'm not one of the guy's who rubbishes a signing just because he's scottish or playing in the SPL. Quite the reverse. The SPL is our bread and butter, so signing the cream of the talent in the league makes sense. For example I would have looked to get Berra in as Boogie's partner. Play beside a quality pro and learn from Weir and Dailly. :box:

I don't remember anyone talking about Dorman until a couple of months ago though, if that. A wee goal scoring run, a purple patch, and suddenly he's the biggest talent in the league?

If we made all our signings on that basis we'd have Fletcher, Shiels, Riordan, Reynolds, McGinn etc as the main stay of our squad.

I'd prefer to cherry-pick the best as we have done before with Goram and Brown etc.

Yes "mistakes" will be made, like Gow. That is the risk in any transfer. But in staying local (the SPL) we have a better idea of how they'll fit in. Unlike a Sionko or a Capucho who come with a bigger name.
