The bananas at the Man City game last night

Recommended Posts

What was the story behind the bananas? Every 2nd fan had 1.

I think it harks back to the 80's when inflatables (sic) were all the rage. Man City fans embraced the banana and have been taking them ever since. Think their fans asked for everyone going last night to bring along an inflatable banana with them!

Great idea! I thought it was because a player had maybe came out in the press and said he eats bananas all day or something along those lines. :D

They used to be all the rage - remember an OF game at Parkhead where the Rangers end was awash with inflateables (ranging from bananas, red hands, blow up dolls, champagne bottles and the likes)....

Think some clubs and stadiums banned them due to health and safety....!
