Gers Injury Problems Continue

Recommended Posts

WALTER SMITH has confirmed that DaMarcus Beasley and Sasa Papac will miss Saturday's SPL clash against Motherwell.

TBeasley had to go off injuredhe pair were first-half casualties in tonight's 2-1 win over St. Mirren with Papac needing five stitches to an ankle knock and Beasley taken to hospital with a rib problem.

Rangers will find out the full extent of both injuries tomorrow but Smith praised his team for digging deep to get a vital win against Gus MacPherson's men.

He said: "I thought in the first-half we played some very good football and we were delighted with the two goals we scored.

"The first was an excellent move while the second was a terrific header from Mo.

"So we were pleased to go in at half-time two goals up, especially as we lost both DaMarcus and Sasa in the early stages.

"We had to adjust to that and it looks as though both will miss Saturday's game against Motherwell.

"In the second-half we allowed St. Mirren back in to the game with a disappointing goal and that made for a nervy finish.

"But we held on and I though we deserved the points overall.

"We have now won two tricky away games in a row and we have had injury problems to deal with along the way.

"We now have to keep this run going."

Hopefully we play Steven Smith instead of Dailly at left back.

Broadfoot will miss the rest of the season as well apparently and I believe Boyd will miss the Celtic game due to suspension.

Dailly will play centre forward against the MOPES then :)

Certainty to be Velicka given his better ability at holding the ball and his decent record against them while at Hearts.

Aye, he did ok when he came on last night, considering the time he got, another player who should be busting a gut to play the remaining games

If WS decides to play Dailly at LB when we have a natural LB in Stevie Smith then that'll be the decision that turns a lot of fans away from renewing STs.

I wait with anticipation what selection WS goes with on Saturday, although I bet it doesn't include Stevie Smith.

If he doesn't ply Steven Smith, then he will play Whittaker @ LB with Dailly @ RB

Stevie Smith has no chance of playing at the weekend IMO. It will be Dailly, which is criminal.

I was saying last night that Brown is suspended for 2 after the break and whether the SPL would organise it such that he didnt miss the OF game. But if Bougherra and Boyd are also to be suspended then you can guarantee that they will organise it so that Boyd and Bougherra are out for the OF game - especially as we need Bougherra probably more than they need Brown.

If Broadfoot is out and Bougherra injured we actually are getting thin on the ground for CB's. Papac injured too (not that I would want him at CB). The only real option I see is Webster - yet you can guarantee that Smith will play Dailly at CB or McCulloch, even if not fully fit - instead of Webster who is a natural CB.
