Pointless exercise. The two league games should have been designated additionally as home and away legs of the Final.
Did you know it was Rangers who are to blame? ?

Barcelona vs Steaua was another poor final.

Gornik gave us a football lesson Lubanski was different class.
He was unlucky to miss the 1974 World Cup through injury but Poland still finished 3rd without him.

Came on after 73 minutes. set up their best chance of an equaliser going by the highlights.

Pompey have been on good form so they may not want to change a winning side.

We took advantage of the cross border rules on youth development to get his a lot cheaper than his true worth. That's why Bowyer et al were so annoyed.
I believe he's on a substantial wage with respect to his value and, if he continues the standard he's contributed so far, then we should be able to make a decent wedge on him.
Yes I understand the reason we got him so cheap. I noticed yesterday that another ex-Charlton manager (Powell) was having a pop at Rangers/Scottish football saying Aribo should not have come here.

£300,000? That's daylight robbery.

Great goal; during the game I didn't really notice Jack's excellent tackle that won possession initially. A goal with three assists.

That was a poor goal to give away but you can tell our players are back into first gear now. Hopefully Docherty and Jones help to up the pace but I don't care now. We just need to get through this with no injuries or any more bookings.
They're a good match for us when they are 3-0 down.

You and I saw that game very differently then. I thought they looked very comfortable in playing the ball out from the back and they looked terrific going forward. Their movement was really good and we just couldn't keep up with them. I do agree that they looked much stronger but I didn't see any fouls that weren't my awarded.
Most definitely we saw different games.

3-0 already for Spartack.?
Finished that way. Not really a fair reflection of the game but they were physically stronger than us. Sad to see the officials allowing such 'leeway' at this level.

They are hammer throwers who were relying on the long ball for much of the first-half. The second goal was a foul but the referee is a homer.

I'll take my lunch at that time and watch it. It should be a great game of football. Both teams like to play a fast paced passing game so should be exciting to watch, and a great way for me to warm up for the game later.
Don't forget to warm down after tonight's game.
Edit: Thanks ian1964.

Nope, 1969.
One good thing, I doubt Legia have a player like Lubanski.

If you are referring to the 87 match, did we not beat Gornik 4-2 on aggregate? We also played Katowice after that in the old UEFA cup (88-89 season) and gubbed them to
Tsk...I forgot that. Didn't see it I was abroad. I meant the 1969 (ish) tie.

Is this the first Polish side we have played since Gornik? Never forget them; I was gutted when they beat us. It was my first big European disappointment.

If Tav is going it shouldn't be in January when we may be preparing for the final push on the title. We want to release such a key player at such a key time? No thanks.
Next Summer is more sensible giving us some time to bed in a replacement with a full pre season.
He should stay; could mean Champions League football and even the chance to play in the World Cup with Scotland! Not a very good chance, admittedly. ?

I'd agree, but he showed inconsistency by not booking a similar challenge on Ojo (?) a few minutes later.
Can't argue with that. Hibs could easily have picked up several more bookings had there been consistency.

That'll be Nikola Katic.

Katic’s booking was fully deserved. Ojo’s not so much.
The referee had no choice but to book Katic; as obvious a yellow as you'll see. I'm surprised anybody would criticise the ref over that one.

Great to see Ojo finally win over some fans too. He was quality and it was always going to be a matter of time before it started to show. And we finally have attacking midfielders who are left footed and cutting in from the right (Stewart too) with Tavernier overlapping. We often looked a bit to rigid and traditional with Candeias on the right, he occupied the same space as Tavernier.
I don't think there has been any doubt about the quality of Ojo's footballing ability; it's his decision making that's looked the issue for me. Yesterday he looked much sharper, particularly first half, and I think I few other players are stealing his thunder from yesterday's game where he was involved in at least three of the goals.

For the record, Jones is proving me, and a lot of other fans, wrong. I wasn't overly excited by his signing, he still has a lot to do, but so far so good, I love it when a player proves me wrong by his performances. Must keep up his good start to the season.
Yes I'm always happy to be made to look a fool after I've criticised a Rangers player. I thought Jones looked very predictable but these last couple of games he has been terrific.

Great game and we just outclassed them. Jack was MOTM for me he was everywhere. Obviously Defoe, Jones Davis and Aribo all deserve a mention. I hate to say it but I don't think the Jones free kick was a penalty, I think Beaton called it correctly. It was a millimetre decision but for me the part of the boot that committed the foul was outside the box meaning Jones was outside the box. The hand ball was also never a penalty in my eyes. I also think if Tom Miller and Ian Durrant have to watch it 3 times to decide then Beaton can't be blamed for a snap decision.
Even if there was VR they'd have to look at that several times (before turning down the penalty claim). Ian Durrant saying it was a stonewaller was just wrong.

Another excellent display. That's normal service resumed against our two bogey teams from last year.

While I can't see Midtjylland scoring three clear goals at Ibrox, I would say that the tie is not yet over. The "good" thing is that they will have to come and score now, which will probably open a few spaces for us to exploit. You would hope that they do not get an early goal though.
*feet firmly at the ground Loyal*
I'd be very surprised if we came close to losing this now but I would have said the same about Kilmarnock and that Welsh team.

Even if there is prejudice towards Rangers and their players I will not surrender my support. Hopefully he'll stick with Scotland.
