match thread (image) [FT] Aberdeen 1 - 1 Rangers (McCrorie 63)
TheUKCrazyhorse replied to cooponthewing's topic in Rangers Chat
I actually thought that last night, defensively, we didn't look too bad for a change. I don't remember Aberdeen really causing many problems on the attack and the saves Alnwick made were all fairly comfortable (and the crossbar helped as well). I know that could be down to Aberdeen being sh*te as well though. -

Steven Gerrard is the new Rangers manager
TheUKCrazyhorse replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
You actually read it? You're a better man than me if you did. -
We've removed them from most of the front/back pages already this week, which must kill them, given they've just won the league!

That link I posted above is free - it looks like a text update for now though, so not sure if you'll get a video feed or not. -

I mean yeah, I guess Tony Vidmars goal against Parma in 1999 was a cracker... -

That's a great tweet from Gazza by the way. I feel old looking at that photo though -

I don't think anyone is being asked to take the day off work to go and welcome Stevie, party hat on head, streamers in hand. And understandably a lot of folk are nervous about the appointment. But it now looks like he is definitely going to be our new manager, so we all need to get behind him and give him our support - because without it he WILL fail. And it is excellent listening to all the Mick's going into meltdown about this. I'm sitting in work at this moment, listening to a bunch of them talking about Gerrard/Rangers just now, rather than about their own club and achievements and it's obvious that they are sh*tting themselves. -

Well, it was pretty obvious he'd come to us at some point - he is Stevie GERrard isn't he? Not like he's Stevie BHOYard! It's written in the stars! (Pleasebeagoodappointmentpleasebeagoodappointmentpleasebeagoodappointmentplease...) -
Which must be further evidence that, despite all the other issues that might be plaguing the club just now, the youth setup isn't part of the problem.

Takeover Panel granted court order against Dave King
TheUKCrazyhorse replied to alskoosher's topic in Rangers Chat
Taking aside any possible repercussions for King (like jail time) - what actually happens if he doesn't pay? What happens to the shares they're trying to force him to buy? Do they just stay with their current owner? -
Unwarranted is a great word for it. If you watch them against any other team in the league, they're decent, but hardly world class. When they play us though, they go all out to embarass us. Rodgers had a cheek to accuse any other team of only upping their game in the big matches. Hamilton held them to 1-1 for most of a half FFS, before they managed a winner.

It is frustrating, but I'd rather they took their time with an anouncement, than put out a half-arsed one, like they have been recently. The anouncement linked above isn't too bad actually. At least it seems to suggest that Murty will be given the option of his old job back, so at least he won't be completely cut adrift. Whether he accepts it or not though...

Graeme Murty 'relieved of his duties' as Rangers manager
TheUKCrazyhorse replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Johansson could probably still pull on a shirt - guy looks like he's hardly aged a day since he did play for us. I doubt Jimmy would find one that fits though -

I can't help but feel sorry for the guy. I'm not excusing him for any of his tactical choices (or lack of) in some of the recent games, but the fact is, he stepped up to the mark to take charge of the mess that was left after Ped was removed from the post. And the mess that was left after Warburton left. Yes, he was out of his depth, but the performances by the players recently haven't exactly helped his cause either, not to mention recent, badly timed statements regarding his position by the board. And after it all, it appears that he's been hung out to dry by the club as well and has probably (although it has yet to be confirmed) lost his job too, meaning his livelihood is at risk. Despite his 'fame' (infamy?) he still has bills to pay like you or I. This might not be the popular opinion on here, but I'll say it anyway; I'd like to thank him for the work he did over the last few months - regardless of the way things have ended up (a win over Them at Ibrox a few weeks ago and these conversations could've been vastly different) - and I hope he manages to get himself back into work soon and pick himself back up. -

The u17's team scudded Celtic 3-0 in the Glasgow Cup, so I guess we can rule out the youth system as the root of any problems at the club. Maybe we should promote the full u17's to the senior squad for the rest of the season?

I don't want him back, like everyone else. And as much as I had a chuckle at how absurd this story was (among all the other similar stories I've heard about Pena) the guy clearly has issues.

Teams up for Sunday - its on the Record site, but as long as they aren't telling porkies, it looks like they got it from Murty himself. -

You want the element of surprise - start O'Halloran instead of Windass. I actually half-wonder if Murty was giving us a hint that he might start him, by bringing him on as a sub last Sunday. I think he'd give us the same pace and penetration that Windass does (on a good day), but be less of a passenger. -
Poll: Steven Gerrard as Rangers manager - Yea or Nay?
TheUKCrazyhorse replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Broadly agree with you - don't know if I agree that we're xenophobic though. I think the issue is, we can bring all the foreign coaches/managers in we want and change our own style, but we can't change the way other teams play. If every other team parks the bus, no amount of fancy footwork will make a difference. -

McCoist was on £825k back in the days when we were completely skint (before he took a wage cut). We're not exactly rolling in cash these days, but I'd like to think we're doing better than we were 3-4 years ago. If we're offering less for a manager now, the club either needs to pony up for a decent calibre of manager, or we all need to lower our expectations of who we can afford to bring in.
