  1. Up against a world class goalkeeper yet again. So many of them in Scotland
  2. Certainly a few candidates on Saturday, but I opted for Scotty Arfield. Brilliant energy and drive when he came on and was very unlucky not to have had a brace.
  3. Nor would they have agreed to a 40% sell-on fee, that’s seems a bit foolish.
  4. Straight forward. Plastic pitch but it’s a knockout so they’ll have to play - I’m confident we should win by a couple of goals at least.
  5. Any of the 3 should be comfortable for us. In non-COVID times I’d have loved to draw Servette, they are just along the road from me. But, given we are still living in the pandemic world, I hope we get a home draw - just to guarantee there are no issues for the players.
  6. For a brief few weeks, Jones had the fan base asking “Ryan who?” If anybody remembers that, it wasn’t long ago. It could also be argued that we have already replaced Alfredo with a strike partnership of Roofe and Itten, and don’t forget our top goal scorer from last season is back soon. I am playing devil’s advocate here but, we could still be very capable of challenging, with up to £35m in the bank allowing us to bring in the last piece of the jigsaw - a dynamic attacking midfielder. Quids in if all goes well. If not, a kitty is available to bankroll the next manager. FWIW, I’d prefer to keep Kent and Morelos and find that AM, but I could see it go completely the other way.
  7. The Roofe goal changed the game IMO, relaxed us (players and fans) and was therefore the biggest contribution to the game, however Kent was immense and MOTM for me especially considering the fact that he gave everything and remained 100% focused on his job despite a bid from an EPL club
  8. Great article and enjoyable read from @Fat Eck ? There should be some positivity with our current form, it is improving, slowly perhaps, but we're getting closer. However, supporters don't have the patience these days, especially when that lock are winning every honour going whilst we're playing catch up. The problem is that competition in this league is now the worst it's ever been, really it's non-existent, so a couple of draws and it's a huge crisis and sack the manager time. I do see where folk are coming from. Times have changed, just look at the 9iar seasons, we dropped so many points and seldom were we capable of going on a sustained run of 10 or more wins, it didn't happen very often. Only in one or two of those seasons did we start as well with 3 wins and a draw. Those results back then wouldn't get us very far now, there's too big a gap and nobody is capable of taking many points from us and them. It's small margins now and a few dropped points by either us or them and we're in trouble. Sad indictment of where football is in this country. The quicker a cross-border league is set-up the better IMO.
  9. I’m not one that buys into this. Moving the ball quicker and a better understanding between the players is more likely to yield results. The players we have need to be stronger and more fearless, yes, but it’s the ability to move the ball from back to front quicker and pressing higher that will determine whether we are successful or not. We seems to have abandoned that high press, defending from the front and quick passing that we have done well with on occasion, but I haven’t seen it for a while.
  10. Opportunity missed today, but it’s just not football on that surface which mimics something between hot tar and ice, absolutely abysmal. I think it’s best to put that behind us, I’m certainly not going to judge the potential of our players or season on that game on that surface.
  11. Couldn’t agree more! The plastic surface is only a leveler if we let it be. Dictate the tempo and make them dizzy from the first whistle and we should be comfortable by HT.
  12. Hoping we're at least two goals up by the 60th minute as I'd like to see Itten and/or Roofe get some minutes.
  13. Edmundson to start for me. Did very well pre-season and deserves his chance with Balogun sidelined and I wouldn't risk Helander on the plastic surface especially as it's a foot injury he's recovering from. We should be destroying Livi tomorrow given their early form, I just hope the script isn't written for Dykes to prove a point.
