But, something we have not discussed on here (I don't think) and may not be supported by many, is the notion that Celtic lost the title last season because they were even more is disarray that we are now. 25points margin could suggest otherwise, but I don't know. Do we have a squad with the right mentality AND capability to deliver the tactical instructions given to them? Gerrard indirectly may have hinted at this when complaining about spending nothing in his last 2 windows and then jumps ship so not to tarnish his reputation when the first decent job comes along.

I don't know what he's like with the squad off-camera, but I agree he seems to be more calm than crazy and will let rationale and action deliver the message. The three HT substitutions should be an indicator of that, but I just don't know if that alone will suffice. Getting every ounce of determination from players is easier said than done, and it also depends on whether, collectively, they buy into him and his team's strategy. It was interesting to hear Gio post match saying that it was down to the players not flying out the traps vs him telling them to soak it up and counter, which many believe was his tactic.

Even if GVB picked the right midfield and defensive options, we would still have been pulled apart without the mentality that he should have instilled in the players. They gave them too much space and time and that's the aspect that worries me most.

In fairness, that's based on me watching alone and already completely pissed off. If I was with some mates, I guess I could have mustered a fist pump.

I'm glad Jack's excellent strike didn't go in. At 3-0 down I would not have celebrated it, nor would many bears that were still watching, so it would have been a waste a perhaps papered over some cracks. The fact is the 2nd half didn't provide ANY positives, Jack said that himself in his post-match. I am mighty glad he's back. There may also be some optimism, in that Barisic looks to have played his last game and that it seems we will therefore have Bassey playing LB and Balogun LCH. That would improve us greatly. I will keep harping on about it, but I'm done with Tav, ( he has my thanks for the loyalty and great contributions. but that's in the distant past). He's now more of a bomb scare more often than not (again, his mistake almost cost us a goal last night), and his corners and crosses are and have been atrocious. Can't rely on him to take penalties either. I sincerely hope this is his last season. The sooner we blood in Zukowski the better. If Gio is not using Tav as a wing back and allow him the freedom to get up often, then I don't see what value he brings. Then we have the excitement and hope of seeing Ramsey alongside Jack and Aribo in midfield, all with creative qualities but steeliness too. Up top, the biggest impact I think GVB and Makaay ahve made is forcing Alfie to stay high and command the box, which has worked out well. We just need to figure out how Kent, Sakala and Roofe fit into the team. I'd prefer to see us play both Morelos and Roofe up front, but I've no idea how that fits together with the wingers etc. Aside from the players and formation, a big question mark hangs over the ability of GVB and his team to turn things around - it's a two horse race now and games against them will be vital. The test is to pick up max points and til we play them again and beat them at Ibrox. Anything less, more dropped points and this season will end in disaster and us looking for a new manager. Edit: GVB won't be sacked immediately if we don't win the league, if he can navigate the CL qualifiers, he'll get more time.

Agree. The changes were positive but they were playing a different game 2nd half, they allowed us more possession yet we still couldn't make a breakthrough.

We'll know within 5 minutes of the start on Sunday if we have collectively (GVB and the players) learned our lesson. I would even take a leaf out of their book. That's how to start a match.

Cant argue with any of that. I would add : 12. Kent needs to be given instructions how to link better with his team mates. If he cant turn it around, Sakala should take his place on the left forward position.

Bassey looked better when he moved to LB in the 2nd half. Players did let us down, but they they didn't seem to know what they were doing and how to cope with Celtic in the first 20mins. that's down to Gio. Plainly obvious how they would go at us from the off, well to everyone except for Gio, it seems.

Mathematically you are correct. But we are not capable - whether we don't have the players (based on this seasons form) or Gio and his team juts don't know how. Time will tell, but I haven't seen anything from this team this season to give me any confidence whatsoever.

Yes, Goldson less so, I think with a decent CB beside him he's adequate. But Tav and BB, especially BB are not good enough. Simple.

I don’t want to cause a riot either, but this is the start of the end for Gio. I don’t think he’s got the tactical ability to win this league from this position. Got a 4pt start and had ducked it away quickly. The worst performance I’ve seen and the players don’t look like they are buying into this guy.
