  1. Most of their players are WC, most of our players are WC.....different WC mind.

  3. Indeed, that's a given. He'll be given next season for sure. So that's what I mean, we'll move away from one season mangers to two season managers. What's the difference - little less compensation maybe?
  4. "Changing a manager is not a silver bullet solution". Yes we know that well, Patrick. However, nor is implementing the findings from an external review to ensure the club is run better and doesn't need to be underpinned by shareholder loans... but at least it's a start, a move in the right direction given the shambles we find ourselves in. I would expect we will see our annual losses decrease, even break even, accompanied by a fanfare of trumpets. Anyway, let's say the club find a way to become more financially sustainable, let's say that takes 2 years, and in that time we consistently still lag behind our rivals, then we change the manager? How long does he (or she) get if we don't win a title in that time? 3 years? Then the next manager? Will we move from sacking managers for failure every year to 18 months, to every 2-3 years? Okay, okay one step at a time. Financial stability first, then some profit, player trading improves, more profit. We are out of the woods. Meanwhile, in the east, they continue to bank CL cash, more transfer cash, more commercial and season ticket revenue. Wouldn't we still be relying on them having an awful season to be able to compete? But they don't. Are we back to needing to find that silver bullet with a new manager? Glass half empty, I know, but I don't hold out much hope for our plans. A better plan would be for every fan to don thawbs at matches from now on until it catches the attention of some Saudi Prince. Inshallah.

  6. It really doesn't change anything. It's just another abysmal away result, league is over anyway, there was no money on the line, it doesn't matter. It's the 10th of Jan and not a snifter of a signing, and I will be stunned to see anything significant happen. We'll see some cover coming for injuries, but nothing to get excited about. As for Clement, he's obviously been backed, he knows it and they'll carry on with him for at least this season and next. That's my feeling. On a personal note, I don't believe Clement and the board's project will be successful from a performance perspective. Success at the moment looks like it's only about cutting the wage bill in order to operate as a going concern. That's the harsh reality. The club is on it's knees. Would a new manager change things? Other than a new manager bounce, I don't think so. So as much as it pains me to say it, I prefer to stick with what we've got and hope I'm wrong about the board and Clement's little story.
  7. We're currently on a vicious cycle, the only way (I can see) to stop that is to be patient and keep trying, not changing the manager. Clement has the right attributes, he's still learning and is certainly not perfect, but there are no other guarantees of success out there. As fans all we can do is keep buying season tickets and supporting the club financially - any other measure would increase the speed of the downward spiral. Yes, we need wealthy investors, which isn't impossible, but unlikely. What may seem even more unlikely is getting out of the hell hole that is the SPL. The EPL is a pipe dream, but I still hold out hope for some Atlantic league set up with Dutch, Belgian, Scanda teams. At the end of the day, there is no miracle cure within our reach right now. Our best hope is some sort of massive downturn in form from our rivals similar to lennon's last season coupled with a consistent run by ourselves. Then, not have the board make the same mistake by sitting on their arses, patting themselves on the back - and instead building strongly on the success. I'm backing Clement and Koppen for now, if we can continue to strengthen certain positions, we should be able to improve and stay consistent. We're starting to see a decent foundation emerge with a few players that are very promising, but they can't do it all on their own. The domestic season is over, so pre-season starts now. And we have Europa nights to keep us going. Keep the faith, as little as there is.
  8. Agree with all of that. The players failed again, how many times can they be excused by Clement- it's his job to change things to get us over the line. 2-0 up and drawing is again unacceptable management.
  9. Get well soon. You won't be missing much tomorrow.
  10. Clement is not losing his job....unless we lose 6-0 tomorrow. Worth a punt @Compo?
  11. League over before the second Old Firm of the season, what a fucking state we are in again.
  12. Happy New Year everyone and best wishes for 2025.
  13. I didn't think they would have had to pull out their big guns for this match given their 14pt lead. I was wrong.

  16. Unfortunately, the 'project' is not about a 1-2 season timeline for climbing back to the top of Scottish Football, it's about financial stability. The timeline for putting a winning team together is [ insert guestimate as to when a Saudi Prince fancies buying a piece of Scottish history ]
  17. Clement is here for the long term, we must know that, accepting it is a different matter. This team is still a project, unless Stewart has other ideas?! In terms of money generation from football performance, you could argue Clement is ahead of schedule, mainly down to the success, thus far, in the Europa league. The risk of changing manager is obvious. Not only could we continue to lag well behind the beasts domestically, but we could also find ourselves struggling to do well in Europe. I don't think that is a risk worth taking given our financial situation. The vision for the Rangers hierarchy is to become financially sustainable - primarily through player trading - and I would assume they feel that we don't necessarily need to win the league to achieve that, but that it will come when we are able to properly generate income and thus properly invest behind the squad. Short term, unfortunately, we have to suffer the journey. The days of changing manager to chase short term success are over. Lose on Thursday, and ordinarily we would have Clement chased out the door. Supporters may try to protest, but any attempts will be futile. Season ticket money is a guarantee with the waiting list what it is. Merchandise will continue to be sold, and night will follow day. However, long suffering fans will continue to hope (for the first couple of months of each season) and next season is another opportunity. For now, we have all to play for in Europe, and I'm trying to keep the dying embers of my passion glowing as long as possible.
