It's amusing how Lennon says that it's his fault and to blame him and then he goes on to say that the second goal was a defensive error, the forwards were to blame more than the defence and that there are some that were playing who don't want to be at the club and should leave

He also said the game was easier than expected.

Champions league is and always has been my hope for the club. I think we could be looking at a minimum £50 million plus for even a  mediocre campaign in the group stage. And that wouldn't involve any detriment to the team. If we can do that while they failed again we could be back on even par at worst. While they may be hitting a stage where the wage bill is becoming a burden.

Of course it’s the preference but our fans need to get away from the idea that our best players are pretty much never for sale. Using the transfer market to our advantage is a way of progressing the club like clubs across the continent have done for a while.

  3. Much as we like to focus on ourselves, this is one result we can’t ignore every season. Champions League group money pretty much guarantees dominance domestically. Three seasons in a row they have messed this up now and they’ve given us a real chance of levelling things up. We have a shot at the Champions League ourselves next season too, and whatever anyone says about Gerrard his specialty is Europe. I’ve said for some time that the one way to truly overtake Celtic is to make the Champions League group stage or to make huge player sales. Finance is everything unfortunately.

I wonder how Morelos' career will go.  I get the feeling he could become a superstar or disappear into obscurity.

Either way, I hope Gerrard and Beale have a good plan for our first XI line up.  Looking at our new recruits, I remain unconvinced.

It’s going to be fascinating to see him tested at a higher level. He needs to sign for the right team. He could really struggle in a more technical league. Scottish football suited him.

At the end of the day, he cost us 1m or the like, yet scored tons of goals and vital ones in Europe too, raking in more money along the way than many could have hoped for. Getting 15m or whatever will be 14m or whatever more than we paid for him. Just saying.

Yes, I think pride is a big problem for a lot of Rangers fans. It's been well reported both Dembele and Tierney went for £20m+. At the end of the day we shouldn't care, we sell at the best price we can, he has played a big part in making the club money in Europe. Good luck to him but we need a player this season who can stay fit, disciplined and focused for 38 games and Morelos hasn't been that in any of the 3 seasons we've had him.

Possession stats and shots on target against in each game so far,

    Aberdeen - 60% - 0 shots on target
    St Mirren - 74% - 2 shots on target
    St Johnstone - 75% - 2 shots on target
    Livingstone - 79% - 1 shot on target
    Kilmarnock - 75% - 0 shots on target

That is your clean sheets explained right there. Complete domination in possession. We were good at this last season but the early signs are that actually we’ve managed to improve further.

Just a few stats to add to this,

    • Rangers have faced 17 shots so far this season, Celtic have faced 19 having played 2 games fewer
    • Rangers' average possession of 66.5% is the highest in the league
    • Rangers' pass accuracy of 87.6% is the highest in the league

Doesn't mean anything at this stage of course but some good early signs.

More rumours and gossip - Morelos has handed in an official transfer request and 2 senior players have approach Gerrard about Alfies attitude.

The writing has been on the wall with regards to Alfie's attitude for a very long time, let's be honest. If it wasn't for the incredible, and overwhelming support he has had he'd have done it before now.

Right then lads give me your take on Roofe is he going to do a job up front or not.

If he can stay fit I think he could be very good. That was the second time this season we have scored against a very defensive team by Barisic firing a low ball in which only needed to be re-directed by very quick feet. What a way to score a goal, I love it. But I don’t think Morelos would have the light and quick feet required to re-direct those like Roofe did on Saturday. Roofe could actually suit our style of play more than Morelos. I have never been Morelos’s biggest fan though so I’m sure others would have a different take on that.

I'd like to think the scouting team are already seeking out a potential replacement for Kent.

The English transfer market is totally over-inflated, so the money we could get for Kent might fund a replacement for him, fund the purchase of a dynamic midfielder and give us some profit, if we can find them overseas.

This is our route to success. Selling at over-inflated prices to England and spending the money more prudently in markets across the continent. Until we make the UCL groups this the only way we can significantly improve our finances, and therefore first team.

As soon as I see a post on a Rangers forum about the scum drawing, I know they are going to win.  Nothing surer.

A difficult ground to go to. I hope we develop the mentality required to be scoring late winners like this. At times in the past couple of seasons it has been the difference between us and them. We haven’t really seen this since Walter Smith.
