I think Ejaria is being scapegoated a bit. For me it’s a tactical error to go with three flat centre mids in a home game. It’s not his fault he hasn’t been played higher up the park. He did very little wrong other than not doing anything special like the rest. Call it a 4-3-3 all you want but it was a 4-5-1 and it was never going to break down Aberdeen. Contrary to what some have said the chances actually did come when we had more attacking players on but we didn’t take them and we didn’t create enough of them.
-
Actually Grezda was one of the only ones who did create chances. His cross led to the Jack chance and there were others too.
-
Yep. I’ve been saying exactly that for ages about us. Even Hibs manage to get to the byline pretty often.
-
I would excuse the lack of discipline if he improved his link up play. The amount of heavy touches, wayward passes and general givig the ball away wasn’t good enough tonight.
-
I like him so I was very disappointed tonight. Have to ask of Gerrard though why isn’t he playing further forward!? He adds nothing further back the pitch, leave that to Jack. Where Ejaria has ability is picking a pass in the final third (remember Rapid). He does have real ability but it’s not being used at all in a centre midfield postion. It was very obvious we need more attacking players on the pitch quite early in the first half.
-
The style tonight was nothing like that used against Hearts. At Hearts we didn’t pass the ball at all, tonight if anything we weren’t direct enough and wasted too much time passing the ball at a slow pace. I think playing on the deck more at home is good but the concern is that the players seemed to be improvising rather than than looking well drilled in methods of breaking through defences.
-
My word, just can’t believe we just let that happen. An awful football team and we’ve allowed them yet another smash and grab. Lots of poor performances out there tonight, Morelos chief among them. Grezda was brilliant when he came on and showed he should be a stick on starter. Lafferty was much better than Morelos when he came on but there just wasn’t enough dynamism in our attack, too often the pass was coming in to feet with a man on our back, not enough sideways runs, one-twos and balls to run on to. A reality check has been coming but what a way for it to come.
-
The players just look like they can’t handle the pressure tonight
-
Grezda looks our most dangerous player. His ball control when he’s dribbling is absolutely brilliant.
-
Morelos has had a shocker. Lost possession consistently, missed a sitter and did something completely stupid when he was on a yellow. He’s let the team down.
-
Lethargic performance. Aberdeen got their usual set piece goal and now they’re sitting in and we’re passing from side to side and not taking risks. We need an attacking substitution at half time, Coulibaly off I would say for Lafferty or Grezda. Morelos having a poor game giving the ball away a lot and picked up a silly yellow before half time.

In defence of Sutton (?), he has actually consistently praised Morelos and even rebuked Celtic fans for criticising him, even if he has joined in on the negative narrative to an extent. -

I was really impressed with his performance against Villarreal. He performed better than Goldson on every defensive metric. That was only one game but I think he's shown he deserves to feature regularly with in a rotated centre back pairing. It's a shame we probably won't be able ot keep him. Fingers crossed Karanka is still there at the end of the season and we might have a chance. -

Most excited about Kieran Dowell of those 4 after watching a few videos. The boy has real technique and flair and a great eye for a pass. I think our team desperately needs more technique and passing ability and he looks ideal. -
To be honest we struggled defensively throughout, we survived due to a combination of McGregor and their wastefulness. In terms of our creativity, we actually had plenty of good opportunities to score because their defence was very poor too. Their most effective tactic was to fall over when anyone came near them because they were guaranteed a free kick every time, killed a lot of our attacks.
-
I’m a huge fan but last night wasn’t his best night, he struggled to settle and it just wasn’t happening for him. But even with that being the case his corners were clear goal scoring opportunities because they were so good and he definitely created two or three other opportunities.

It’s hardly “jumping to a conclusion”, I had seen a replay and it did look like Candeias had gone after him and deliberately landed on him. It was only after another few replays that I changed my mind because he didn’t make as much contact on him as it initially looked he did. I don’t think it was as crazy a decision as everyone is suggesting when it’s made in the heat of the moment and you don’t have the benefit of a replay.
-
Gerrard has officially made it to December unbeaten at Ibrox ?
-
Candeias isn’t going to get his yellow rescinded given we’re being charged over the whole thing. I’d say Grezda is a better candidate given Hearts are there for the taking right now.
-
Gerrard said he was late but it was just a mistake and he accepted that and said he wasn’t dropped, it was a tactical decision to go with a more physical centre midfielder.
-
Well the opposition was the same for Worrall but I thought he was excellent and bailed out those two a few times along with McGregor.
-
Agree with that, McGregor the man of the match and Arfield not far behind but I’d add Worrall as another standout. A very solid performance despite Goldson and Flanagan being very shaky and putting him under extra pressure.
-
Candeias, Tavernier and Morelos all went in on the player at the same time. Candeias didn’t make the trip on the player but it did look at first like he’d deliberately followed through and stood in the player and landed on him. After watching a few replays it doesn’t seem he made any malicious contact despite bundling over him.

Great point
