The 3-5-2 option looks good on paper

    McGregor

    McAuley - Goldson - Worrall

    Tav - Davis - Jack - Arfield - Barisic

    Defoe - Morelos

Would make for an interesting training game .

                                Foderingham

                     Flanagan -Katic - Wallace

Candeias - Halliday - McCrory - Coulibaly -Middleton

                           Lafferty -  Grezda

  2. Sportsound ..mmm. It's not a programme that i would normally tune to, but given the circumstances with referee Beaton , i gave it a listen on Saturday.

Condemnation of the threat to Beaton ,...yes ,but lets not dwell too much on that ,.. instead , quickly on to Morelos.

He doesn't divide their opinion ...they just really don't like him, and that pleases me greatly ,because that means he''s doing something right.

@26th of foot speaks the truth.

  3. STEVEN DAVIS will become Steven Gerrard’s next Rangers signing within 24 hours.

Rangers are due to sign Steven Davis within the next 24 hours
Davis has accepted a major pay-cut to complete the move back to Ibrox, six-and-a-half-years after leaving for Southampton.
The Northern Ireland international has barely had a look-in so far this term at St Mary’s and will be allowed to join Gerrard’s side on a free transfer.
Davis will add vital experience to the middle of midfield as Rangers look to pip rivals Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.

    He’s agreed a £12,000-a-week, 18-month contract with the Gers.
Davis could make his debut when the Glasgow giants return to action after the winter break on January 18, when minnows Cowdenbeath are the opponents in a Scottish Cup fourth-round tie.
Charlie Adam, who admits he’s keen on a move back to Rangers, thinks the midfielder is a great addition for Gerrard.
He said: “It’s not about the money. He’s obviously been told about the project at Rangers.

Rangers are getting an experienced international in Northern Ireland man Davis
“He’ll also have seen from the outside and he wants to be part of it.
“They are within touching distance of being successful and he’ll feel his quality can add to that and help take them to the next step.
“He’s obviously had a chat with the manager and club and been happy with that.
“Rangers is a big pull for any player. To get someone like that back would be a great piece of business and hopefully he can add one or two more.
“It absolutely makes sense to me. He’s still a top player. He knows the club and has the experience.

"That’s something you are always looking for and he can play in that No.10 position, linking the play between Morelos and the midfield.
“He’s played for Northern Ireland but he’s not played an awful lot for Southampton this last six months.
“He’ll be wanting to be out playing and showing everybody he is still a good player. I have no doubt he is.
“Rangers don’t have too many experienced players. There’s Allan McGregor and maybe Ryan Jack, but after those guys, the rest are a young group. “To have that kind of leader going in there will be great business for the club.”
Rangers are now odds-on to sign Jermain Defoe.
Coral have priced up the Bournemouth man at 8-13 to complete a move north of the border this month.

Hey @Rousseau guess who I was parked beside at the Albion ?  And guess who hugged me on the win ?  And guess who said he and I need to catch up when he gets back from holiday this week ?

    :roflmao:

He seemed almost most as happy as we were.  In his words “that’s the first I’ve seen a real Rangers team against Celtic in 5 years”.

The Albion car park ticket inspector?

One of the big issues is the lack of the proverbial"no.10"but i belive he could be already playing every game----TAV.

Move him into play in that area and play McCrorie/Flanagan at right back, with rein to attack on the wing without straying inside,as Tav does too much of that IMO.

To do this would then negate Coulibali who seems to have lost his way.

Absolutely , but I'd prefer not to have Flanagan at all, though we could put Andy Halliday there as he seems to have played everywhere else apart from there ?.

There was a period a while back of some great interplay between Tav and Candeias, that seems to have disappeared in most recent weeks.

That interplay contributes to part of the whole creativity thing that we've been sadly lacking.

  6. A good few players mentioned as potential signings but i'd I'd be more than happy with even just the certainty of Davis coming back in ,as he's going to know what the expectation levels will be ,and on his game he is a quality player .

He's ex club captain ,so knows the script ..  one very good midfielder doesn't only change the strength in midfield , he will have a knock on effect all over the park.

  7. I thought we'd win this one easily, and that was even after they scored.

They were trying to play football against us , then got a man sent off and subsequently stopped playing and just shut down shop.

Our play was just so predictable ,and the Dundee defence must've been getting that feeling of deja vu with every attack.

We are capable of so much better too, that's the frustrating thing.

But yes, a creative midfielder .
