  1. Let's hear it for Walter. He rescued us after the Le Guen experiment and steadied the Club to the present where we sit at the top of the SPL. He's put up with a lot since his return and has carried on the best he could. He should have handed over at the end of last season but I believe he stayed on to see us through this rocky period which we all knew was coming. He will leave after new ownership is established which will be at the end of this season after the League has been won again. A true Rangers' Man to the (his) bitter end and should be heralded for his devotion to our great Club.
  2. There's more to this than meets the eye.
  3. I have to rely on benefits right now due to disability, not laziness. There is no way I could afford that kind of cash, where did you get a figure like that CB ? Did I miss something ? Judging by the Hamburg model I was looking like a monthly fee of £20 to £30 which I think would be manageable. I'm sure not many would be willing (or able) to put £1000 p.a.into the Club. But that again comes back to the more cash an individual wishes to put in, the more say they should expect. But I think this has already been discussed. Of course there are many more wealthier supporters than me but I think I would be at the lowest end of any "fee"
  4. Having one owner, decisions can be reached in moments. He/she pleases themselves for whatever reason. After all they bought the "toy" and they can do what they wish. If they want to consider the fans, they can. If they don't, they don't. eg. Mike Ashley. At least with an elected President he can be unelected, therefore it is in his/her own interests to please the voters (fans). So indirectly the fans can have a big say with a President and no say with an owner, no matter how rich that owner may be. This being the case and citing the possible repercussions with simple "possession" ownership, I believe the "Presidential route is a no brainer. As you rightly say pete, there will be very little opportunity for "egos" in fan ownership. I only hope that no buyer comes in before the support can get the fan ownership plan up and running. A rich owner is the quicker and easier fix but can only be considered as short-termism because we run the risk of being in this position again.
  5. I think more fans admire him more for being a true Rangers man than an average coach.
  6. Is there no-one else able or willing to seize the initiative ? Some person or group with the nous to get everyone to back them unequivocably and without suspicion. Unless we unite soon, we'll argue and debate forever and the opportunity will be lost in my opinion. Like or loathe the RST, at least they appear to have made the first public move.
  7. Can anyone please tell me in idiot's terms the potted history of the ill feeling directed towards the RST. I'm finding it hard to get to grips with the reasons as to why we can't all get united when our Club needs us.
  8. Was it not Boyd's choice to make himself un-available for selection if Burley remains in charge ?
  9. If we do go down the road of "fan ownership", and I hope we do, I would hope this issue would be up there in order to rectify our public image. On other sites I am continually defending us as apparently we are ALL "sectarian bigots" to every non Rangers fan. Even the recent display at Falkirk did little to change matters. "It was only a few etc." was their cry. The drip drip effect has definitely worked over the years and whenever I go against my fellow Bears and the things they might say on those sites, I am treated as some kind unique individual for not towing the party line by both sides. I am only trying to be truthful and no more. I have reached the conclusion that all clubs have a type of supporter who either is unable or unwilling to handle facts and reality. No matter what unassailable facts are presented they will be ignored or even denied. These supporters will believe anything put before them from any source as long as it suits what they already stand for. I like to think WE (or the vast majority of We) live in the real world while THEY see themselves as rebels ready to pounce on anything which the establishment might do, hence the term MOPE. The media loves this as those "rebels" enjoy banging on and on and on about injustice. Jebus, they're still going on about Manchester FFS. It thrives on sensationalism as it strings stories out like a soap opera, having it's readership waiting for the next instalment. I think they used to be called Penny Dreadfuls back in the day. As long as we always speak the truth and are honest we will always prevail. Look at THEM, I think THEY are dishonest when they can get away with it, and with the Scottish press keeping us on the back foot, is about most of the time.
  10. This is not sports journalism in any shape or form. This is just another pathetic example of rewarding "hurtit feelings" A glorification of the infestation of compensation culture which this clown wheels out occasionally when there's nothing else to write about. He just brings in football so he can call himself a "sports journalist". Is he a part-time lawyer perchance ? It's UEFA's job to look after football in Europe, not to deal with society's problems. What are Clubs to do, frisk fans for evidence of being a troublemaker before to let them in ? Brain scans anyone ? If someone shouts out a "racial remark" at the Odeon, does the picturehouse face closure ? Don't think so ! This guy is all wind and pish and he, like queersy, is a poor excuse for a journalist. He's like the useless guy at work who can't be paid off as he's been there the longest. Give him something to do out the road so he can't get in the way of the important stuff. He probably had the idea for this piece when he was stuck in the crapper unable to move off due to having a dose of the shits. This really annoys me but I try to put it into perspective and vent by ridiculing the twat, a la queersy. BTW do you think they might be the same guy ?
  11. And these fans are "scum" ???? according to Bain and the tabloids. For fucks' sake !!!!!!!!
  12. I don't understand, So you think we shouldn't try to win in Europe ? I presume you areaware that UEFA are currently to "level the playing field" regarding income and especially debt amongst all teams, particularly when competing in European competition. We have punched above our weight before and I sincerely believe if we can seize the ownership proposition we can acheive relative success abroad. Would it be fair to say you were a "glass half empty" kinda guy ?
  13. We should return to being regular champions of Scotland and aim to being unbeatable. Assured regular appearance in the top European Club tournament should be our present target. After this is achieved, we have to conquer Europe and be regular challengers. I thought moving to the EPL was necessary for us to flourish, more cash, better players etc. but look at the debts of their top clubs, 100s of millions. All those wealthy owners could walk away at any time and with UEFA looking at financial disparity amongst all clubs, this just might happen. I'm excited about the prospect of club ownership by the supporters. I truly believe this could mean the start of a fantastic period for Glasgow Rangers if we ALL get behind such a process. I think by the year 2020 the EPL will be begging us to be part of any set up thay may be involved with as the arse is going to fall out of their world very shortly.
  14. I'm sure McCoist is still learning the ropes with regards diplomacy and press statements. After all, I don't think Walter was very forthcoming on the episode. The Arsene Wenger "I didn't see the incident" etc kind of statement would have certainly have put the incident to bed, as far as Rangers' verdict was concerned. Bain, as well, should learn to keep his thoughts to himself at least until he knows all of the facts.
  15. Don't buy in to the paranoia like THEM fellow Bears. WE are better than that
  16. We need to kidnap the Hamburg Guy.
  17. There are many good ideas and plans to take us forward but I believe we need to act soon. Someone needs to underwrite the debt or give firm proposals to Lloyds asap to give us breathing space to get everything set up. All of the issues like voting rights, members' benefits etc. I'm sure can be ironed out soon enough but the main priority at the moment is fending off the bank.
  18. Frankie This could be the greatest thing that has ever happened to Rangers. Get lobbying now. please.
  19. Two fantastic reads. It just goes to show how parochial we are in Scotland when it comes to "sectarian" issues. We are brainwashed by our papish media and government to think we are evil etc. by only respecting and celebrating our history, unlike the Germans who are proud to display it without impunity. No-one gives a flying feck about "sectarianism" outside Scotland with the east end of Glasgow being the epicentre.
  20. This appears to be a fantastic opportunity. As at Barcelona, we must have a fantastic fan base, probably more in fact worldwide. This must be acted on now IMO. Let's hear what is said on Friday. Anyone aware of the negatives or any club's where it's failed ?
  21. 50 quid a year !!! Who's in ?
  22. Would this be the same Stanley Collymore who, if my memory serves me well, was pulled off Ms. Jonsson mid-beating by some Bears on holiday in Spain or somewhere several years ago ?
  23. At the moment, if you read the Scottish press, you would think that only our Club is a magnet for people hell bent on violence. Such individuals attend gatherings like football matches, G8 Conferences or anywhere there could be the chance of a ruck. We have the biggest support in Scotland therefore pretty much reflect a cross section of society. Suffice to say , this includes our fair share of nutters who don't care of any consequences to our Club. All Clubs also have their nutters whose numbers will also be in proportion to their entire support. Many are probably the same ones who go to Rangers away matches and other such events for the sole adrenaline rush achieved in challenging the authority who happens to be in opposition. After all, what do these people do when there's no G8 to disrupt ? I've read many eye witness statements from the Romania experience and there appears to be no doubt that the authorities played a big part in the so-called "riot" Now, anyone with similar experiences would tell you that it's very difficult just to walk away and turn the other cheek when you are being so badly treated. The last thing going through anyone's mind is that they shouldn't do anything to embarrass the Club, I can assure you. It's a "fight or flight" situation. If you're alone and the odds are against you, easy, fly like the wind. When you're part of a large group however, you've had a drink, you've been treated badly, you've seen a fellow supporter attacked, the professional troublemakers hardly need to act and before you know it, you'are right behind the nutters. Would any rational supporter follow abroad not expecting trouble of some kind, I don't think so. The best way out for us this time is a ban on away tickets for a time, we need to break this cycle of "rioting" and rebuild our reputation of being one of the biggest and best Clubs in Europe. Anyway, look at the cash the Romanians must have made off us. When we play away, the home team must be rubbing their hands at the cash they'll make. We, as a club will not suffer.
  24. I've always thought the team should be set up to accommodate Kris Boyd and his unique goalscoring ability.
