Still no sign. Has anyone heard any updates ?

"Home rule is Rome rule" was an often heard phrase in my youth. Is that relevant ? My opinion is that the Catholic Church is using perceived "sectarianism" to divide the population as so create diversity. People will seek safety in numbers if they feel they are threatened, real or imagined threats. In other words, the Church is using the situation to recruit and consolidate.

I never looked at it from that angle GA. Tims are simply neither able or permitted to think for themselves, so therefore do only as instructed. Any group which still bases its very existence on myth, lies and magic, or religion as it is also known, simply can not declare any moral authority over those who disagree with its "teachings" The great shame is that their "instructors" are locked in the dark ages and have to perpetuate conflict to keep power and control over their brainwashed followers. No more than slavery and being subservient from cradle to grave.

Maribor lodge protest over Carlos Bocanegra eligibility

The gobbler "crying wolf" again, further enhancing his "journalistic" qualities. UEFA must think he's a great prat. I hope the Club takes steps to eradicate this propaganda. -
why do we put defensive line-ups out against SPL dross?

Fear of losing outweighs the thought of taking any risks. -
Many great players started in the lower leagues. Kevin keegan springs to mind.

Verhoek having a medical at Forest later today. SSN When are we going to stop fannying about ? The selling clubs must get very pissed off at the way we're doing business. I'm officially getting FN annoyed now.

Nothing exciting about the signings for me. Transfer dealings have been strange. Multiple bids for DG ending in reports of actually out bidding Blackburn. Paying Hearts over the odds for a player in his last contracted year; and now another saga developing with the Dutchman and the Belgian; announcing the "possible" signing of the Ozzie on the official website. The only place I have experienced bidding such as ours is on a Spanish beach when those dodgy blokes in speedos come round trying to sell you over priced sunglasses etc. I'll be pretty miffed if we don't settle a couple of decent signings soon without all this "another Rangers' bid has been rejected" pantomime.

Steven Whittaker 'filled with regret' after show of dissent
biggordy replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
There's nothing anyone can do to change the fact that we're out and SW's sending off was a huge factor. We can only hope this inspires him to go on and have a good season. I also hope he isn't booed at the game tomorrow, that won't do anyone any good.- 21 replies

John DC Gow - Tribalism pretending to end Tribalism
biggordy replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
A masterpiece by John Gow. This is why the subject of "sectarianism" will never go away. The Catholic Church appears to have undergone a change of direction from being concilitory(?) to being aggressive in an attempt to protect itself from falling membership and increasing atheism. It is merely trying to keep such subjects in the public eye to make itself appear more important and less of an irrelevance which it has become in our modern society. Clinging on to separate schooling is the prime example. We, Rangers Football Club, have become unwitting partners in their publicity seeking headlines. Rangers = Protestant = bad Celtic = Catholic = good Celtic are also players in this PR exercise as they, mainly in the past few years (after the "concilitory period), are the bridge between the Catholic Church and the ordinary people. -
So he spends the night in a Blackburn gaol instead of a Glasgow one. That WILL happen soon enough. If he had signed for us, it would be only a matter of time until the mhedia came up with something. We may have been too cautious in our bidding, but I could see from the start that Thompson was certainly not going to sell to us at any price.

As long as there were no nasty songs sung, all is well. -
Rangers to trial German international - David Odonkor
biggordy replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It's a difficult one. He's only 27 and some of the clips of him are outstanding. History of knee injuries are not good but he's young enough to come back. Surely something could be worked out to give the boy a break. -
Poor performance from the team AND the Manager. Can only improve..surely.

Where do I fit in ? If I, an Athiest but Rangers' supporter, were to punch a sellik supporter on the nose, would that be recorded as a crime against a Catholic ? Where would that appear in the statistics ? If a Rangers supporting Protestant were to punch a sellik supporting Protestant (and there must be many), where does that fit into the stats ? Who counts the Protestants and who counts the Catholics ? In all these crime statistics, was anti Catholic/Protestant/Sikh/Muslim etc. etc. the cause of the crime or was it just another demographic added for the pure hell of it ? Do gangs of Protestants go roaming the streets looking for Catholics to assault or is it just another box ticked when the charge sheet is filled in, for stistical purposes of course ? I suppose you could go on forever picking holes in these BIG statements that the Catholic Church likes to wheel out every couple of years. Why does no-one grasp the nettle once and for all and announce the fact that segregated schooling is merely a secure way, condoned by the Government, in which the Catholic Church can have access to 100% of young pupils who have no option but to become indoctrinated ? How many of those children actually go on to practise their religion ? There's a statistic I'd like to know.

My hackles rose when I saw the preview to this piece. The main protagonists being tom devine and ponsonby himself.....both "celtic minded". Devine is always wheeled out on these "reports" with his same old mantra, namely "Catholic = good and everyone else = bad. Whenever separate schools are mentioned, he usually goes off on one. He simply refuses to even look at the notion that any kind of segregation could lead to a divided society. IMO lack of integration ONLY leads to division, particularly in a person's early years.

I expect he will be "injured" in training before the Malmo game.

If the BBC itself is not guilty of bias, then their bosses are guilty of tacitly condoning the personal agendas being set by their news producers. These individuals are using the British Broadcasting Company as their own personal mouthpiece. This is abuse of Public Property and, in my opinion, those individuals involved should be sacked forthwith. There are too many instances of this type of thing happening for the matter to be closed with just an "apology"

A football stadium full of drunk, angry, rival fans is merely the perfect stage for all of Scotland's ills to be put to the test. Where else is there an opportunity for all "our" social problems to be gathered together in one venue ? It's actually quite remarkable that no-one gets seriously hurt. Meanwhile, there have been more knife murders this week as well as the usual deaths from alcohol and drugs.
