Strange how they went from last season to this. It's a funny old game, right enough. I read a book called Fear and Loathing in La Liga (Sid Owen) about the Classico and it's relationship to wider Spanish society, particularly the Civil War. I'd recommend it. I didn't like Barcelona or Real Madrid anyway but that book validated my feelings towards both clubs.

Impossible to pinpoint the blame. There are many factors involved. Anything popular is taken advantage of by the money men, that's just life. I'm doing my bit by telling my kid he can't 'support' Barcelona and is certainly getting none of their merchandise, as well as taking him to any matches where my hometown (non-league) team play in Edinburgh.

Opposition players have got away with 4 or 5 nasty challenges against our players recently but our lads seem to get booked each time they go in hard. Maybe I'm biased but that's the way it seems. The referee telling the managers that a player is one bad challenge away from a sending off is fine by me, as long as he is consistent in doing so.
