I've always felt we maintained a youth set up simply because that's the established thing that clubs do ... but I never saw any clear reason for it.
-
If ever there was a confluence of Rangers greatness, it was Jock Wallace in the dugout and John Greig on the park. Frankly, I adored them and in their pomp they pretty much were Rangers.
-
For me, it's a very straightforward situation. The money and effort invested in youth players has only one objective - to produce players for the first team squad. Either we up our game to deliver this objective or forget about it altogether. Youth football has become an ornament to hand round our necks. It doesn't deliver nearly enough and it takes resources from the first team. If there's to be an improvement it will come from a better calibre of leadership than we've seen in the past. The women's team is entirely different. It's a conscious decision to participate in the SWPL and stands alone on its own merits. You also have to say the investment in women's football has been a considerable success so far.

Match Thread [FT] Kilmarnock 1 - 2 Rangers (Tavernier 55; Lawrence 58)

No reason it should be unpopular since it was there for everyone to see last night. McInnes is doing a good job at Rugby Park. -

Rangers 4 Motherwell 0 FGS - Dessers -
After one of his spells in the doldrums in the first half of the season, Tavernier is back to conjuring up minor miracles and looking like a Rangers captain, especially (wait for it) in defence. I thought he was bloody marvellous last night. Tav should get the vote but, seriously, who could look beyond our sensational keeper Jack Butland. Hopefully we can come up with some credible way of allowing Ridvan Yilmaz to have a rest now and then because Barisic isn't it.

Barisic is finished. If we need cover for Yilmaz, use Sterling .... or any warm body for that matter. -

The selection doesn't matter. It's what they do after the kick off that counts. -

Even in a poor performance you always learn something. 1. We continue to struggle at defending set pieces 2. Borna Backpass is even worse than I thought. In fact he's dreadful, get him off at half time ffs. -

It really is a shit league when you have to protect your players from the opposition’s pitch. -

Anxious to see the team for tonight because it's bound to include a few changes because of that bloody awful pitch -
Her brother, the little horror.

A bit surprised by the breadth of odds -
Interesting to think we're all being archived and cross-referenced for future analysis 😁 but seriously that was then, this is now and this is a completely different topic started by someone else. As my 5 year old grand daughter would say, so what who cares. 😘

Sandy might have been the best young golfer in the world at the time, they say he could do anything. But once he had won that US Masters in 88 he had run his course and never featured again. Montgomery never won a major but his 8 order of merit victories (7 of them on the bounce) was an unbelievable achievement. Both great golfers though. We’ve had nothing like them since.

And 3 assists by de Bruyne

I've really no idea. Would it matter?

I've been thinking about what constitutes a past hero and whether I actually have any. I mean, are we talking only about sporting heroes? If so, the sportsman who has impressed me more than any other would have to be Dan Carter, the All Blacks fly half and possibly the greatest ever rugby player. But if we're talking only about British sporting heroes I would find it harder to tie it down to one name - and even more so if restricted to Scottish sportsmen. Probably the greatest ever sporting Scot is still hobbling about on his metal hip but the following ten personal favourites have all made a huge impression on me at one time or another. There's no point listing Footballers because they would all be Rangers players and too many to make any real sense ......... Gavin Hastings Chris Paterson Ian McLaughlin Finlay Calder Chris Hoy Alan Wells Jim Clark David Wilkie Dick McTaggart Colin Montgomery

PC clearly feels he's wasting his time with the questions he's been getting and has decided to give a series of lectures instead. -

I also think he might take a spell in international football but not necessarily Germany. -
