We're out of the Champions League, we've dropped 6 points out of 12 in the SPFL and we're 4 points off the pace after only 4 games. Only one of our 9 new signings appears even slightly interested and our manager doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing. All this and the biggest concerns of the day are hiring out Auchenhowie for a couple of days and what colour of socks we use. 😆

I was sort of hoping the latter might be a harbinger of the former on this occasion. It's the only hope I've been able to muster.

It's hard to know how to interpret the apparent reticence of the Rangers board to comment on what has been a very public debate about Beale's suitability to manage Rangers. No statement of support for the manager, no expression of concern about recent results. Only a rather oppressive silence.
-
No, you're right. I remember thinking the only difference between Rangers and Scotland was the shade of blue in the shirts.
-
It might get worse but I'm convinced nothing will change for the better while Beale is at Rangers. Sack him now or sack him later, the end will be the same
-
The last couple of months at Auchenhowie haven't improved things so I think you're being slightly unrealistic that the loss of a few days is going to make any difference. Maybe a change of manager might help.

He could be our very own Berti Vogts

I don’t really care so much about the style of play. Maybe when we’re hoovering up trophies year after year I’ll think about style.
-
Very few have made a success of both club and national team management. Stein and Smith and perhaps Ormond, all of whom came to the national side after success at club level. The rest haven't been great.
-
If the board haven't been sounding out possible new managers by now then they're not the men who should be in charge of Rangers.
-
I think that may have been largely due to the lift generated by departure of a deeply unpopular manager. I'm hoping for the same when Beale eventually clears his desk.
-
If there's a Rangers director who hasn't looked at the writing on the wall and acknowledged to need to consider candidates to replace Beale then they haven't been paying attention.
-
The worst of all worlds for me is that we win the next few domestic games but it's the usual struggle and we continue to play badly ....... allowing Beale to cling to his job while solving none of our problems and further delaying the day when squad morale sinks to the point where the whole thing implodes in a series of draws and losses. How many times have we seen this happen?
-
I think there's quite a strong sense of it wouldn't be fair on Beale to sack him now. For my part I'm rather more concerned about what's fair for Rangers.

To provide a fulsome answer would involve language unbecoming a Gersnet member.

Couldn’t give a stuff really

I think the League Cup final in particular was a managerial disaster and was the first real warning for me that something wasn't right with this regime. I don't know anyone who looked at the team selection that day and didn't think Beale had completely misjudged the game. With eyes thus opened, it's been clear that game wasn't a one-off. What also worries me is that the players must have similar doubts.
-
Anyone watching Rangers' travails over the years must recognise the symptoms of a dressing room at odds with the manager. There can be no hope of success if that's the case .... and only one way forward.
-
I find it interesting how Raskin and to an extent Cantwell have gone well off the boil since last season. Perhaps suggesting this manager isn't creating the constructive dressing room the players would like to see. I suspect there are some unhappy players in our squad.
-
All valid and accurate points. I couldn't argue with any of it. However, when this flawed structure presents us with they another manager who isn't up to the job, we shouldn't just ignore it. Not everything can be solved by patience and I think we can all see the considerable difference between Gerrard and Beale.
-
Still playing Mr Grumpy the attack poodle then? I don't think I even mentioned Ridvan Yilmaz .... or whether Barisic is our best option or not. What I actually said was that his leaving or staying wouldn't have a major impact on our fortunes this year. I believe that remains the case.

The thought occurs to me. How many Rangers manager have ever recovered from the level of dissatisfaction being expressed by the support towards Michael Beale. Maybe Alex MacLeish?
-
The reason Beale needs sacking is because, 10 months in, he shows no signs of ever taking us in a direction likely to lead to the league title. That simple truth isn't any less valid because fans can't agree on a replacement manager. How many times do we have to go through the death throes of inept managers to learn the lesson that delaying the decision to sack him only makes matters worse?
