The reactionary nature of football supporters in general and the fact there is no meaningful personal skin in the game have long led me to reject fan ownership as a constructive way to run the club. I see no problem in principle with the likes of Advocate backing up Murty. However, in practice, this seldom works unless there is a pre-existing relationship between the two. What you end up with is the senior man dominating rather than supporting and the outcome is disaster for all.

Like most tournaments where you don't have any skin in the game, the World Cup will likely be another endurance race of tedium interspersed with the occasional flash of entertainment. The last few World Cups have been as entertaining as the average Champions League.

To be fair, while his motives are dubious, he does have a point. The last time is was in the club deck I was appalled at the state of the place. Leaking roof, buckets catching drips, water damage down the walls, a sorry mess of decay and neglect. The worst aspect of it was not being in the least bit surprised.
