  1. The fact bad decisions are made so often points to abysmal standards of refereeing in Scotland. The fact this happens to Rangers players with such abnormal frequency points to cheating, howsoever motivated.
  2. If King was taking decisions reserved for the board, without having prior authorisation from the board to do so, then it was up to the board to rein him in and, if necessary, overrule his actions. They could also censure and remove him if they want. On the other hand, if the board is simply allowing King to ride roughshod over them then they are failing in their fiduciary duties and the shareholders should be holding them (and King) to account. Being chairman in itself conveys no particular powers, only a responsibility to see that the board functions properly and addresses matters of business appropriately. In fact, in a well-run business, the last person who should be exercising executive power is the chairman.
  3. Unless he's recently acquired a hell of a lot of shares, it will be in practice rather than theory. I realise you understand this but too many people think of SDM when they hear the word Chairman, forgetting that SDM wielded power by virtue of his shareholding, not his office as Chairman.
  4. It’s not the role of a chairman or his deputy to take executive decisions. This is simply a move to be able to hold board meetings without DK being present.
  5. What did he say?
  6. I hope he distances himself from Rangers too.
  7. Look on it like this. If we win our first game and Celtic lose theirs, it will make our victory at Parkhead almost unbearable for them
  8. No problem with the odd ad but these 888 ads continually popping up across the bottom of my phone screen make viewing impossible - a real pain in the arse!
  9. As you get older there are days you look back on as markers in your life, some for obvious reasons of importance but others that somehow just got stuck in your head. One of these for me was a game back in 1964, a memory that has stayed with me like an old friend. I must have seen the Rangers many hundreds of times since but for some reason the game that left the biggest impression on me was one of the first I attended. Maybe it’s not entirely unusual for early impressions to be lasting ones but I swear I can’t remember a thing about other games I went to around the same time. The game in question was a League Cup group match, just a few months before boabie’s Easter Road adventure, and took place on a blazing hot Saturday afternoon in August at Pittodrie. That was back in the days before any of the bitterness that now exists between the clubs. Rangers were generally welcomed in Aberdeen and I recall an Aberdeen fan leaning down to offer a sweetie to this wee boy with a Rangers scarf round his neck. I remember it vividly, as if it was yesterday, a real dingdong battle that Rangers eventually won 4-3. The combination of heat & noise, the colours and the sheer excitement of an unsegregated support was like a narcotic to a young head and sealed a love affair that’s lasted a lifetime. To my young mind the Rangers players seemed like giants in the sunshine and if I close my eyes I can still see Ralph Brand scoring his second. Great days, when Rangers stood like a colossus over Scottish football.
  10. That’s more like it
  11. Thanks Moonlighter, you do such invaluable work keeping this knowledge alive. These articles are wonderful.
  12. It's strange to see Rogers getting involved in stuff like this. It's almost like he's losing his comfort zone. Since it can't be the threat of losing the title, you begin to wonder if all is as well as it should be between him and the Celtic board. Is he pushing for more money than they're willing to spend.
  13. The underlying issue here is they've never got over the humiliation of May 1999. It gnaws at them like nothing else.
  14. Never mind singing, you’re not allowed to post the word fenían either ... ooops. Censorship and compliance with cultural Marxism is everywhere.
  15. ALL fixtures should be drawn BEFORE the start of the season. The “split” is a farce from any angle you look at it.
  16. What's a F******?
  17. It was official cheating, nothing less. The football authorities who would later crucify Rangers in 2012 did everything they could to have us fail. It was the birth of the farce called sporting integrity.
  18. I meant to say previously that the relaxed conversational style is perfect. I'm sure the personalities of the regular contributors will develop as time passes.
  19. I don't know about that but we do at least have to accept it
  20. Miller - it's hard to see any logic - mystifying selection.
  21. Few clubs have such a polished veneer of innocence and victimhood to cover a truly horrible history. Maybe one ...
  22. An interesting addition to the usual posted conversations and well worth listening to. Like Tannochsidebear, my concern is that it was far too long, I don’t think I’m going to devote an hour to this every time. Cut it in half.
  23. As long as we have Ross Thomson MP on the touchline
  24. I don't give a fig for Club1872 or the Union Bears. Both are fully entitled to their views and priorities but, as an ordinary Rangers fan with no affiliations, if money is spent on safe standing while our squad needs serious improvement and the fabric of Ibrox is in such poor condition then something is very very wrong. If certain factions want safe standing they should raise the money pay for it all themselves. It seems to me at least that this is definitely not the business of Club1872.
  25. So sorry to hear about this ... 61 is no age for a man to pass on and my thoughts are with his family at this sad sad time.
