Exactly. There are points to be made for and against any formation but what shone through yesterday wasn't tactics, it was attitude and mental preparation. From the outset our players looked afraid of their own shadows and terrified of the ball. By ten minutes in, we had already conceded the game. You can change the player selection or the formation but unless players believe in themselves the result will almost always be poor. It isn't tactical genius that has turned things round for Kilmarnock but inspirational leadership. We could really do with some of that at Rangers.

The reaction and attitude shown by Halliday and Candeias when they were substituted spoke volumes for the lack of respect towards Graeme Murty. I can't imagine players having done that to Walter Smith and survived unscathed. It suggests an immediate change is necessary and it's hard to imagine Jimmy Nicol would do a worse job of preparing the team until a new manager is found.

I sometimes wonder if we're really still Rangers ... or we've bought into the narrative of our detractors and are just Sevco after all. Steve Clarke? Alex Neil? Get a grip please, since when did salvation for Rangers lie in appointing Celtic men to run our club? I can think of no better way to concede the future of Rangers. Why don't we approach Martin O'Neill, he might fancy the joke?

The trouble is, you think I'm defending Murty when I'm clearly not. What I am doing is trying to take the debate out of mere shit slinging to highlight the real problem here ... that our board of directors has saddled the club with three poor managers in a row and that the same geniuses are now going to decide who comes next. Rather than condemning a guy who never sought the job, perhaps a little more time needs to be spent looking at the suitability of the current board. Because when Murty goes we are right back to square one.

I'm not sure what a comparison between Boyd and Morelos proves. Very little from what I can see. It's beginning to look like the main issue with Morelos is not on the field of play but in the dressing room, which is clearly not a happy or positive place to be right now. He's certainly not the confident young man who arrived at Ibrox a few months ago. I just hope we don't end up bitterly regretting turning down those offers from China in January.

That misses the point entirely

I'm increasingly uncomfortable with the criticism of Graeme Murty, who didn't seek the manager's job but was asked to take over by a board of directors that had failed twice to appoint an effective manager and then had an offer to McInnes thrown back in their faces. Graeme Murty might not be the right man to manage Rangers but he never claimed to be. Having a go at him now is a ridiculous thing to do. He may well be the only one in this whole debacle who DOESN'T deserve to have blame hung round his neck.

When will we see another league flag flying over Ibrox?
Bill replied to Bill's topic in Rangers Chat
70% voted for a league title in the next two seasons and over a third thought we'd win the league next season. I think today puts into perspective the task ahead of us - both to win the league and to manage supporter expectations. -
When a team takes the park so obviously afraid of the ball as we did today it shows two things, they're not the right players and they lack the right leadership from the management team. At least today should quell the sort of false optimism we're so prone to as a support.

The team is unprepared mentally. We look terrified of facing Celtic. We look convinced we’re second best. Another wasted season.

The police in this country have lost the plot altogether. If they spent less time behind computers scrutinising social media (as thousands of officers now do across the UK) they might have more resources and more time to address real crime. I used to be 100% behind our police but they've lost almost all credibility and my support with it.

It only appeared the once on my phone, never on my laptop or iPad. I also had real problems for several days with 888 gambling ads popping up over half the screen area - again only on my phone - but this also seems to have stopped. All seems back to normal now - I just assumed someone had "fixed" it. I'm not sure how to capture a screenshot on an iPhone but in case it makes any difference I'm using iOS 11.3 Has anyone else experienced probs with ads?

Would that worry you? It wouldn't affect me in the slightest.

Bates has made his decision. Good luck to him. I’ve forgotten his name already.

Tragic loss. Unimaginable grief.

Every club and its dog invents a reason to put stars on their shirts now. I’d scrap it, we don’t need to boast about our achievements

Today I see an ad proclaiming ... ”TAKE ONLY ONE PILL AND FUCK ALL NIGHT AGAIN” accompanied by explicit graphics. There’s a funny side of course but I find it hard to believe Gersnet welcomes this pornography on its website.
-
Good luck with that. I’ll watch with interest but won’t be holding my breath

I can guarantee one thing, you won't change the current bias by trying to gain a foothold in the existing media organisations. The bias against Rangers is universal and locked in, all dissent has been purged and acquiescence is a tacit condition of employment. The only way to get our voice out there will be to use social media and/or to set up new media outlets - but well above the scale of anything that exists today. This should be one of the key priorities of Club1872.

In respect of this really excellent piece of writing from Rick Roberts, there have been two huge frustrations in recent years. The first was the fractured nature of those seeking to speak for the many supporter factions, who used far more energy decrying each other than was ever expended on our detractors. The second was the decision of Club1872 to engage such a narrow agenda, focussed almost entirely on share ownership and a seat on the board. I think it’s now clear Club1872 is to be the fans’ vehicle but it really needs to set aside its continuing obsession with share ownership and be the voice of the support that it could be. We have enormous collective influence but the old divisions and frustration will reappear unless the potential is turned to action.- 10 replies
