  1. Just a few years ago the EPL was full of Scottish managers, look at it today. There's a dearth of good Scottish managers at the top level and even English managers are becoming in short supply, with foreign coaches pretty much the more now. Even those British managers still getting a job seem to all be on the same roundabout and seldom last more than a year or two. Mark Hughes, Alan Pardew, David Moyes, Sam Allardyce, etc seem to be on a never-ending job swap. The perennial favourites on Rangers forums, Steve McLaren & Glenn Hoddle don't even get the scraps anymore. There are very few really good managers available and those that do exist are in such demand they could name their price. All are way out of our reach. The next Rangers manager is currently plying his trade at a much lower level than the imaginations of most Rangers fans are prepared to consider.
  2. You’ve certainly got a pompous compass. Why don’t you just sit down and write out what everyone can and can’t post, or better still, why not just write everyone’s posts for them.
  3. There's always one.
  4. I looked at it yesterday and thought "I could sink some money into that" Then I thought, that's how reputations are lost, don't plumb those depths.
  5. I'm struggling to see how it can be anything other than hindsight ... unless I'm the only one without clairvoyance and no bugger has told me.
  6. Check and check. Where do I get my copy?
  7. Anyone any knowledge of what Aberdeen, Celtic earn from this?
  8. Correct? Seriously, is there an official, authorised book of Rangers songs?
  9. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Derek Adams as a possible candidate. Worked miracles at Ross County, Plymouth promoted last season, likely playoff this season to get into English Championship.
  10. At least they care enough to try.
  11. The way the club is in debt to certain directors, this could get very bad very quickly. Hopefully that won't happen and we'll continue to limp along like a wounded duck.
  12. It does have the advantage of keeping out the usual lurkers and saboteurs but in the long run vetting also leads to most people becoming aggressively sycophantic, with endless backslapping and an SNP-like attitude to dissenting opinion, which is broadly why I left VB after many years - great motivation and unmatched at action before bullshit but ultimately stifling.
  13. Like the hapless Rangers Supporters Trust before them, Club1872 looks in hock to the club, caught in no man's land and emasculated by its own ambitions with respect to any meaningful representation of supporter opinion. They play at committees, trapped by an agenda that was always worryingly narrow. As individuals they may be well-meaning but as an organisation they seem to have a forlorn lack of direction. That statement shows exactly why the board will never be unduly concerned about Club1872 making uncomfortable waves and why the support needs to look elsewhere for leadership. If nothing else, it should be clear that a Club1872 seat on the board would, in practice, achieve very little for the ordinary supporter.
  14. This board doesn’t do master strokes. I expect another false dawn next season.
  15. Blah blah blah Wtf was that about?
  16. Where's the rope?
  17. I was pretty depressed about our prospects before I read that list, now I see no hope at all. There simply has to be better than that mixture of has-beens and never-will-be's
  18. We've been a laughing stock for years. I'm now waiting for the announcement that Miller is suing the club.
  19. Investigation, what investigation? That should have taken a few hours at most and the statement today should have been decisive and conclusive ... not leaving everything hanging in the air as per bloody usual.
  20. I suspect Hibs will get every penny of that £5m.
  21. As always, it's all about cascading leadership. It's all about the board appointing the right manager and the right manager putting the right players on the park in the right frame of mind with the right game plan. That much we all know. Our problem has long been an inability to appoint the right manager, way before King, etc took over. We made a dog's breakfast of it after Jock Wallace left in 1978 before eventually getting it right with Souness, then bottled the decision but got very lucky with Smith, bought success with debt under Advocaat and haven't made one decent appointment since then, except reverting back to Smith when SDM ran out of even bad ideas. The idea that the current board is about to turn things round with an inspired appointment seems to be bordering on futile but I suppose we have to live in hope. The events of Sunday will continue to be repeated until or unless the Rangers board shows some ability to select and capture the right manager and that won't be easy. As we see constantly in discussion here and elsewhere, it's extremely difficult to even construct a decent shortlist who would even consider coming to Rangers. What. A. Fucking. Mess.
  22. If the Rangers board has offered the job to FdB then they’re still in gambling mode and God help us.
  23. He certainly knew a thing or two
  24. FFS it's bad enough without bring up that awful bloody day. I've never quite got over it.
