How pissed off must the average bheast be, seeing the headlines dominated by Rangers and Gerrard instead of another tainted title?
-
This begs two questions, even if just for the sake of asking them... 1. If all managers have been pro players, how is it possible to assess the feasibility of managers who haven't been players being successful? How do you assess something that doesn't exist - and if it doesn't exist, how do you use it to justify the need for playing experience? 2. Is there any evidence that it is being a pro player that provides successful managers with the ingredients they need for that success? Or would they have been successful anyway for other reasons?

There's no sign of the board having any candidates lined up and, like you, I think the chances of Gerrard becoming our next manager are low.

Graeme Murty 'relieved of his duties' as Rangers manager
Bill replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Well said. Murty has gone, the sniping should stop here. -
It's staggering really, almost incomprehensible. They've wiped the floor with us for years, seen us reduced to a shadow of our former status and yet they remain utterly obsessed with Rangers. It's as if Rangers surviving the shitstorm of recent years has hurt them more deeply than anything we ever did on the park.

Graeme Murty 'relieved of his duties' as Rangers manager
Bill replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Far too many people at Rangers are way out of their depth. Murty may have been the least of them but it's right he should go. It's still not clear of he walked or was pushed but if he wasn't pushed, however gently, then the board is living in a different world from me. -
I don't now if you can say he deserves criticism but we're fully entitled to provide it.
-
It feels like the silence you get before finding out they all packed their bags last night and flew to Paraguay having sold Ibrox to Sainsburys
-
The silence from Rangers is a disgrace.
-
You can certainly judge his managerial and leadership qualities but I don't think it's either productive or constructive to lay the blame for another failed season on someone who never actually sought the job. As for hurling abuse at Murty, that's contemptible.
-
How did the announcement go? How much are we getting?
-
Oh I don't know ....
-
Back to the pixies then? Or maybe the brand of tea we use? Or perhaps what you're saying is it's not any of them, it's all of them. You could write a philosophy thesis on this one.
-
Maybe it IS the f**king pixies
-
If you can't live with expectation, don't come to Rangers. If you remove those expectation it won't BE Rangers. It was always thus.
-
I think you're actually saying the manager has no part to play in leadership and establishing the winning ethos you want. Maybe we have the wrong kind of pixies cutting the grass at Auchenhowie? We've had four failures in a row because we've had four inadequate managers in a row. And how you can so readily absolve the board that appointed those managers is bizarre.

Not a chance

There's possibly too much talk about experience or the lack of it, and not enough focus on the calibre of the person. Wallace and Souness were leaders, so was Walter Smith - I'm sure their strength of character carried them through many a time when their experience was lacking. If Steven Gerrard is made of the right stuff then he will be a success at Rangers. If he's not then it won't matter what experience he has or hasn't got. On the face of it, listening to those who know him, I think there's every chance he can make it here.

Sorry - wrong topic
-
You're running away with entirely the wrong stick, again. The fact we've wasted those seasons was evident today, regardless of our financial position with respect to Celtic, a gap everyone accepts and that has prompted many (myself included) to predict it was always going to take several seasons to catch up. However, over the last three seasons we've got through three managers, umpteen players, several £m's and still not achieved either stability or direction in football operations. Whether we could ever have won the league title during this period is doubtful in my opinion but the least we should have expected were clear targets and progress towards them. Frankly, the performances now are no better, and possibly worse, than under Warburton. I see no obvious plan going forward and I've currently no idea where we're going as a club. That's why I think we've wasted three seasons.
-
Sorry, I've really no idea what you're trying to say ... or why. Cheers.
-
That's three wasted seasons now. If the new investment isn't significant and we have to persevere with the current group of players, we'll waste a few more before tasting success again. Steven Gerrard must be thinking this is a no-lose proposition. How can he possibly fail to improve on the present shambles.

Stop it with that half baked shite
-
The board should show some respect for our fans by releasing Murty from his responsibilities today. Not as a means of allocating blame but as a gesture of respect for the fans. You cannot serve up that shit and not show some response. They can give the job to the catering manager for the remaining three games for all it matters.
