Michael O’Halloran suffers vile sectarian abuse after Catholic church visit
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
My dear precious wee flower, I have insulted no one. I've used no bad language and I've made no accusations. Perhaps you didn't like the humour but I think what you are so upset about is that I have challenged your claims that people voted in a binary independence referendum for reasons other than breaking up the UK. I've also challenged your claim that 50% of Rangers fans voted for independence. You clearly don't like being challenged. Instead of getting all weepy and petulant, why not provide some evidence or reasonable analysis to support your claims. It might be more appropriate than getting your pretendy-offendy hat on. Cheers. -

Such as ... for example? Let's see, there's a referendum with two options, yes or no to independence ... but you think there are all sorts of reasons for voting yes. Mental deficiency perhaps? Are you trying to say 50% of Rangers supporters vote for independence? I think naive might have been an understatement. You're seriously saying no Rangers supporter should ever criticise the SNP. I've heard it all now! -

People vote yes for only one reason - to break up the UK. This is a topic about sectarian abuse, not football. In any case, the notion that you can isolate football from politics in Scotland, or vice versa, is a bit naive. -
If only our numbers at away games would diminish. It might help if Rangers gave a significant discount to ST holders for Rangers TV subscriptions.

Rangers abuse claim victim told to contact liquidators for compensation

There seems to be a flood of distractions in the media at the moment. Is there something going on elsewhere? -

They're clearly morons whoever they are but unless they work for or act on behalf of Rangers, morons is all they are. People who say these things are revolting. By all means criticise the Catholic Church as an institution if you think it deserves it but having a go at MOH in such a way is unacceptable in every sense. Look, you and I both know the purpose of articles like this is to cast a slur on Rangers. The fact that the article attributes no formal blame to Rangers and yet here we are automatically "inserting" Rangers into the narrative for them is quite telling. That was my only point. Edit - I should just add that I have no idea if the accounts of those who made the abusive posts are real or concocted. -

As Neil Young wrote ... “ coming apart at every seam”. Joy.

People need to understand it doesn’t need to be all or nothing. If, in your example, only half of those 3000 stayed away, that would still be a considerable hardship for Hibs. The more the better but there’s actually room for both opinions.

Only if this time the money is kept out of the hands of the cretins who gave away the last donation I made for the express purpose of defending Rangers against its enemies.

The entire fenían = catholic thing is a contrivance. We all know it is. I've no intention of being frightened off by a contrivance.
-
No, the word "fenían" has nothing at all to do with Catholicism, Roman or otherwise. Some people, for their own purposes, have tried long and hard to persuade you that it is ... to the extent they have effectively redefined the term ... such is the power of victimhood in our precious modern society ... but it isn't. Google says ... "a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, a 19th-century revolutionary nationalist organization among the Irish in the US and Ireland. The ******s staged an unsuccessful revolt in Ireland in 1867 and were responsible for isolated revolutionary acts against the British until the early 20th century, when they were gradually eclipsed by the IRA." No mention of Catholics. Of course we could always just change the words and say up to the knees in IRA blood ... would that do?
-
Something does need to change. I don't think we have a single player who isn't performing below their potential, some of them well below. That suggests a failure of leadership and it won't matter who we sign or how much we spend if we can't address this key issue.

Well said, a great point. Jock Wallace understood. Should we have a billy boys haka?

Terrific podcast. Ross led the line like a pro. Well done to all - when do you add video? (Still think an hour is a tad too long though) -
Sorry, I don't get it, what's wrong with that? I know that's what they don't like but their preferences surely don't dictate what's legal or not. Are feníans a protected species? Have all football songs been similarly sanitised? Of course not. Personally, I thought the famine song should be brought back, surely the most astute attack on bullshit I've heard in years.
-
Whatever he goes for it will be too much.
-
What's wrong with TBB? I know they don't like it but, apart from their propensity for victimhood, is there anything actually wrong with the song?

Since when did abstaining count as support?

I echo Gaffer's advice. Don't listen to them and it's amazing how soon they simply cease to exist.

One of the key factors in Rangers challenging for the league over the next few years is Celtic failing to qualify for the CL group stage. They cannot maintain the same level of squad without it. -
It's not a question of being allowed to. It's a free choice whether anyone supports our enemies or not.
