This is by far the most important point raised in this topic. The answer lies at the heart of the entire problem.

They already know it. They're just never going to admit it in public. -
The EPL is a poor imitation of what football means to me. Throw £120m at Wick Academy every year and they'd have a good crack at winning the SPL. What are we supposed to do, abandon our own clubs and coalesce into half a dozen mega clubs that compete for everything ... but only on tv. It makes me sick to see kids running around our village with Man City, Barcelona and Bayern shirts. I'd rather follow the fortunes of a real football club like Port Vale or Portsmouth than any Manchester club.

What I don’t understand is why they didn’t apply for visas a week ago or more. Why leave it? It Almost looks deliberate.
-
There will be ****s all over the Home Office working round the clock to make sure the visas come through in time.

The unexpected rehabilitation of Andy Halliday takes another step forward. -
Pro bono?
-
The only surprise is she's not basing herself at Celtic Park.

To be fair to Bearger, he didn't say "looking likely it will get thrown out" He said "looking likely it may be thrown out" He may or may not be spinning as suggested but re-inventing his words doesn't help these debates.

That’s the spirit, welcome back Kyle Lafferty. ? -
Celtic have essentially had a bye to win trophies over the last six years but their fans crow like their achievement has genuine value. The shit will soon be flowing down the crumbling stands at Parkhead.

We seem to be able to field a team of players who all work to the same plan. It looks controlled and coordinated and its been a very long time since that was the case. The distance we've come in a few weeks is astonishing. A wee word for Andy Halliday. A while ago it looked like his only future was the exit door but he's found a way to fight for a place in a far better side and get the odd game. He's definitely not our most talented player and he'll never be first choice but, despite all the criticism, he is finally showing that most wonderful thing in a Rangers player ... character.

Interesting post ... but ... The issue here isn't Still Game or what size of UK audience is attracted to a World Cup game. This is specifically about an increasingly informed Rangers support with an available, more relevant and palatable alternative - and what THEY think about the specific football offering from BBC Scotland, as it concerns Rangers. How many hits the BBC website gets from the wider public is almost irrelevant.
-
As trublusince1982 said above, I'd love to see subscription data.
-
I also wish RTV would consult more often with it's audience to make sure it develops in the best direction.
-
RTV has a range of subscription options that should provide for all needs. I think it has improved hugely over the last few years and I'm sure will continue to do so as this becomes more and more important to the support.

I heard several recent examples of the deep-rooted sense of entitlement among the Celtic community. The CL will be "poorer for not having Celtic in it". Celtic might have to "drop down" to the EL for a season but the league title is a "foregone conclusion" and they'll be back in the big league again next year. Rangers might be spending "a bit more" on players but are still a "long way" from challenging Celtic. The joy of this mass delusion will become clear on the day Rangers win the league title, whether this season or in the future. I believe we will see a melt down the likes of which hasn't been seen in living memory. For me, it's essential we enjoy every second of it because the journey will become more hysterical as the realisation begins to bite that the party might indeed be coming to an end.

Marvellous summary.

We do get coverage. Far better coverage and more extensive coverage than the BBC will ever offer. It's called Rangers TV, the Rangers website, Rangers Facebook, Rangers Twitter and the Rangers You Tube account. These could always be improved but they're there, they're well priced and they're infinitely better informed than the BBC. All you need to do is use them. Forget the BBC and the current dispute. It isn't going to be resolved by anything Rangers does and the BBC certainly won't be changing their ways. Move on, the past is over. Like the BBC, the dispute is now irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that we have an effective and accessible communication with our club.
-
It's pointless to compare RTV with a level of perfection that doesn't exist anywhere. You can only compare it with other available alternatives, which are universally dire. Tom Miller may not be to everyone's taste but no one ever would be, regardless who it was. The only thing that really matters is that RTV strives to improve at all times and to offer Rangers fans the best coverage it can. As it stands today, for our purposes, it is head and shoulders above both domestic Scottish TV options and the subscription alternatives.

Assuming they all take up their full option. Or that every participating shareholder is granted equal rights.

Tax is paid on cumulative annual net profit, not cash or income. -
Well said. We have so many more achievable ambitions than wasting the and energy on an issue that wasn't of our making and where the other party isn't in the least interested in anything but continuing the fight. What I would like to see is the club make a lot more noise about the discriminatory conduct of the BBC. By all means take them on but don't negotiate an issue that is theirs alone to solve.

Some can't help clinging to the past as they fling themselves off a cliff of fantasy.

The streaming point is a good one. This would be an easy solution, so long as it's technically feasible, which almost everything is if you want it enough. It might also be a nice kick in the nads to the Sportsound crew.
