Permanently chilled. Hence the unerring righteous eloquence 😉

You must have missed that being then and this being now 😉

No, I just stick to what I see. I don't pretend to have a crystal ball that shows me what I don't see. Speculating about an unknown future is pointless and distracting.

[Club Statement] Motherwell (A) moved to Christmas Eve
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I wouldn't mind so much if Sky actually paid decent money to show our games. -
I don't think critics are necessarily being unfairly negative. Every player who has shown capable has been embraced by the support in general - Danilo, Sima, Tamundo, Yilmaz ....... it's only those who turn in sub par performances week after week that draw negative observation. If and when Dessers or Lammers start playing like decent additions then they will find willing support too. It does no one any good to pretend underperforming players are anything but that.

The pointless gossip I referred to was the assumption that Souness would be advising on the footballing operation ...... for which I can see not one shred of evidence .... by all means share it if you have it but I can't see it anywhere. Edit - perhaps I'm not making it clear that there are many other roles that Souness could be consulted on part from football operations - media, PR, fan communications, etc

What the board needs is a clear steer that allows it to make a decision, not a spaghetti of contorted opinion and counter opinion that would certainly come from the sort of committee process you mentioned
-
Yes but maybe easiest isn’t best 😉

If everyone else had merely done what was expected of them, we would have beaten Sparta 7-0
-
Has anyone actually said he would be a football consultant? This is the worst bit of pointless gossip since Jack Butland joined Birmingham City.
-
What you’re advocating is appointment by committee. Which, as in every other walk of life, is almost guaranteed to reach the worst decision possible. Committee governance is the best way I know of making sure leaders are stifled by managers.
-
Like I said elsewhere, some of the support is badly spooked and prone to leaping into negativity at the first opportunity. They seem so wedded to seeing the worst in everything that you have to assume the worst cases are determined to poke the scars of recent years in an unremitting feast of misery. Life's too short for that shit.

It seems no time since I was reading such wisdom about Beale .... "there's a manager in there, I think he'll come good". There wasn't and he didn't. It will be the same with Dessers and Lammers. We might want them to come good but, like Beale, it isn't going to happen. They're not up to what's required of them and no amount of wishful thinking is ever going to change that. Trust your eyes.

Avoiding the ball is his best attribute. It's when he gets the ball that it all goes to shit.
-
I thought Butland (for clear and obvious reasons), Souttar and Sima all showed well. Cantwell and Wright did OK too. Raskin and especially Lundstram seemed incapable of the 10 yard pass and conceded possession far too often. The much criticised Lammers and Dessers deserved much criticism. They were tragic.

You've obviously got some surplus generosity you need to get rid of. 🤣
-
You would assume he would be paid like anyone else is paid.
-
I’ll be amazed if Souness is to have any role in football operations. Much more likely he will focus on supporter relations in an attempt to reassure and bolster a profoundly spooked fan base.
-
God save us from the negativity of people trying to drag us backwards when we're starting to move forwards. I mean, what exactly is the point of that post? Graeme Souness having a role at Rangers isn't about his opinion of Frank Lampard or anyone else. It's about him making a contribution to our club.

The worth of individual games is somewhat limited right now. More important is stopping the rot and achieving the right direction of travel. Then starting to build positive momentum. In that respect I thought this game was a small but useful step.

It's time to leave 1991 behind and welcome back such a high-profile advocate of Rangers. He knows which stones our detractors live under.

I didn’t dare mention the tyrannical admin wallahs?

Another icon passes.

Especially those antediluvian pygmies

Sparta are flying high domestically and it will take a minor miracle to get anything out of this game. I think this one is more about coming home again feeling good that we continued to show progress.
