Davies was superb over the piece too. It was hard to separate these two.

That’s pretty much the players I would pick out too but I’ll go for Ryan Jack … unspectacular but absolutely essential work in midfield. His best game in ages.

Match Thread [FT] Rangers 2 (Danilo 11; Cantwell 20) - 1 Sparta Prague

Disgraceful, disgusting, ignorant manager? Clement has been here five minutes, with the same players who lost at home to Aberdeen, and he’s still not delivering 90 minutes of perfection. What’s the point of winning in Europe if fans are going to be let down as badly as this? -

Sparta have been far below the level they showed in Prague but we’ve been twice the team. Davies had a good first half and the Jack-Lundstram combo is working well again. Sima and Cantwell providing great outballs. -

More or less what I expected but would like to have seen Tom Lawrence start instead of Lammers. Tough opponent - I think a draw will be a good result tonight. -

The HoF has been a can of worms for years. Too many players who probably shouldn't be in it. The likes of Tiny and Jimmy are more deserving than many of the names on that board.

[Official] Rangers appoint Zurab Amirian as Head of Academy

I've long questioned the point of committing resources to a youth program that produces so little benefit to the trophy cabinet. Either the youth programme is flawed or the entire concept is pointless. At the moment we appear to be pursuing a youth set up purely out of little more than habit. as things stand, I'd prefer if the entire football operation was dedicated to the first team squad. -
If the assumption is that the club will finance by itself a 40% expansion of stadium capacity then it's probably right be cynical. However, there are other ways to view this. For example, should Rangers enter into an arrangement with an external developer to create (say) a hotel or office complex at one end of the ground then at least part of the expansion becomes financially possible. I believe it is only by acquiring development partners that such significant redevelopment of the stadium becomes truly feasible. I would be very surprised if Bisgrove didn't realise this long ago.
-
If either the Copland or Broomloan stands were redeveloped as a hotel, with costs mainly borne by the hotelier, then that much becomes much more possible. Always a way to skin the cat.

I remember talk of completing seating of the corners and maybe adding about 10,000 in total but I don't remember any mention of increasing the two end stands by up to 10,000 each. That would be a 70,000+ stadium. The old story is where does the money come from?

Thanks for the update. It's been so long since I saw anything made public that I wondered if there was a problem with planning consent.

Can anyone remind me please, when is the construction work due to start on the new facilities for supporters in wheelchairs and have any plans been made available?

Does anyone know if we are the 'home' or 'away' team in this final?

Absolutely. And Tavernier isn't the only one who seems to have got his shit together again. Lundstram and Raskin are transformed, Sima is charging about like a bull with a spike up its arse and Scott Wright looks renewed. This might be a decent season after all. -
That’s how all commentary should be. I hate sports commentators who try to make themselves the entertainment

There are few things in football better than seeing a struggling player suddenly find his self-belief and start turning in performances that see his detractors get behind him. -

The difference in work rate across the whole squad is remarkable and that can be down to no one other than the manager, who appears to be as astute as Beale was bone headed. But the improvement he's brought to certain players is even more impressive. For example, from virtual exile in the footballing wilderness, Scott Wright now plays like he believes he's a worthy member of the team. There are green shoots appearing and for the first time in ages I'm starting to flirt with that dangerous old tease called hope. Lots of good performances today, I thought the midfield pairing of Jack and Lundstram were particularly effective. Lundstram has been in good form for a while now but I was starting to think Jack might struggle to find a place. However, the last two games have convinced me we are a better side when Jack plays and the more he plays the better he gets. -
At - definitely the ECWC semi-final against Bayern Munich in 1972. Not at - the 3-0 win at Parkhead in May 1999 to win the league and humiliate Celtic.

I'm disappointed to see Barisic back in the starting line up. He tends to suck the energy out of games with his endless backward passing. Hopefully he will have a decent game and Clement will have told him to stop the negative passing stuff. Also slightly surprised Wright didn't keep his place but he will no doubt feature later on. Good to see Danilo starting. All eyes on Lammers. Can he justify his place after scoring midweek.
