Yes, Souness has said that.
-
Clement refuted Souness said what? He's directly quoted saying this on the radio: “There were two outstanding candidates; Frank Lampard and Philippe. The final say wasn’t with me. “For me, Frank had the edge because of this; Frank, I think, has still got a great deal to offer. Taking the Chelsea job when he did was always going to be very, very difficult. The Everton job is a basket case. And have they improved since Frank left? Not a bit. “So, I wouldn’t be too critical of Frank. The thing that encouraged me about Frank is that he wanted to do it. He doesn’t need the money. He wants to be a successful manager. And he fancied the Rangers job.”

To be fair, I think it's clear Lammers has some good qualities as a footballer, but he is absolutely scared shitless. It's at the point where he appears to have already accepted that whatever he does isn't going to work. In my opinion there is a huge psychological job to be done on him, not convinced he can turn it around after what has been 3 failed years and counting, it looks ingrained. -
He is literally talking about a consultancy role i.e. a role to provide expert advice on the football aspect of the club. He's not interviewing to be club mascot. I don't want a consultant that provides advice that we should sign a manager who has continuously failed, Jesus imagine having Lampard in right now. Happy to have him back in another role.
-
Yes, happy to have him working at the club. But if it's consulting and that's his advice then it isn't worth it.

I didn't think we looked great defensively to be honest, only Sparta's poor finishing and a few great saves got us that draw. But too often they just walked through our midfield and defence. -
I don't care how detailed a response is if it's wrong.
-
Sure, he's entitled to his opinion, and if that's it he can keep his opinion to himself!
-
Given he was apparently backing Lampard I think I can leave his consultancy expertise behind.

Im just going to say that isn't necessarily true. Our result against Betis was only a few weeks ago and he changed things there. Whilst we can't say Beale was a good manager, it would also be remiss to be so definitive about a fictitious scenario. -

Much better 2nd half, but still, the transfer window can't come soon enough. At least Danilo looks like he might have something. But a point was all we deserved. Not sure why Lammers and Dessers got so long, can Cantwell not manage a full game yet? -

The ref has been really poor. Really poor. -

Dessers and Lammers are absolutely shite. This is nearly as bad as the Cyprus game. Thank feck for Butland. Sima and Cantwell have at least added some creativity and positivity but for most of the game we've been on the ropes and just been horribly reactive. -

What's wrong with Ally? Love him. -
No, I agree with the time that the board sacked him.
-
I didn’t think it was right to sack someone 4 games into the season, I don’t think it’s a good reflection of our club either.

Poll Re-run: Who is your preferred choice as the new manager?
PoohBear replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
I voted Clement but I might as well have voted for Patrick Swayze for the amount I really know about them. I just can't quite get past that very poor period Muscat had in Belgium. -

A lot of noise about it being Clement but I’ve just seen he wears trainers with his suit and that is not on. I sincerely hope someone hands him some brown brogues before he is offered the job. We need to get the right fit for our football club. -

Not convinced this is an appropriate time to throw in Lovelace, particularly when we may have a new manger round the corner. But with that said, I hope he does well and gives the new manager something to consider. -

Someone on the Heart and Hand podcast made a very good point about hiring Muscat, a lot of the Japanese players contracts are up in December and Muscat would potentially have great knowledge and pull for the players that would be worth signing on a free. It's possible that it could swing the appointment in his direction as it's clear we badly need to fresh players even after the summer investment.
