  1. While I can appreciate Tom Lawrence's ability and think he can do us a good turn if he performs at the level he can, its his attitude/personality I'm not a fan of and has been the part of the reason I was a bit sceptical since he was rumoured.... He had a run in with Tav in the friendly a year or two ago which was completely unprovoked from what I saw but he was also a big part of what got Richard Keogh sacked by Derby County a few years back. I leave you with a few quotes from Richard Keogh... “I hadn’t spent the evening with Tom," he said. “I had no reason to believe he was over the limit. Everyone was in there before me so I didn’t think: ‘Hang on a minute.’ It was just: ‘OK. I need to get home. Let’s go.’ "The next thing I know I’m waking up and speaking to the paramedics.” The incident saw Keogh get in Lawrence's car, along with two other unnamed players, after a team night out in a village pub in rural Derbyshire. All those involved then fled the scene, except Keogh, who was left behind, unconscious. After coming to, Keogh detailed how he convinced paramedics he was ok to walk home, before eventually being picked up by police officers and escorted back to his house. Lawrence and Bennett were later arrested and would plead guilty at Derby magistrates court in October 2019 to drink-driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. They were hit with driving bans and community service. Keogh claims he was under the impression Lawrence was sober, but just a minute into the drive, the Range Rover carrying them ploughed into the back of Bennett's Mercedes at a give-way point, before veering off into a lamp-post. Despite only being a passenger in the car, Keogh was the player who Derby chose to come down hardest on. His contract was ripped up, with Derby citing gross misconduct due to him not wearing a seatbelt in the accident - a legal battle Keogh later won, with the club ordered to pay up the rest of his contract. His sacking was after he had already rejected an offer on reduced terms. Meanwhile, Lawrence and Bennett - younger players with greater resale value - were retained. Hopefully he's grown up, being given the captains armband at Derby, you would like to think he must have....
  2. I'm pretty sure I saw Alfie on one of the training videos on RangersTV in a gym workout with McGregor and Jack
  3. New name appeared this morning on various sites that I've not seen mentioned yet, Kai Meriluoto Looks promising as a youngster and seems to have scored goals wherever he's been.... granted at a lower level, but he's only 19
  4. Would be a nice surprise, not ever heard of Bongonda before... Why is it we do our medicals in Manchester, i'm sure quite a few of the signings in recent history have had their medicals in Manchester?
  5. Whos Bogonda? Not seen him mentioned yet, I assume from a little help from Uncle Google, Théo Bongonda?
  6. very good point and I will take a positive out of it... Its good they've noticed this at an early stage rather than when they're expected to be challenging the B squad 😁
  7. This is a great thread on the current state of the transfer market, if you have a few spare mins, give it a read... A lot of it is relevant to our situation
  8. Was never really sold on that one, always came across as an agent flinging club names to see what would stick...
  9. Strangely for Castore, I already have a dispatch email to say my order from this morning is on its way, I guess the only problem now is its with Hermes and in my area that means I won't see it for a week or so, if at all
  10. I'm indifferent, we've had better and we've had worse 🤣 The sleeve sponsor just seems to take most of the attention
  11. I actually found myself watching a Linfield game last season on Sky and thought I'll keep watching to see how he does, he came on as a sub and I was quite surprised at how 'off the pace' and untidy he looked, especially after some of the stuff he had done at Motherwell. As you say, definitely worth the risk at the time.
  12. hmmm, doesn't want to 'waste another season on the bench' but happy to move to Manchester United? I guess he won't sit on the bench there, more in the stands...
  13. His stats look hit and miss. At Malmo and the club before PAOK, Rijeka, he was more than 1 in 2 but his stats at PAOK are poor.. You never know but he reminds me Herrera, hopefully only in appearance rather than ability if the interest progresses
  14. I did wonder if thats why it took so long to tie McGregor down as I don't think it would have been a difficult deal. I had/have a small feeling there was an agreement between AM and Rangers that we were testing the waters with possible keeper signings to see if we could get a good keeper for a good deal with the knowledge that McGregor would agree to a further year if we couldn't get who we wanted.... Crystal Palace is where Butland is though.....
  15. Seen a couple of 'new' rumours this morning.... Ivan Lepinjica from Rijeka, but looks like Wolves are after this one too... https://www.footballinsider247.com/wolves-rangers-lepinjica/ Tyrhys Dolan, young winger from Blackburn... https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2022/06/20/report-nottingham-forest-rival-rangers-and-celtic-for-tyrhys-dolan/ Dolan looks the most likely of the two to me
  16. For the first time in a long time, I will potentially be in Scotland for a home game Now comes the fun of trying to acquire tickets.. Looking for 2 together for the first home game of the season, 6th August v Kilmarnock
  17. Seen a couple of teams returning for pre-season today, anybody know when we're back in?
  18. I think this would be the best for all parties, but, I just don't know if thats something McCrorie would be happy to do again. I agree though, 24 year goalkeeper is probably the equivalent of a 20/21year old outfield player, just starting out
  19. Its been a while since I was last on the forums, but, i'm back Just to wade in on the GK stuff, its a strange one for me but if McGregor is going to sign a new contract, I would hope he would be pragmatic and understand, he should not be number 1. If that is case, I do believe there does need to be a refersh of some sort and I would even go to the point of really chasing either Butland (if the fee is as low as claimed) or the Turkish keeper on a free and trying to move McCrorie on. I understand thats probably an unpopular oppinion but I think from both sides, its probably best that way. Robbie needs to play games and we need somebody to really push the other two keepers. The only reason I would be against that refresh would be that sometime keepers don't settle how you would expect. I feel that if Robbie was going to make it at Rangers, we would at least be talking about that by now but at the moment, its an average spell at Livingston and an Old Firm appearance..
