What other organisation deliberately tries to aggravate and piss off its customer base and subscriber like they do and what national news organisation outside some despotic tyrannical state holds such a large proportion of its national audience in contempt as they do. Breathtaking arrogance. Superb stuff from RFC Erskine. Put them in their place.

What I’ve heard from a very good media source is he was ready to sign but King told him at the last minute he was going to reconsider the compensation deal with the sheep. McInnes has a good relationship with Milne and didn’t want to be part of it.

We have to pay their wages.

I’ll give up hope of the cup when we’re out and I’ll give up the target of second when it’s impossible. That is surely the time to evaluate and based on funding make a decision and to judge the board. We can discuss managers all night long but the team needs another £10m spent on it. Depending on how much money is available will make it easier to understand our managerial options.

If we finish second and win the cup?

Northern Ireland play in green but I am sure folk wouldn’t object to that if folk wore their top at Ibrox. I take the point about dressing up ?.

Without money we’re not going to get a good top experienced manager who we can be confident in. They will want to bring their own backroom staff in and will still need funds for better players. They will also need to understand the Scottish game. I can’t see an obvious choice. Our stated model is to bring in, develop and sell players and back them up with a core of experienced professionals hopefully with talent who understand the challenge of playing for Rangers. I think we have been badly hit through injuries to key players and if the likes of Jack, McRorie, Wallace and Dorrans get back we should be more consistent and results might have been better had they been around and the view on Murty might be more positive. You then then improve and add a few fresh faces from a blend of experienced pros and developing youngsters. This was always going to be a process over a few years at least and we unfortunately lost 3 years of our recovery through a second year in the championship, McCoist, Warburton and Pedro not always doing the right thing. If we believe Murty can do the above (and why couldn’t he?) we need to keep him. If it takes another year it’s tough but our progress has generally been greater under him than the others. We are complaining about tactical errors against Celtic which cost us the game last week. He has been tactically astute twice at porkheid. We could have won that game last week or at least drawn it. A year or so ago we were watching OF games through our fingers with a sense of dread. In fact that was the case earlier this season. Celtic are favourites for the semi but it’s not a firegone conclusion. I don’t think you need to be a tactical genius in the SPFL and he can learn from mistakes he has made. What we need by and large is better players and the point about leadership on the park is a good one. In any case case we need to see where we finish in the league and we need to get behind Murty for this cup match. If he wins that all this negativity will diminish and if we also finish ahead of Aberdeen it would be a brave decision to remove him.

He’s from Ballymena apparently. Celebrating St Patrick’s day which isnt an issue as he’s Northern Irish. More right to celebrate that than most of the bufoons who were in that stand last week. A tad risky perhaps but it shouldn’t be.

I think the whooooosh is on you fs. I was endorsing your post. I’m perfectly aware you were posting in ironic / sarcasm mode.

Nothing is in dispute. The only question is what our board are going to do. We dont need to wait on police reports and go through this line by line. If we need their money at the expense of our fans safety then we are in a worse place than I thought.

It was a red all day long. The linesman called it right. No story.

It all depends on our ambition and that depends on budget. I’m happy with progress under him and our style of football but if a load of cash appears I’d want a more established winning manager and one who knows Scottish football. I don’t want to appear disrespectful but he might be as good as we can get at the moment. -
Fair assessment Frankie.

Don’t know. Ask the SNP. I don’t support them. You are saying the SNP are anti Rangers. You are doing that to promote a poltical view. Many of us wish to keep politics out of Rangers.
-
You said that in the context that ‘no one from the SNP had outed themselves as a Rangers fan’. My context is that neither had labour or Tory supporters in any significant numbers (count fingers on hand). I think you are politicising football by inferring the SNP are anti Rangers when I’m fact lots of folk are and they vote for different parties. If you politicise Rangers then expect to have enemies. Don’t moan about it.
-
I don’t regard myself as a remaining pillar of unionism fs and neither do lots of Rangers fans. When you say “us” you are not speaking for everyone. Many of “us” don’t give a flying feck about politics. More to the point we won’t be lectured on who to vote for or what church we should go to or whether we believe in a god at all. Anyone can come to my house and talk about politics, religion, etc and they can look at my Rangers memorabilia and I will entertain them and enjoy the debate. The moment they suggest I am not a Rangers fan and justify it for their own political ends is when they leave. 50 years a Rangers fan, longer than I’ve bern interested in politics. You will not take my club away from me.
-
I agree there are folk in the SNP who were voted in on a few hundred votes or a few thousand and are nobodies who vilify us. They are of the George Galloway ‘look at me’ brand. I have met plenty of labour and Tory folk who equally hate us. Since 2012 we all have. People cotton on to Rangers because we are a big club and they use our name one way or the other. That’s all it is but let’s be clever in how we deal with that and at the moment we’re not.
-
I agree mate. Folk bleatbabout why the club isn’t standing up for them and protecting our image but can’t see the problem with this. For me this is nothing but it’s propaganda gold for our enemies and therefore does mean something.
-
I know plenty of Rangers fans who are on both sides of the Indy debate. I for one won’t be lectured on which football team I should support or who I should vote for. Rangers is first and foremost a football club and embraces all colours and creeds. If people don’t like that philosophy then they are the ones with the problem and they don’t understand the sporting origins of our club. I support the club set up by the founding fathers and I don’t recall any great political statements they made. It’s Rangers, it’s blue and it’s Ibrox. Nothing more needs to be said.
-
I sometimes think we should bring back national service. Get these clowns and the GB counterparts doing something useful. If they want to fight then there have been plenty of opportunities abroad in recent years. They might even get to grow up as well as look pretendy tough.
-
We can mess around with legal arguments all day long and for years. The club have the power to protect our fans inside the stadium. Show leadership and exert authority. We are doing nothing. Absolutely nothing. I said before if one of these things gets thrown into the directors box do we seriously think they would say or do nothing? It is contempt of our fans and 1872 should get involved. Our fans have done more than anyone to keep this club going and are being treated like second class citizens not just by celtic fans but even worse by our own board.

gersnet article (image) Preaching politicians score own goal

I can’t give any credence to NBM. Following reaction by them to our fans songs I thought I’d test them and I contacted them about a former Rangers manager getting the ‘cheer up......sad o..... b........” song. I offered the relevant media and time to listen on the recording to make it easy. I asked them 3 times (politely) if they had a view. I didn’t get a single response. The UB thing is daft and not representative of an impending krystallnacht as some would happily want many to believe but some of our fans seem very good at not understanding the environment we operate in and shooting themselves and inthe process the clubin the foot. The independent media can report what they want and not much we can do about it. Politicians pander to what they think will help re-election and offer soundbites to get votes. The best thing we can do as a club is get back to winning and to please Rangers fans. We can’t win this media war so devote all time and energy to football success.- 8 replies

Great attitude and good level of ability. Right move.

I think what is being suggested is not to blame them but that club 1872 are lobbied to ask the board what they are doing about an issue which is bothering lots of fans who they represent. Others may lobby to maintain celtics fans at Ibrox but recent events have moved this on from a dislike at the over prominence they have in our stadium to genuine concern about escalating trouble at Ibrox which the police and stewards seem unable to control. I would imagine it is within 1872 remit to inform the Board of fan concerns and challenge their efficacy in managing the problem. The guy organising the petition was affected by one of these firecrackers and has been to his doctor suffering from hearing problems. I personally dint mind these things going off as they add to the atmosphere in my opinion but lobbying them into a group of people is more than a step to far. It is reason alone to restrict their allocation significantly. The risk of escalating trouble was pointed out to the Board and this has now manifested itself in serious incidents. I am am totally baffled that anyone would object to robust measures being taken to protect our own fans. I am more baffled that they would accept their own ticket at the piggery as an acceptable trade off.
