  1. I was told last week from source very closely connected to former Board member there was no external investment on the horizon that he was aware of. I was hoping it wasn’t true but it seemed unlikely it could have been untrue given the position of the person. My only thought was perhaps DK was doing a private deal to get out but that doesn’t look likely either based on this. Even Gerrard can’t turn that team around so what we do now is a mystery to me.
  2. ...I know no one intends to compare the sun hillsborough stuff and our situation as there is no real comparison but why anyone would buy that rag even fir it’s supposed news is beyond me. I’d seriosly remove voting rights.
  3. Bit of competition no bad thing.
  4. A genuine Liverpool legend versus Brendan Rogers.
  5. He cant spend it unless he’s got it tho.
  6. Politics should be kept out of football. Leave that deluded pysh and the self righteousness that accompanies it to the Tims. I wouldn’t take my political viewpoint from any football fan just because they supported the same club as me.
  7. Not sure investing in Scottish fitba indicates financial wizardry but well take the dosh if it’s there!
  8. The app contract is a non story. Rangers are not a government dept.
  9. It was quite hard to believe the ages. The Celtic captain was a big lad and some of the others were very athletic looking. Our lads played very composed stuff for their age. They presented themselves for the ball and were comfortable in tight spaces. Hopefully we can broaden our scouting and bring the best players into this set up coz it looks to be working.
  10. You have to say it’s always the usual characters. In fairness to the sheep and hearts they usually mind their own business and keep their gobs shut.
  11. It’s already been reported he will get money on a case by case basis. Of course that doesn’t indicate a size if budget but it is prudent management. The same folk screaming from the media thatvwe have ni money are thecsanevfilk who screamed we were irresponsible with our previous spending. If he takes the job I will feel a big sense of excitement but oddly if he doesn’t I’ll feel relieved. Can’t call this one at all. Has potential to accelerate us or derail us.
  12. That’s his professional background but used these skills to run investment banking at deutschebank in the City. If I was going to have a guess (and given Barry Scott resigned as well) I would suggest it is more to do with the Gerard appointment and how money should be invested. There may be disagreement in how the Gerard management offer is being structured with respect to investment or there may be disagreement in giving an inexperienced manager (and all the influence in investment he will have) the job. All guesswork but the timing would suggest that is the issue. I doubt it’s anything to do with TOP. No one would resign over that.
  13. Paul Murray doesn’t have much money (in football terms) but he does have strong investment management skills and as a result should have good contacts. He went round City of London a few years ago asking for cash but without much success. A mate of mine was asked but declined (good decision financially). It is unlikely he would be able to put significant personal cash into the club. He has put an awful lot of emotion goodwill and energy into the club and it has been an obsession for him. It would however be a strange time for him to choose to leave if we are in the brink of something exciting. I guess thats the question, ‘have they been asked to leave or chosen to leave?’ Good or bad I would agree it is a significant development particularly in Murray’s case as he’s blue through and through and lives for the club.
  14. It’s stopping him making an offer without cleared funds hence interdict. It’s not fundamentally changed anything. If he doesn’t do it he still gets punished. If Alkoosher gave us details about Kings clearing account lacking funds that would be more interesting.
  15. I would imagine it was a Board decision. My concerns are not over a single issue. Murty position is symptomatic of a continued lack of control at the club. If the Board don’t let him run the club then we don’t need an MD. if he has been running it then he’s made a super mess of it. He might be a good FD but he’s nowhere near MD material and certainly not on a salary of 250k.
  16. I have it from very strong source very close to Milne that King told McInnes he would negotiate with Milne over the compo and that is what changed McInnes mind.
  17. I listened to the Murphy conversation on talksport and the main thing he said was Gerrard was excited but wanted assurances regarding investment. He also said Gerrard would not be put off by the scale of the challenge but implied he was a bright chap and had questions. I’ll maybe have a look at the ‘investment’ tomorrow thread but on second thoughts I’ll probably just wait for the ‘Investment confirmed yesterday thread’ as that must be key. Murphy is also a big mate and confidant of Gerrard according to others on the radio so probably worth noting what he says.
  18. We said the same about the injury time penalty missed v killie before Pedro left. If it hadn’t been the Morelos miss or the candeias pen it would have been something else. Lack of quality throughout the club. Murty had to step down as the first team us in free fall at the moment but he was put in a very difficult position and his leadership authority has been challenged by the DK statements before the cup and the Gerard leaks now. The club has treated him pretty poorly imo considering he stepped in twice, saved a small fortune for the club in not recruiting a permanent manager and had a lot of players in the team he did not buy. They have obviously kept his academy job open. No one should begrudge him that especially as the youngsters are playing good football down through the ranks. I doubt however he will want to work for us and we have probably now lost a good academy asset as well as not having had s permanent manager for most of the season. Perhaps being in 3rd is quite remarkable. Correct to sack Murty from the manager job now but others should follow, in particular the MD who is supposed to be running this mess.
  19. Well done lads. Played good controlled football.
  20. He was there to give a sense of reassurance whilst the rest were ripping us off including 2 FDs, a chairman and Uncle Tom Cobley. In the process he did nicely himself.
  21. ...or they are involved in negotiation which is why it’s a clusterf... Guys like McCoist probably think 7k a week is nothing so they should be kept clear of financial matters in a club like Rangers. But of course Ally was there to front the operation, keep the fans quiet whilst the raping and pillaging went in in the background.
  22. Agree. Lots of folk who have put time and money in and lots of consensus mgt needed. I had assumed MD would lead but don’t see it. Parks in fact has been bought in to oversee investment strategy whatever it is.
  23. You don’t always need a Walter Smith iron fist to assert authority. I imagine Gerrard would command authority by his presence alone.
  24. The point is not to suggest a replacement for the Board. I cannot do that and ultimately they control even that aspect. The point is to demonstrate their failings and let them know about it. I’m sorry but a poor quality product is ultimately their responsibility. If a major reason for the poor product has been systemic poor recruitment and/ora poor work ethic and poor process and tools they can address that in a number of ways but they have to take accountability. This Board has put a sitting duck in place and remained silent. This Board has recruited (or not recruited) poorly. No one is suggesting it has been intentional but it is a fact that they have. This Board has squandered money and ultimately a poor product leads to the behaviour of others rubbing our faces in it. That affects our brand and image, it affects the atmosphere around the club and diminishes our status. That may in turn affect a generation of fans who may not support us which in turn will further affect an already dire product. If we had a good product now we would not be getting humiliated by the antics of others. There must definitely us a relationship with issues I mentioned and the product. I could have doubled the list of issues and others could have too. If our club make a laughing stock of themselves through stupid statements they deserve to be panned and that also affects our brand, image and attractiveness for recruitment and investment. That in turn affects the product. If we were doing better in the pitch then many of these statements wouldn’t be needed because they seem to be fob offs after poor results. If we cant improve RTV for example then income and advertising is affected. You suggest there is something in the way processes and culture operate at Auchenhowie. You may be partially correct I don’t know. Everyone who has worked there across a number of appointments however talks in glowing terms of the facility and how it operates. So contrary to your view that the tools are poor and they need replaced or improved, I would suggest that they do of course constantly need upgraded but the evidence is we don’t have the capability and people to use the tools properly. If the problem has been systemic in terms of tools, processes and people then it should have been identified and fixed by now. We’re not even even talking about a major company here. It is an SME in its assets, number of employees, finances, operating complexity, organisational structure, customer base. The Board should be on top of this especially if the product is garbage. Investment is needed and all the other things need fixed PDQ and the question in the first instance is whether we think the Board can deliver? I would say a substantial number of fans seriously doubt they can. That doesn’t mean people have not put money in. They need to prove they can put sufficient funds in but also fix and manage the constant shambles off the pitch which ultimately affects the product on it.
  25. As someone said earlier it depends on the overall package. If it brings Rangers closer to Liverpool through academies, scouting agreements, loan deals , sponsorship, attracting better quality player purchases, leaves a legacy linking us to EPL clubs and there is finance of £20m it might work but it’s a 3 year project (again).
