[2022] Who should be the next Rangers manager?
Devil's advocaat replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm willing to stick my neck out and say i think he's the man for the job, I think he's a great coach who will end up a great manager and potentially in a few years would be out of our league, so this is the time to go for him. Bring it on, canny wait to see us playing football like we did the 55 season. π -

@Gonzo79 I hope you've been putting a few quid on these! -

Aye, let's get them back on the stovies, black n tans and capstan full strength anaw, that'll sort em. I'm sure Beale and Culshaw (if it turns out to be the case) will get them fit, but actually fit, not rose tinted spectacle fit. -

I'm not sure you'd ever find a manager with the win percentages that we crave or expect, anywhere. And if he was in a half decent league, would we even get him?. I think any manager we appoint is always a gamble, as our situation isn't particularly common. -

I'm easy ozy with it tbh, ascender is right, there's less risk in it. Pedro and Le Guen were imaginative mind.... -

I was told yesterday by an ex employee of the club that Beale was being interviewed, was preferred candidate, and is desperate to get back up here. His family loved it here, to be honest it definitely seemed that way. Happy to reveal source, just not on here, as he's a good friend. -

Absolutely, but there's also nothing wrong with a bit of balance. When the last managerial team left we were 4 points clear and hadn't got out of 2nd gear, and had that lot on toast, every game. -

And also some of the best football we've ever played, but I digress, we as Rangers fans have a necessity to focus on the negative. -

I don't think he's shite, I think he's very good at what he does. I don't think that's what we're after, however. -
Also, the bookies odds are rarely reflective of the actual names considered.

Tbf the board have been accused of shitting it by not sacking him, and now they've shat it by sacking him. Who'd be a Rangers director, eh? π¬

I'd imagine if Gio had walked, he'd have put out a statement, but you never know.

Each to their own, he's not for me though.

That is true Gonzo, but its not the type of football I want to see, and our league is very different to the championship. The football Beale had us playing after the covid break, and the hard work we put in, was the best football I've seen us playing in my 47 years. We need this approach again, I'm not saying Beale is the man, but I don't think Dyche is. Postecoglu has been allowed similar powers at the piggery, but FWIW his side this season wouldn't have lived with our 55 team. But it's us that has allowed this to happen. It's difficult seeing us rip everything up a year after putting yet another coaching set up in place. I'm rambling now, I know.
-
Twas ever thus ascender. In the eyes of some of our fans a player is guilty until proven innocent, which has seen off many a player before they even have a chance over the years.
-
Dyche. Dear lord no.

I'd say 'good' for reasons that are obvious, but its always saddening when we lose a manager. Was always a sense of pride in the small number of them we'd had since we were founded. I may be naive in assuming we have a replacement identified/lined up.

The Rangers Brand - what does it stand for?

Gersnet Article Gio isnβt the root of the problem
Devil's advocaat replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I'd agree wholeheartedly with that, tactically some of his stuff last season in the EL against some bloody good teams was a joy. He just doesn't look like he inspires when we need something else though, when the sleeves need rolled up, or when we face 10 behind the ball. The difference in the CL isn't that we're up against hugely better sides IMO, it's that our confidence is gone, completely. And injuries, natch. -
Just to cheer you all up, I have it on good authority we're looking at bringing Barrie McKay home. ππ

Match Thread [FT] Rangers 1 (Tillman 66') - 0 Hearts
Devil's advocaat replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Good response from Kent, I also have to say I think Wright made a difference when he came on, at least showed a bit of spirit and urgency. -
Everyone seems to think we should have bought, but that belief is entirely based on the assumption that there are quality players available, within a budget, that are an improvement on the current playing staff. Tbh we've bought far too many players in at the last minute over the years, I'd rather we had some faith in our own developing players, and actually play them, than buy someone else's problem player. And while we're on that, when we get injuries, play the boy that plays that position, a lowry, mccann, devine, instead of shoe horning a sakala or a sands in there.
