He was a poor investment, agreed, but we never paid him that wage.

A gamble which never paid off. Prodan was one of the best CB’s in the world just before he got injured & we signed him. Had he got fully fit & back to his best I’ve often wondered how O’Neil’s Celtic with Larson, Sutton& Hartson would have got on against him. He would have made a big difference to us I’m sure & they’d never have done as well as they did early 2000’s
Spot on sir.

So if we don't bring in badly injured players we bring in ones to badly injure our other players.
Groan
Just as well you never saw Walters training sessions 🤣
Search for what Ferdinand said about it when he was at Man U, its priceless.

Dundee has been okay in terms of getting good value players - Novo and Kamara.
And Claudio, and Bomber. The Pole not so much eh.

Agreed Yuddie.
Wee point on your post, McLeish was bloody good value for money!.

Maybe a better question would have been who's been value for money?
Morelos, Tav and Kamara, much to the annoyance of many on here! 😆

Be good to see the costs weighted to get a true level, ie a million pound player in 2000 can't really be equated to one in 2023.
Which just makes most of the older ones even worse!.

Find this saga a bit strange to be honest, it's been a couple of months since the strong links have started and we've had good rangers sources saying he's coming in to have his medical sooner rather than later yet he keeps on playing for LAFC.
Definitely more than a whiff of the old BS about this.
Happens all the time in football, very few signings are quick affairs, tbh I'd rather we took a while to get the guys we want than jump in quickly to grab what we can get.

Every one of our summer signings so far has been over 6 foot so far, I suspect Beale felt we were being bullied by physical sides before.
Absolutely, I'd noted that myself - big, athletic technical players, at last!

Congratulations, you've slotted straight in as a Gers fan.
Guilty until proven innocent 😆

Dessers transfer reminding me of the Jelavic one few years back. Long and drawn out. Hopefully he has the same impact as the big Croat.
I'd take a big Dado too BSRT 👌🏻

Many of our goals against last season happened when we had the ball or were in "control" of a situation. The two that come to mind were the 2 at Parkhead in the game that effectively ended our league challenge. Ben Davies terrible defensive header and Jack/Souttar/MacGregor pissing about in defence.
It's still the same root cause, our use of the ball was pish, otherwise we wouldn't have got into the situation.
FWIW I'm not a Davies fan, and Greegs was done. Hopefully both of those situations won't be an issue come the start of the season.

I get what you are saying but much of goals against last season were avoidable in so many ways. During the 55 season we conceded 13 goals. Last season we conceded 34. Those stats don't lie.
They would have been avoided if we had the ball, you've kinda proved my point there buddy.

The quality of our defence will make or break our season
I get you, but I don't think it's quite as simple as that. We hardly conceded any goals in our 55 season, which wasn't down to how good our defence was per se, it was down to how we played, constantly stretching teams, possession based defence, tiring out our opposition to the point when we did give the ball away, they were less of a problem.
I hope with a full pre season, and more of *his* players, MB will work in a similar fashion.
The vermin don't have a great defence, they did something similar last season.
Where your good defence is under more scrutiny is in Europe, obvs.

It seems to be from a "journalist" who has made 17 tweets, has 21 followers and whose first tweet was that Donald Trump was going to invest £100m in the club.
Best ignored.
Hence my use of the term wild rumours buddy.

Wild rumours flying around that Stevie G is gonna swoop for Scott Wright, bonkers money 'Quoted'.
We live in hope.

You see what they tell you. For every Jota they have a Barkas, Ajeti, Duffy on high wages - don't be fooled that they always get it right because they don't.
Absolutely, they've a few Japanese players that are utter gash as well, but you don't hear about those....

Looks like a complete new team next season. They may need the whole season to get it right. Well over buster’s four decades ago a club which interests me bought the stars from their league. 0-5 at halftime in the first match, 5-5 final whistle. They won nothing that year, everything next year and most things for a good number of years after that.
Patience, dear friends, patience. Unfortunately I have very little. How about you?
Remember the first half of Advocaats first game, he turned out not bad.

No 'e' in Whisky my friend, unless you really want to get off your tits. 😉
I'd take Killie at home first game, or St Mirren, at least both of them would maybe have a go, Killie don't usually but they've made a couple of decent signings.

Yep, as much as some hate the idea of it, this is very much social media.

Agreed, but what doesn't help you win is howling derision at a new signing when his first few passes are back or sideways. And a lot of our support is very good at that.

It is expected that players get slight injuries in pre season training, they'll be working harder on fitness, and have theoretically just had a couple of weeks off. Anyone who trains for any sport will understand this.
Balogun is a bonkers signing.
