Seems the "official" attendance was 32,500. Someone saying they contacted Celtic Park direct. Thats a shocker for a league game for either Glasgow team.

  3. Imagine you're a tim in the forces and you watch your Rangers supporting colleagues at Ibrox this weekend. I just saw the reception they got at half time in today's game. SOmething they'll never forget. Now the Celtic fans in the forces know this will never happen at their shit hip. Poppies are banned. The forces get abuse year round in their pro-IRA bullshit. Must be a weird feeling right now being a tim in the forces. I dont know how you can be both?

  4. I'm in two minds about Hearts. Traditionally a team that we have the least aggro with. Almost a brotherly relationship in some circumstances.

Yet they did vote us out the SPL and certainly relationships have been more toxic largely because of Mad Vlad. I wont be sorry to see the SPL clubs go bust, but Hearts would probably have been my last choice.

If Hearts go bust and essentially that screws the rest of the SPL, does that harm our chances of becoming as "strong" as we were even 5-10 years ago? We are pretty poor right now. And we weren't exactly CL winners under Smith (part 1), DA, AM or Smith (part 2). However, if Scottish football is weaker, and it certainly would be without probably the 3rd biggest club, would that harm our long terms ambitions of re-strengthening our club and our position at the top. Even when we return to the top of Scottish football, that might not be as strong a position as it once was.

  5. I'm sure you're right Gazza, but - at the risk of a ban - C'MON THE BLACK AND WHITES!

Sorry lads, but you can't forget where you were born even if you never go near the place.

I was born in Elgin. Left at 3 months old, never been back. Home it's another 7-0 to the Gers.

  6. apparently we were, yes. yes, i think we got the btter deal there too. :) izaguirre flew to scotland to sign for rangers and before he landed he was on his way to celtic. that was a dirty one by them. riordan knocked us back before he signed for celtic.

what great lengths, fabrications and distortions? :-/

you are basing how big a club are from a one off micky mouse cup tie? :-/

The Loovens one is paper talk. There is no real hard evidence or proof we were genuinely interested and with all the great centre back signings we made in this period I find it hard to buy that one. Will chalk it up to Celtic trying to give it the "we got one over on them" crap they try and pull on nearly every signing (second only to listening to Celtic on the radio as a kid). Izaguirre one is news to me. Will take your word for it on Riordan but really don't remember that.

I'm not expecting them or us to sell out a mickey mouse cup tie. But really big teams don't see their crowds drop to 25% for any competitive game do they?

  7. viewing figures could be interpreted many ways though, i cant see rangers fans sitting through spl matches the same way non rangers fans seem so obsessed with our club that they will tune in in the hope we lose or maybe other football fans just out of interest, this footballing giant in the bottom tier.

attendance figures i agree but i think ticket prices have a part to play maybe.

yeah i meant commons, brown, riordan, loovens, mcgeough, broziek, izaguirre and maybe one or two others. are the bold bits not slight contradictions?

Were we ever honestly in for Loovens? We signed Boogie instead didn't we? Just paper speculation that one that I dunno that is even true. Izaguirre is news to me. Were we in for Riordan when he went there?

Seems like you're going to great lengths and distorting the truth or buying into fabrications elsewhere, to push Celtic's agenda.

Only 14,000 last night is a good indicator that they're not the biggest!

  8. no he doesnt. not the same way we always see alexander doing it. noticed jig completely blanked and ignored wee mckay when he came on the other day, is that captain material? nothing like looking after our young team, eh!

Sounds like an imagined slight. The kind of nonsense you only get on football forums. Never known a captain to come running over and congratulate every player for entering the field of play.

Gotta agree with BD here. McCulloch is good for this. It has been commented on this forum recently of McCulloch getting young players to get their head up after a mistake.

  9. If one of the other teams had roared out of the blocks (like QoS in Div2) then things wouldn't look quite so nice.

But the fact remains; Ally was given ample resources to win Div3 at a canter and probably the Ramsden's cup. The fact that we're under-achieving is not due to lack of funding.

Don't disagree. But that doesn't make what I said any less true.

  10. is our win rate not about 50%. anyway I've watched us and I say we ate struggling.

The point is if you are top of a league, you are not struggling in that league.

The difficulty comes when you get a bizarre scenario like ours where you have a team far bigger and better paid then anyone else. Many Rangers fans would suggest we should be winning every week (and we pretty much should).

But you cannot suggest that top of the league is struggling. It's an oxymoron. Even if we all want and demand far better from Rangers that is logically incorrect. Struggling by Rangers high standards, but not struggling in division 3.
