Spot on indeed.

Hibs fan who tried to punch Lee Wallace spared jail
StuGers replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or genuinely think that hitting a woman with a chair is a minor assault? -
There used to be a Rangers blog that focused on the real data from a March - it's a shame it stopped as it was really interesting.
-
Why not? The SNP were keen to hammer our team when something similar happened before. What is wrong with pointing out the hypocrisy of the (well predicted) lack of forthcoming action?

Looking into the judge's comments reveals a slight slip of the tongue that possibly shows his inner thoughts: "A footballer, no matter which team they play for". So a footballer, EVEN if it is for the big bad Rangers, doesn't merit violence. Funnily enough, he also attempted to assault TWO other Rangers players but those cases were thrown out as this one was waiting. Why is that not mentioned at all? -
Mervin Celik for me also. There is no way that guy was a professional footballer.

How can this even try and be explained!? Attempted assault on a football player, pitch invasion and actual assault on a man and assault on a woman with a weapon and spared jail!? What the actual f*ck is this country coming to!? -
I notice that the Dhaily Rhecord hasn't even included this story as a main one in their football section on the home page. This story must be getting buried quick style.

Lennon talks some amount of pish. From the video is is pretty clear who the agressor was. He had lost the plot (as usual).
-
Cheers. Glad it's not just me!
-
Now, do we think that Lenno will get a sufficient ban for this? After his latest let off by the "compliance" officer I doubt it. It's so strange that he seems to be the common denominator in all these things. I take it the SNP will be having an enquiry into this shame game?

Whilst I agree look at the consequences it had for Jane Hamilton - she's been nominated as "reporter of the year" at the Scottish journalism awards. Some punishment that!
-
I agree with almost all you say there but the problem for me lies in that I don't think they're laughed at by 99% of football fans. Especially when the DR, SMPs etc. seem to be happy to pick up theor stories and forward them on as truths.

I don't know anything about litigation but could someone hunting these stories and demanding damages not in a way self-finance this activity?
-
The thing I find more baffling as it goes on is that there is no counter to it. It this was a big company and there were constant lies being peddled about it and it's products that affected profits, shareholders and reputation then they would be on the phone to the lawyers. Is there a particular reason that this doesn't seem to happen with a football club?
-
The question is; who is co-ordinating it?

I notice that the board had to put out a statement on this recent boardroom reshuffle which in plain writing was just a formality of tying up historic positions. It stated that it needed to be clarified due to a number of online blogs. This made me think - is there any other club in the world which has to deal with so much "fake news"? A quick search of Celtic FC news on newsnow identifies a significant number of "Celtic blogs" that are almost dedicated to spreading misinformation about anything going on at Ibrox, from the roof being damaged, to the theft of water from local churches, to boardroom chaos, to players leaving or being unhappy, to the next financial meltdown, to fake UEFA letters... the list goes on. You then have the blogs that were "award winning" on the Rangers tax case that seemed to be based on leaked documentation from an ongoing court case. This itself is highly unusual. Especially as it was lapped up by the mainstream media who regurgitated a lot of mis-truths. Moving on to main stream media - Scotland's best selling paper printing lies about Rangers fans, papers left, right and centre slating everything about the club from its directors to its performances on the park. Stories about how much punishment should be handed out on a live court case when the "guilty" (anyone that knows about tax cases knows that there is no guilt, just liability) verdict hasn't been given. The clamour to include Rangers in the child abuse scandal when there is a well documented case sitting right in front of them. The media blackout of what is a scandalous black and white state-aid case. The question is; is this the work of a lot of deranged individuals who have either managed to get themselves a daft online blog / work their way into papers as "journalists" / "editors" or is this a more orchestrated movement of a multi-level attack to destroy the club? Is it just a coincidence that Rangers, which is a massive unionist instituation is under attack from a country which seems to be reeking of republican control in both the media and society with independence as it's ultimate goal ? Could it be said that if Rangers was damaged either reputationally or financially beyond control that it would actually have an effect on the politics stance of a large section of the population of Scotland's biggest city? It sounds crazy but the constant attack on Rangers and everything to do with it is really hard to understand just now. It is reminiscent of the "fake news" campaign that Trump utilised to achieve his final goal. Any thoughts from anyone else or am I just a paranoid wreck!

I can succinctly sum that up: What a load of pish. Why does he not mention the scenario where the HMRC lose their appeal? Are there going to be mass apologies all round? I don't expect so.

I also had the very odd experience of feeling disappointment when seeing that Scotland had scored in the last minute. Good to see our esteemed captain on the usual form. The guy is a disgrace. -
Same with Brown's dive in the OF match at Ibrox. He was already on a yellow so should have been off.
-
Especially depressing that Strachan has come out and said he is giving Celtic players special treatment and resting them. Astonishing.

Well it certainly seems to be instilled at a certain East side Glasgow team.
