  1. Spot on. I’m baffled at those statistics. It really is incredible.
  2. City Building. There was a story a few years ago that a van was stopped and it ad hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of drugs in it. Naturally, the story wasn’t really that big in the media, however, you would have thought a massive drugs bust in a council associated vehicle would have been massive news. http://www.scottishconstructionnow.com/7034/three-arrested-as-police-seize-200000-of-drugs-in-city-building-van-raid/ There have been a few shady stories related.
  3. Whilst not drum-thumping unionists, I’m sure you will find the support are majority pro-union.
  4. Do you think that this is part behind the reason of the rise of the conservatives in Scotland?
  5. It should also be noted that a recent survey of football teams supported within Scottish MPs only raised ONE Rangers supporter. This is in line with the discussion above however I am willing to say football does not = politics directly (although in today’s climate it is converging). Is it not strange that of the two biggest supported teams in Scotland (by miles) who have similar supporting numbers within this country, have such a huge difference in MPs that support them? Would hat not suggest that the system is set up to favour the success of becoming an MP to those of a certain background? Again, your argument above about who is actually interested in politics still stands but it if true, and also if not, it raises the concern that politicians are not truly representing the demographic of the country and are not fit for purpose.
  6. If that is the case then you have to query why that is, and what is the purpose? Is it the case that maybe there are equal amounts but there are certain barriers in place to stop those from certain backgrounds being given the opportunity to stand? It is a hugely strange anomaly and one that the media / politicians really need to strain their neck to ignore. For a community that is often quick to raise claims of bias against them or historic prejudice, the current day certainly paints a picture that is the polar opposite.
  7. It is unlikely that Eva Bolander would be an RC but it is no coincidence that a change in controlling party may result in a paradigm shift. It is no coincidence that there were a number of murky payoffs from GCC prior to the take over. I’m sure the shredders were going full steam ahead. That is my only positive that I think may come of SNP taking over Glasgow: them uncovering years of religious based corruption by the GCC that has pretty much been an open secret. I am dubious though as they are well versed at burying this sort of stuff, including the years of drug dealing via one of their handy “arms length” tentacles.
  8. Ok, if I take the run to 12 then, and change 15% to 30%, the results are as follows: Chance if there not being a Protestant (if you are saying there are more Catholics than quoted, I’ll have to reduce the Protestant quote from 35% to say 30% - I’m not sure about this as there is always the great chat about Catholics being the minority - chance increases to 1.4% or a 1 in 70 chance. Chance of their being 12 Catholic Lord Provosts in a row - 0.00005% or a 1 in 1.8 million chance. Do you think those odds are more credible to be a quirk in statistics?...
  9. Looking at that incredible of 13 RCs in a row. Going by Scottish census info, today, around 1/3 of Scots identify as Protestant - I am assuming that Glasgow confirms, or roughly conforms to this. So there is a 66% chance of the Provost being a non-Protestant (in reality that is lower as it is generally harder for those of a smaller religious minority to gain office. So on one occasion, you can understand that it is likely that there will be a non-Protestant as Lord Provost. But 13 in a row? The chances of that are 0.45% or under 1 in 200. Now that is the chance that it is a non-Protestant (ignoring the spurious information regarding the backgrounds of 2003-2012 - that information can’t be confirmed but it does seem true to form that they will be gracing Celtic Park’s hospitality suite. What is even more interesting is looking at the chance of 13 in a row being Catholic. On today’s information, 15% of Scots identify as Catholic and I would assume that this number was actually smaller on the past so this calculation is conservative. Again, assuming Glasgow is roughly similar demographic to Scotland, this results in a chance of 0.000000002%, or 1 in billions. So is that just a very long shot coincidence? I think it is very strange that this is never mentioned.
  10. Strangely enough, all the headlines I read today say “Rangers coach”. Was it not the case that he was with us fleetingly?
  11. Sad news. It is warming to hear that simple things like this forum give some comfort. Condolences to the family.
  12. So how many of the last 10 Lord Provosts have been Protestant?
  13. Can’t disagree with any of that.
  14. It’s obvious we need a bit of backbone. Youngsters, unless exceptional, aren’t going to give that.
  15. Welcome to 21st century Republic if Scotland. Do you think that this would be the same if it was the other way round? There is a reason that there are so many prominent Catholics in high ranking positions. There is a reason that there has been no Protestant Lord Provost in Glasgow for decades, against all odds.
  16. Man Utd youngsters aren’t the answer.
  17. Agreed. I’m praying Miller retires this season as it seems a formality that he’ll be offered another contract.

For some reason he was dropped yesterday. Very strange one. I think it is the UK based players who have let us down, not the foreigners.
  19. Kris Commons is a fat idiot. If you have an issue with that then fair enough.

I would have him in the team instead of Windass. I know not like for like replacement but I would shuffle the formation so that we didn’t have to play Windass.
  21. Some great players there but Kuyt was nothing short of awful in 95% if games I seen him play.
  22. Kris Commons is a fat nobody. That is all.
