    From the BBC Bedoya is a 24 year old midfielder whom we were linked with last summer also IIRC. He had a trial with Birmingham in January I think also. Giroud is a 24 year old striker from Montpellier. He scored 12 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances this season. If we did target him then that would suggest money is available for a striker and Hemed may not be the only target.

    I hope you're right I'd rather have a fit and cheaper Granqvist than an unfit and expensive Cuellar. I reckon a pairing of Granqvist and Bartley would be pretty solid.

    Would managerless Villa really be looking to send players on loan before securing a new manager? It could be August before Cuellar is fit having just undergone knee surgery! On the other subject of Frings (34) would people prefer the German or an unlikely return for Gennaro Ivan Gattuso (33)?

    Linked with a move for Carlos Cuellar today in The Record. Cuellar has just had knee surgery, could be out for 3 months, 29 years old now and 30 in August. 1 year remaining on his contract at Villa. Value - �£2m?

    If he can start the season the way he finished last season then maybe he is but I think he will have to fight for his place with a new arrival be it Goodwillie or Hemed or someone else.

    Villa will have to appoint a manager first. Reports suggest it will not be Mark Hughes and could be Shteve McLaren or Martin Jol.

    I'm not sure. I heard because the season starts early the window will open earlier. Bosmans can be signed now, I guess transfers can also be concluded now and registered when the window opens.

    Don't know much about Douglao myself although he looks a big uncompromising fella. I would imagine comfortable on the ball and able to pass to a team mate like most Brazilians. I'd prefer Granqvist and Bartley in all honesty.

    I don't imagine they got the �£40m up front. They had to sort out the all seater stadia problem in the close season so there wasn't time to install undersoil heating at the same time. Perhaps this summer will see them upgrade their facilities.

    I just heard that from a Celtic fan and nearly choked. I haven't read it anywhere else and can only pray it has no truth to it. Ally this would not be a welcome signing!

    I think supplemented is the wrong word I'd rather we strengthened/improved the first 11. Central defence is a priority. We need clarity over the futures of Weir and Bougherra and need replacements IMO. Bartley would be a sound piece of business and we have also been linked with Granqvist and Douglao. In midfield we could do with some genuine pace and width and some creativity. Weiss isn't coming back as far as I'm concerned so we have to look elsewhere. Vaughan would be a good signing alongside Davis but we would still lack a ball winner. A striker to play alongside Jelavic is also a priority. I think we need to move the likes of Bougherra and Beattie to supplement to transfer fund.

    Perhaps Phill Betts and Gary Withey can conduct some talks. They will know more regarding Whyte's budgets. Can't afford to stand still this summer and miss the good bosmans and appear as if we don't want to keep Davis, Whittaker etc.

    I hope Mr Whyte makes some very astute appointments in the very near future. I'd also like to see him splash out on some players too.

    I'd rather have Seb Larsson and I reckon his wages would be less than McFadden too.
