I think we might anticipate trouble if we pull hibs though that can't happen till at least the last 8. I say that because I scan their forums from time to time and this is a typical example of what spews from them right now at the prospect of facing us. Apparently there is a fantasy that we seethe at not winning the cup when in reality that's meaningless next to their behaviour after it which they now may be an idea that they can behave like that any time they like since they apparently also attacked Brondby fans who were in Edinburgh for the Euro game. and that was even before Brindby beat them. This is the response to being drawn against us and us supposedly seething. This is a mob who have fantasies that they are a great footballing power after 1 cup win in a century and also a mentality that appears to indicate a willingness to cause trouble simply because they may be playing against us. Now one thing is I believe if they were drawn to play us at Ibrox they would be absolutely humiliated which would smash one part of their fantasy to pieces and wouldn't go any way to reducing the risk of them exercising their now expected 'exuberance' If they were humiliated in Edinburgh it might be even worse.

And notice how these sides who would be rated top 6 material struggle against this lower league opposition while the obsessed grunts scream that Rangers will struggle to be top 6. That they look impressive in the league cup but that's just lower league opposition anybody else would hammer too. Really? Apparently not. NOBODY in this competition has been so thoroughly overwhelming as Rangers. NO lower league opposition has had even a sniff of a chance. ALL of them were clearly far out of their depth. Anybody think this would happen to Rangers? THAT'S a St Johnstone which comfortably finished 4th in the SPL and can't totally overwhelm a league one opponent while everyone knows exactly what would happen if they played Rangers. Any stutter from Rangers against East Stirling or were they simply swept aside?? We have been far and away the most impressive side in this competition despite being the only SPL group winner with another SPL side in our group. We ran away with the group and will be comfortably statistically best of all the group winners. This IS an impressive team we have people there is no doubting that and all you have to do right now to see it for yourself is contrast the struggles everyone but Rangers have with lower league opposition. We may not be scoring as many goals as we could so far but that will come. Goals aside we have been on a completely different level to these teams and that includes Motherwell too once we got into our stride. They want to pretend it was a close run thing because they had a few breakaway chances while in reality they too were played off the park. There are some too stupid to grasp how potent this team is going to be and others who have a little more brain and do grasp this is a powerful team in the making but just don't want to acknowledge this is really happening. The same Dundee "the best team in Scotland" couldn't beat despite the fact Dundee fielded a second string in preparation to play Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish cup when they were blown out of the water by a side nothing like as potent as the one we now have. And take a look around at all the opposition for this season. Have any of them being strengthening to anything like the degree Rangers have? Absolutely not, they tinker calling new signings strengthening when in reality it's at best just another player of a roughly equivalent quality to that already in their squad while our signings actually are a massive improvement on those they replace. I laugh too at the hibs crew with the Lennon pronouncement of a "very busy week" in the transfer market which encourages the yahoos to get all excited as if anything they sign is going to be anything like say a Barton or a Kranjcar. All he is doing is bringing in more third raters to replace the third raters leaving. Bring it on. The tweeting of the twits will be silenced in the coming months when the grunting will have nowhere to go but the fall back position of "new club" As if that makes the awful reality they fear so much go away.

That's the lowest common denominator, the dimmest most obsessed of them all and a combination of exceptional stupidity with obsessiveness thrown into the mix results in what you see. A total detachment from reality. Simple minded babble that not even the most spiteful media outlet would go in for because unlike these tweeting grunts etc they will have to face up to how ludicrous they were when the reality everyone with just a barely average IQ knows is out there begins to reveal itself. If you know any of them take note of their absurd grunting. Copy it and within a matter of weeks you will be able to throw it back in their faces while demonstrating to them how unbelievably stupid they are. -
All very peculiar isn't it, seemingly making up the rules of the competition as they go along and feeds perfectly into the hands of the usual obsessive conspiracy nuts though in this instance they might have a point. It goes without saying that neither the SPFL or the sponsors would want any of the biggest draws meeting till at least the last 8. That was already partially accomplished if they had pre decided that the 4 Euro entrants would be seeded but what about the Rangers problem? Well simply wait to see how they do in their group then when it becomes obvious they will be among the best 4 group winners run out plan A. Wonder what plan B might have looked like in that scenario.

Well for me at least if he's being serious "a sensation" would need to be something that put the Barton signing in the shade.

Little Rossiter inside just 30 minutes looked like a genuine Gattuso style ball winner. Totally fearless. Hope he doesn't get hurt. -
That and I would get another chuckle at their obsessive fantasising. When we signed Barton the cry from the dumbest of them and believe me there aren't a great deal of IQ points between the smartest of them and the dumbest was that we couldn't possibly afford his wages, "they're doing it all over again, tick tock" So something totally stunning that eclipsed even the Barton signing would get them into a frenzy. The daily record hotline would explode with the frenzy.
-
That certainly clarifies it but I think they may have just put that there very recently because I already looked at the format days ago trying to discover if there was seeding at the last 16 stage and i'm sure that part of it wasn't there.

Unfortunately I think he's going to become a target for the hammer throwers and he doesn't need pace with the type of talent he has. He appears to simply more or less stroll around putting himself in a position to receive the ball at the right time then if he decides to hold it up while others make moves at pace is excellent at shielding it while scanning the pitch terminator style looking for the right team mate getting into the right position to receive a precision pass. Classic footballing brain. -
I just heard something which indicates that there is indeed seeding but i'm still not sure that means we couldn't get them and give them the hiding they deserve. In the following video clip which I have set to start at the relevant point the interviewer says to the manager "the fact that you've won the group means you will be seeded for the next round" But I still don't get how this is supposed to work. Given that the 8 group winners are seeds how can anything else beyond that be seeded? If they seeded the 4 Euro entrants then there are 12 seeds and only 4 non seeds? That doesn't make sense. And if the 4 Euro entrants are not seeded then there's a 50/50 chance of drawing one of them. All very confusing.

While we all debate a "first 11" the manager keeps insisting there is no first 11. Perhaps this season it might be the case where the first 11 or let's call it the starting 11 will be a fluid concept being constantly modified to suit different opposition. -
Yeah there's always at least one greedy bastard. LOL But, the question is, either or not both. Choose greedy.

Niko had a good game, spraying accurate passes around and getting himself a goal. He's going to be a contender for player of the season when he gains full fitness and hits his stride. Might be just as important that he can fit into his new environment and be happy. At East Stirling I saw him standing at the side of the pitch doing some stretches and chaffing with the ball boys and seemed genuinely interested in talking to them while having a laugh at whatever they were saying to him. That type of guy can settle in and be happy. -
FF are speculating Van Persie which would appear to me to be unlikely but even if it miraculously turned out that way I would still rather have a defender of that quality. I don't think goal scoring is going to be our biggest problem given how awesome the midfield supply route is turning out to be. The midfield all by itself is likely to supply a stream of goals. If we can lock up the defence little if anything will stand in our way.

The general opinion around Rangers forums tonight is that Rossiter looks like the real deal. As far as i'm concerned aside from the fact that as usual it should have been more goals this was the best display so far and still wasn't the full first starting 11 and still not fully fit. Not much will stand in our way when the team is fully fit and integrated with a steady starting 11. I'm looking for full points from the first 4 league matches before we go to the land that time forgot. -
Could be right but I doubt seeing goals on youtube hours after the match would encourage anybody not to pay for RTV. In fact the opposite might even be the case. Wondered if it might be something to do with the cup sponsors. A far as i'm aware no team has been uploading league cup goals.
-
So if we could choose would we rather it were a sensational defender or a sensational striker? Personally I would go for a defender as I don't think goals will be a problem if the defence is locked up tight.
-
Anybody got any idea why they haven't been uploaded to the youtube channel?

We're going to get a heap of goals out of Krancjar when he gets up to full fitness from both assists and his own boot. -

I think he is quick into tackles because he seems to be very aware. Almost as if he can anticipate what's going to happen before it starts to happen and prepares for it. Great sign. -

Think every time I have seen Rossiter go into a 50/50 tackle he wins the ball. -

Don't forget we should have had a penalty and their goalkeeper should have been red carded. Even Sutton was baffled none of those things happened. -
