  1. I would be seriously disappointed if the vast majority of the blame for this embarrassment were not laid at the door of hibs. Their fans illegally entered the pitch in the thousands and if they had not intiated that then there would been ZERO Rangers fans on that pitch. In addition even if they had even stayed in their own area of the pitch the chances are good there would have been no Rangers fans on the pitch. But in their "exuberance" they apparently thought this passed as acceptable behaviour. And there are no suggestions of Rangers fans assaulting any of their players nor vandalising the ground such as this. This thing is a total farce if there is any remote suggestion that there is any equal blame to be apportioned either in terms of offences commited or in terms of what initiated the entire debacle.
  2. I think he has tried since we were in discussions with Crystal Palace guy whose name escapes me at the moment and he has been saying for weeks he is looking to strengthen in that area. The thing is if something in our range that would be an improvement isn't there or if it is there but just isn't prepared to come to us then that's that. Personally I don't want him signing anything that isn't comfortably better than that we already have just to make up some numbers. Would rather just go with what we have and hope something better comes along at the next window.
  3. Peterhead will have no illusions of winning the cup. This is the very best they could have hoped for. This is probably exactly what they and some others were hoping for before the draw. Good luck to them and i'm sure they're celebrating this windfall.
  4. I'm guessing gate money and prize money may be separate factors. I don't see any way way betfred could sponsor it then say to us by the way we're taking your gate money as part of the prize money.
  5. Well we can obviously consider that a bye. Lucky old Peterhead, they're on to a nice payday which they will already be celebrating at this very moment.
  6. A PUNTER is celebrating after scooping almost £60,000 from an incredible £1.40 correct score bet. The lucky gambler, who has not been named, stuck the modest stake on Dundee, Inverness and Ross County all to win their Betfred Cup matches 7-0 in yesterday's group stage final matches. Incredibly, the three Premiership teams did just that - at odds of 44,500-1. Bookmakers Betfred shared an image of the punter's winning betting slip on social media today. 7. From the record. The irony is that if they were drawn against us I suspect their board at least would love a money spinning Ibrox tie rather than a home tie though they wont be alone in that type of thinking.
  8. The very fact we're being touted as potential champions is staggering when you consider it's little more than a year since the Motherwell disaster. Obviously we all have high expectations as I do but I would hate to see the manager get any flack if he didn't deliver the title in his first season back. A title winning season is a prospect but top 3 is more of a priority as we need that Euro income. As he has stated repeatedly from day one this is a project that will take years to reach the end point he has in mind. In such a short space of time he has created a squad capable of challenging on a relative shoestring budget. The squad will improve from year to year as will our finances. The plan is on track and in my view well ahead of any schedule we could have envisaged pre Warburton.
  9. Let's hope that's poorly worded regarding the managers intentions for bringing someone else in. 'Cover' implies back up for what we already have when we need an improvement on that not a back up.
  10. I doubt the intention was to create any sense of let's say competitive fairness or equality. The format is a marketing exercise.
  11. Unfortunately the league they're in automatically propels them into a list of the top few dozen clubs in the world at this time. They're looking at a guaranteed minimum £100 million in TV money alone. Contrast that with the £1.8 million shared by all clubs competing in the Scottish league cup. It's another planet and we're not on that planet. Burnley will get more than that from TV for a single game. The TV income from a single game can pay a £50,000 a week player for a year with change left over to pay a good prospect a couple of thousand a week too.
  12. It's difficult to read too much into this. Aside from the fact that in a friendly no one is going to be going at it full blast risking injury with the real action just a week away the preparation for this step up in class was far from ideal. You can't acquire the necessary reaction sharpness playing against Stranraer, East Stirling and Annan for the step up in class from that to facing the likes of Andre Gray. On the other hand this might have been the ideal preparation for Hamilton who will be nothing like Andre Gray and co. Our major priority at this moment is 3 points at home from a team that will most likely be one of the relegation strugglers.
  13. I don't have any issues in removing someone with 20 convictions from the crowd. He's a liability just waiting to become an embarrassment thrown in our faces.
  14. Sellick will get Ayr, or maybe Peterhead. They don't play major opposition till the semi final stage of cups. Alloa will pull QOS and the winner of that will be the last 8 stage for sellick.
  15. It's a friendly so can't be taken as a definitive. That aside a major factor appeared to be Andre Gray but we wont be facing anything like him again this season. And if any further evidence were required about the central defence problem there it was in front of us. Even Peter Loverkrands went as far as to say they were giving away those goals. Hopefully might encourage the board to pull out all the stops in an attempt to solve this problem. It's good in a sense this happened because the board may have been lulled into a false sense of we're good to go until this happened. And, go Rossiter. He has to be forcing his way into a starting spot.
  16. Against Motherwell I felt it was largely a fast runner on the break from their own half that constituted the bulk of the Motherwell breakaway threat. Johnson if I remember correctly and he was consistently running into open space breaking down our left side. Neither Barton or Rossiter featured in that game so it remains to be seen if having them in there would negate that type of thing. Perhaps Burnley will give us some idea since I can barely recall even a shot at goal in the next three matches. The manager can play as many subs as he wants to which is also useful. I hope Barton and Rossiter start the game.
  17. So we need to practice an Italian style offside strategy to negate that long ball shit which according to reports of last nights Aberdeen match is largely all they do.
  18. It's a classic example of obsession bordering on mental disturbance which is all the more bizarre when you realise that on their own forums they claim to be entirely uninterested in Rangers in fact they claim the opposite is the case. That it's Rangers fans who are obsessed with them and all that while these ludicrous antics swamp newspaper articles and THEY post more comments on Rangers articles than Rangers fans do. And in fact THEY post more comments on RANGERS articles than ANYONE does on sellick articles. You couldn't make this shit up and be taken seriously and one of the reasons I want to see Rangers hit the top early in the league then consolidate it with a whipping of them in their sty is to watch any remaining shred of sanity crumble before our eyes. Without a shadow of a doubt we CAN take them and deep down they know that which is one of the reasons the obsession has reached new levels of late. Even the known bigot Sutton grudgingly included 4 of our players in a best 11 and that 4 were forced from him simply because he is just slightly smarter than Joe Miller and knows he would he would look like a complete idiot too if he didn't include at least some of ours who are clearly superior to anything they have in the same area. And aside from the fact that even though he is forced to admit that we have better players than they do in key areas that doesn't begin to describe the reality that though they may have a few better individuals there is no way these individuals automatically make for a better team. We have a better team than they do and we play far better football than they do. We only need to play to our potential and we can take them and anyone else in that league any day of the week and that's even before more potential signings which the manager keeps insisting would be an improvement in quality not simply an increase in numbers. From their team I would take Gordon and Griffiths. Aside from that absolutely nothing else jumps out to catch the eye.
  19. Well if that's the case I expect a bunch of theirs will be going to jail. I Have the evidence of what they did right here and if I can find it in seconds I can see no reason the law couldn't.
  20. Another one bites the dust? McInnes called this a good performance and a good result but I wouldn't. If you can't win your home games and can't keep a clean sheet in Euro home games you're up against it. It's not a good result for them it's a good result for Maribor who could now go through without even scoring at home.
  21. He keeps saying it's not about numbers it's about adding quality which I find encouraging. It suggests to me that they're not going to sign anything which isn't an improvement on anything we already have.
  22. I suppose the club can decide on just about any additional rules they want to regarding behaviour in the ground but being on the pitch for non essential purposes which includes "exuberance" is an offence in law. As for being on the pitch with a valid reason that would appear to be covered in the red print of this quote. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1991/19/section/4 So presumably if you were on the pitch due to fears for your safety that would be permissible at least legally if you can prove it which in some circumstances may be problematic.
  23. I'm not a gambler but if anyone out there wants to give me 14 million to 1 on Rangers to win the title i'm putting a hundred quid on it. So they better have 1.4 billion held back to pay me. Bookies are bandits, all they're offering is 3/1 There is indeed a credible chance of winning which is nothing akin to winning a lottery and as for top 6 for anyone who thinks even that is questionable the bookies will give you 250/1 for them to finish outside the top 6 and are odds on at 1/2 to win it with sellick out of the equation. We have heard all this before prior to playing them in the cup semi and that result was no fluke. They were played off the park and that can easily happen again with this new improved squad. I'm puzzled anyone thinks otherwise when the imps of Gibraltar can beat them on the day.
  24. Looks pretty much filled out aside from that which must be set aside.
  25. Straight off I have to say that I deem it highly unlikely we will be signing Van Persie. But though I deem it highly unlikely it certainly isn't impossible because there are at least some people in the footballing world who have already achieved such a degree of wealth that money isn't their greatest concern and especially so when entering the twilight of their career. Joey Barton may be mentioned as an example of that and even he doesn't have the degree of wealth Van Persie does. As for the club and whether they would issue denials when they actually knew there was indeed a chance of this happening yes they would do such a thing. At this stage it would be imprudent to come out and admit it for a whole variety of reasons. In summary it's unlikely but not impossible. Here's hoping because with something of that quality leading the front line the goals would flow freely.
