  1. In addition to that Villa are apparently paying him in full for the remaining year of his contract so there's a tidy little sum for a pension fund.
  2. Rangers face competition from Sunderland to bring Joleon Lescott to Ibrox That puts a different complexion on it, if it's all about money then we can't compete. Though Warburton is a persuasive man and this thing with Villa fans which has apparently gone as far as him being challenged to fights may have sickened him off the EPL. And according to this article Trabzonspor are allegedly preparing bids for both Tavernier and Halliday but goes on to say that neither are thought to be interested in going to Turkey. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-face-competition-sunderland-bring-8645898
  3. Beginning to look as if this one may come off so our forward is Joe Garner and it would appear there is a strong possibility Lescott may be our promised CB. I know little to nothing about him but am presuming he's better than anything we currently have which is what the manager always promises. An improvement in quality not just an increase in numbers. I also read somewhere that Villa have apparently agreed to pay him the money due for the final year of his contract simply to get him out given there is this absurd thing going on with the fans about tweeting a picture of a luxury car.
  4. HE is the man that Mark Warburton is set to put his faith in yet the striker that few Rangers fans know much about. He is no average Joe, though. Nine players have made their way through the blue crested gates of Murray Park this summer but it is the next two that title hopes could be hinged on. The search for a defender and a striker has been ongoing for several weeks and now Warburton is on the verge of his tenth deal as Joe Garner gets set to sign on the dotted line in Glasgow. Rangers will stump up £1.5million to bring Garner north of the border from Preston to become the final piece of the attacking jigsaw this term. And his former Deepdale strike partner Kevin Davies believes it will be money well spent by Warburton as Garner edges closer to a three-year deal with the Light Blues. “I think he will enjoy it and do really well for Rangers,” Davies told SportTimes. “I have never played up there myself so I don’t know what the standard is like but Rangers being back in the top flight is great for them and if the deal goes through then I think they will be getting a good player. “He scored nearly 50 goals in two seasons in League One. He can score any type of goal, he is good in the air, left foot, right foot, spectacular goals, tap-ins. “When he is full of confidence, that is a key thing, then he is hard to stop. He is a good all round striker, he works hard and he is a nightmare to play against. “He is a good professional, he is at a good age and he probably hasn’t hit his prime yet. If you asked any defenders, he is horrible to play against. “He has got a bit of ruthlessness, a bit of naughtiness and endeavour in him, which is what you need. But most importantly he has got the quality to go with the work rate. It will be a good signing.” Goals didn’t exactly prove hard to come by for Rangers as they clinched the Championship title and Petrofac Training Cup last season but fans were often left frustrated by Warburton’s side. Chances were created and spurned on a regular basis and the fear this term is that any profligacy in the final third will cost the Gers dear during their top flight title bid. Garner netted just six times in 44 appearances for North End last term but former Lillywhites striker Davies knows the 28-year-old has goals in him. “For his age, he has had a lot of clubs and a few big moves to Watford and Forest for transfers,” he said. “When I first went there, he had been up to Carlisle and around the lower leagues. There was probably a question mark what standard he could play at and I know he didn’t score many goals in the Championship last season, for whatever reason. “That could be the style of play, Preston play a 3-5-2 and are hard to beat so they don’t create many chances. If he plays in a team where he gets more chances then he will stick them in the back of the net. “I think if you look at his conversion rate from the chances he had, it would be interesting to see. “He can create chances out of nothing himself but if you get good service into him he will score goals. “He struggled a bit at first at Preston but when he got in the team we had a good partnership and he scored a lot of goals when he was playing with Jermaine Beckford. “He is very good all round so it will be interesting to see how he does up there playing for Rangers if all goes through.” The deal to bring Garner north of the border will represent the biggest outlay of Warburton’s time at Ibrox after he sanctioned a seven-figure swoop for the striker. It will also be a step into the unknown for the forward after a career spent on the books of seven clubs south of the border. He is now set to leave his boyhood heroes to embark on another challenge at Ibrox and will look to become a firm favourite with the Light Blue legions. Davies said: “He did well for us and a few teams were interested in him during my first year there. He finished the season really well and scored a lot of goals. “He said he would stay at Preston because he loved playing for the club with the fans there but maybe things have changed. “Whatever the reason, he has made the decision, it is down to him and his family. He is moving to a massive club. “I know the fondness he has for Preston and what it will mean to the fans to lose him because he will be a massive loss. “But you need to make decisions sometimes. I think the move works for him and I am sure he will do well for Rangers.” http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/14686168.Rangers_target_Garner_is_no_average_Joe__says_former_Preston_strike_partner_Kevin_Davies/?ref=mr&lp=2
  5. Rangers are expected to make a fresh £1m damages claim amid allegations the Mike Ashley-controlled merchandising arm has breached an agreement over the use of its trademarks. Auditors Grant Thornton have now raised questions over the future of the Rangers Retail, after the new legal row was revealed. It is understood the claim revolves around the way Rangers Retail was being operated before the club stepped in in February this year to regain legal ownership of its precious trademarks. The joint venture between Rangers and Mike Ashley's Sports Direct, confirmed by then chief executive Charles Green in August 2012, was promoted as enabling Rangers "to once again control its retail operation and give supporters the chance to buy direct from the club and in doing so, continue to invest in its future". But the Rangers board and hardcore supporters have been unhappy with what the return the club gets out of the venture which held an exclusive licence to exploit the club's name and trademarks. Rangers are also known to be unhappy with the way the joint venture was set up and its operation and has already activated a seven year notice period in terminating the deal. Details of the new damages claims has come in the new Rangers Retail annual report which states that damages of up to £1m may be payable to the club's operating company The Rangers Football Club Limited over a breach of the terms of the intellectual property and rights agreement made in January, last year. But Sports Direct, which has effective control over Rangers Retail, has said it has seen "no credible basis" to suggest the IP agreement was breached or that there was a liability for damages. Sports Direct considers that Rangers Retail should "fully defend itself against any allegations of breach of the IP agreement asserted by TRFC". Rangers has already withdrawn its intellectual property rights from Rangers Retail which had the licences to exploit club-related trademarks and logos including the club name, Ibrox and The Gers, Intellectual property experts said that the move looked destined for a courtroom battle. The new claim pre-dates the row over Puma and Sports Direct putting on sale new Rangers kit two weeks ago despite opposition from the club which and supporters. It was previously understood that new Rangers strips could not be sold because of Rangers' move to terminate the merchandising contracts. Auditors have now refused to provide a going concern audit opinion on the financial statements. They said the audit evidence over the purported breaches was "limited" as Rangers Retail has not taken legal advice on the situation due to "inherent conflicts of interest between the company, the appointed directors of TRFCL and the appointed directors of [sports Direct]". "As a result of this we have been unable to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence concerning the quantum of any provision which may be required in respect of the purported breaches and the impact on the going concern basis of preparation of these financial statements should damages be awarded and the IP License and Rights Agreement be terminated, "said the Marc Summers, a statutory senior auditor with Grant Thornton. "Because of the significance of the matter described.... we have not been able to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence to provide a basis for an audit opinion. Accordingly we do not express an opinion on the financial statements." Mr Summers, in his 'disclaimer opinion' added that the auditors had not obtained all the information and explanations that "we considered necessary" for the purpose of the audit and were "unable to determine" whether adequate accounting records have been kept. During the latest financial year to April, 2015, it was identified that there were 200 shares in Rangers Retail, not the 100 stated in 2014 and in previous records. The account report says 100 shares were allotted in error, and that steps will be taken to cancel them. The accounts show that while there was a boycott of merchandise in protest over Ashley and Sports Direct's involvement, turnover had dipped by 11.8 per cent to £4.26 million. But post-tax profits more than doubled from £877,66 in 2014 to £2.17 million as costs were cut from £4.32 million to £3.45 million. It is understood most of that money has gone to Sports Direct as Rangers Retail is buying Rangers merchandise, including replica kits, gifts, polo shirts and track suits from the Ashley-controlled firm for use in club outlets. Rangers Retail has provided over £3.8m to Sports Direct in both 2013/14 and 2014/15 through such sales. The accounts also reveal that £554,280 was put aside as of April 28, 2014 to fulfil Rangers Retail's "obligation" to buy stock at a cost higher than its value for the 2014/15 season. The obligation, is described as an "onerous contract", which is a deal where costs to fulfill its terms are higher than the financial and economic benefit that is received. The new dispute is separate from Rangers' £4 million legal claim against former Rangers directors and exeuctives Charles Green, Imran Ahmad, Brian Stockbridge and Derek Llambias. The claim alleges that they negotiated commercial deals with Sports Direct below market value. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/14686892.Rangers_to_make_new___1m_damages_claim_over_Mike_Ashley_s_Sports_Direct_trademark_breach/
  6. I think O'Halloran looks the part when he gets a run in the team and this is another level from 500K And aside from all that i'm thoroughly enjoying the frenzy the hibz grunts in particular get themselves into simply because we can actually spend a million plus on a player. Their tiny minds can't fathom how a club with over 40,000 season ticket holders can do that while they rummage around in the cast offs from the basement of the bargain basement. It has to mean we're spending money we can't afford so financial meltdown is imminent then when that doesn't happen I suppose they can always go back to reminiscing about a once in a century cup win and a 20 second European campaign.
  7. Hope he is back very soon because we really need to consolidate our position right now and it's going to be interesting to see how he and Garner go together. Since Garner wasn't even on the PNE bench tonight an educated guess would be that the paperwork will be completed soon and he may even be available for Saturday though I don't know if the manger would throw him straight in.
  8. I would guess that there are a good many DU fans who have regularly expressed a fuck u Thompson sentiment. In fact probably considerably more than any hailing from Ibrox.
  9. They can't come back and win 3-2 because they're now 3-0 down.
  10. The thing is what the fuck qualifies as excessive? Who the fuck knows. Maybe there should be a dedicated fuck thread where people can fuck as much as they like.
  11. Are currently 2-0 down at halftime away to Brighton after a defeat and a draw in their opening two matches. Go Tubbs. Sorry Stubbs.
  12. Far from questioning his judgement i'm actually excited that a man like him has decided to make what is a very large outlay for us at this time on this player. Given the mangers past record for managing money you have to think there is a good chance that Joe Garner may be a revelation at Ibrox. It would make him look very bad indeed in the current financial situation if Garner was anything less than exhilarating.
  13. Good PR if we don't follow suit in the home game. Makes us look good makes them look even worse than this gouging currently does.
  14. My post didn't even mention that and it not only didn't mention it the post actually quoted what it was addressing so i'm baffled as to what you're getting at. THIS is what it was addressing which is plainly in view. The clowns setting off smoke bombs in the stadium.
  15. So I can see the PNE lineup for tonights match on the BBC website and contrary to rumours about Garner playing tonight he isn't even on the bench far less in the team. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37017829
  16. The fans need to start weeding those morons out. The chances are that out of tens of thousands there may be no more than a couple to a handful of such retards in there yet that's what gets us acres of bad publicity about it. If they learn that the fans around them will turn on them for tarnishing the good name of the club that will knock it on the head. If you see such a nitwit get a cop or a steward and point them out.
  17. I find it amusing. And a brand new team at that? They expose themselves as total idiots while not even knowing they're doing it.
  18. You have to laugh. A fuck u is vile? The streets are littered with that on a daily basis. But as has been mentioned is mockery of a disaster which killed 66 innocent people including kids on the same level as a fuck u? Apparently some appear to think so. Fuck them.
  19. Maybe it will come right given a bit more time. This is a comment from McParland on it last November. Frank McParland: Liverpool have 30 scouts around the world but Rangers have one .. ME http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/frank-mcparland-liverpool-30-scouts-6807051
  20. I don't think we have the scouting network to do that. McParland and Warburton know English football so that's what we get.
  21. I have a memory of Amoruso sometime after joining Rangers expressing astonishment in an interview about what some of his Scottish team mates in particular were eating. The big man was on a pasta and vegetable diet while the lies of Ally McCoist etc liked a fish supper and bottle of irn bru to wash it down diet.
  22. JFK-1

    Josh Windass

Last I heard the manager said Windass was maybe a couple of days away and he also said that Crooks was now training but wouldn't be in the team till he had at least a couple of games with the under 20's under his belt.
  23. The midfield looks solid enough and the addition of Garner to the front line would appear to give us extra firepower and we have to suspect that the manager is indeed still casting around for at least one centre back of a better quality than anything we already have. Yes two would be better but even one would give the team a more formidable look that should be good enough to get us the Euro spot we badly need for next season. In fact the country badly needs it. The Scottish entrants this year were an embarrassment.
  24. I think (hope) he could be a revelation in our team. Do we think McParland, Warburton, and Weir are total idiots who just chuck £1.5 million around freely with little idea of how this will turn out? Or do we think they're top notch football men who know exactly what they're doing when they shell out that sort of money? I guess the latter.
  25. The Preston fans seem to think that all you need to do is feed him and he will put the ball in the net on a regular basis with both feet and head. Apparently last season they played a park the bus startegy while he was stuck up front alone with little coming to him but long balls out of their defence while he had to run with his back to the ball at a full defence. That doesn't work for a player like him apparently. He's a McCoist style poacher who needs to be supported and fed by midfielders and wingers and that wasn't happening for him at PNE last season. Since with us he will have massive support coming from all directions I can envisage him scoring a barrowload. Apparently also a bit like Barton in that he likes to noise up the opposition and rub their faces in it when he scores. That's also fine by me.
