  1. Maybe i'm simply not as smart as these journos but i'm not grasping the 'difference" here. What makes it different is that Griffiths was booked at the time? Why does Walker get a two game suspension for the same offence and he only gets a yellow card? It's Walkers fault he wasn't booked at the time for doing exactly the same thing Griffiths did and that makes it a more severe offence meriting a 2 game suspension instead of just the yellow card Griffiths gets??? Really??? I'm not getting it.
  2. Since you would imagine Motherwell will view themselves as top 6 it might suggest that we're going to face this tactic almost all the time at Ibrox perhaps even against the sheep who would like to see themselves as a competitor to us. Maybe we can be at least a little happy with the fact that even though it's agreed we didn't play well on Saturday we still created a heap of chances in fact a total of 18 shots at goal which has to be impressive for a team not playing well? How many will we be getting when playing well? Obviously the problem with that is we're converting so relatively few of them and hopefully the introduction of Garner then the return of Waghorn will dramatically increase that conversion rate. If we can start putting them away then we can seriously take on anybody because despite all our complaints about defensive frailties the main competition has similar issues. They have shipped 2 goals in quick succession in each of their last two matches after taking a 3 goal lead in each of those matches and that against teams creating nothing like the number of chances we do.
  3. Maybe you're Leicester, surprise Champion to mid table respectability.
  4. What a difference a couple of weeks make. A couple of weeks ago Jamie Walker of Hearts ended up being suspended for two games and labeled a cheat by broonaldo. Now Griffiths does exactly the same thing Walker did and there appears to be no outrage from their camp. Griffiths is merely a professional "trying to gain an advantage" From the record. Leigh Griffiths was booked for diving against St Johnstone but did he cheat? CRAIG SWAN: Cheat is a strong word. Griffiths was trying to gain an advantage. If you want to call that cheating, then it’s cheating. The difference between that incident and the Jamie Walker one is that the Celtic player was caught and punished with a booking. GORDON PARKS: It’s a striker’s instinct to anticipate a challenge, so every time a player takes a tumble inside the box shouldn’t bring an outcry with the word “cheat” too easily branded about. He was looking for an advantage but, like it or not, that’s his job. MICHAEL GANNON: Griffiths was doing what every player in the world would do in the same situation. He was looking for a penalty. He saw a leg hanging out and went for it. Cheating might be a bit strong – as it was for Jamie Walker – but it was cynical and a bit daft as he could have been banned for the Rangers game. EUAN McLEAN: It was only two weeks ago his captain branded Walker a cheat after a similar incident. Both anticipated contact and instinct took them down but Scott Brown’s words were always going to get thrown back the moment something like this happened. Can’t have it both ways. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/monday-jury-celtic-ease-champions-8679330
  5. Whom I will refer to as such from now on when I never have before since for the first time I just took a look at a sheep forum and was surprised to find that they have a thread they call the "Sevco Thread" in which they apparently obsess over Rangers non stop and another thing that I didn't expect is they are referring to Rangers fans as "huns" I was frankly surprised to find such low brow obsession outside the usual suspects but after just a brief glance they seem to obsess on us daily with the latest obsession being about the collapse of the Lescott deal which is obviously Rangers fault and not in a nice way and Harry Forrester who should have been red carded last week and then this week scored a goal to cheat Motherwell when he should have been suspended. Their non stop obsessiveness is of such a degree that one of them who was entirely ignored posted this just yesterday. Indeed, apparently at least one gets how bizarre it is. Baaa
  6. He played for Grasshoppers last season so unlikely anyone will have seen him but at 31 if he was ever a good player I would suspect he still pretty much is is. It's not as if CB requires great athleticism. As for complaints about his age apparently Manchester United and Arsenal are both interested in Southampton CB Jose Fonte who is a year older at 32. Is he better than that we already have? I presume he is since the manager is showing such an interest and he isn't going to be facing world class opposition in the SPL.
  7. I expect to be minimum top 3 the entire season. More than expect, I demand it. LOL Though in saying that if it weren't the case i'm not going to be blaming the manager for that. I would be disappointed but know that better days will come.
  8. The thing is I think we have to confident that if the manager already could have acquired a CB of the quality we want then that CB would already be in place. The fact he isn't simply boils down to the reality that the quality we want for what we can pay is a very shallow pool. I think we have to trust that they have been working very hard on this but if he can't get anything comfortably better than that we already have it's pointless splashing our cash on lesser quality just to make up a number. Better just to wait till another window when something better might become available and we might have more money to spend.
  9. I think Aberdeen currently have the best defensive record with just 1 conceded but only 2 scored in 3 matches. But in saying that i'm not disagreeing with your overall presumption that after 3 matches undefeated and sitting top of the league we're still far from the finished article but at this stage of a work in progress we have to be at least somewhat content with the progress in just 14 months. Yes we want to win the league but the major priority is top 3 and so far while still in the process of gelling and strengthening still taking place we look well capable of that major priority. We are still strengthening while the majority of the competition will be no better than they are right now. How many in that league would be exhilarated at the prospect of a new £1.5 million striker about to be introduced into the mix with possibly a vastly experienced CB on the cards too and all while they were sitting top of the table? Again, it's far from the finished article but we have infinitely more to be looking forward to with enthusiasm than the others in that league do.
  10. Aside from defensive frailties something that concerns me about our visit across the city is that any new recruits such as Garner and Senderos have little time to be bedded in before it plus the manager also recently said that he thought Waghorn would be fit for it but is Waghorn going to be put into it less than match fit like in the cup final? On a positive note they too appear to have defensive frailties after shipping two in each if their last two matches which we can take advantage of if we just start converting the chances.
  11. Well that's the big question isn't it. Are they so stupid they fail to grasp this isn't some cool attention begging thing to do in a nation at war which Israel effectively is. Hamas has declared war on them and has pledged never to stop until not just every last Israeli is dead but every last Jew anywhere in the world. That's heavy shit these grunts probably aren't even aware of. I mean if they actually are aware have they even thought about that? What are the Israelis supposed to do? Commit mass suicide to give them what they want? Because that's all that will stop it then they would simply move on to Jews globally and incidentally once they were wiped out these simple minded clowns would be next. They have a saying in that part of the world, 'First the Saturday people then the Sunday people' Do they have the capacity to comprehend what that means? The total idiots are supporting jihadists who don't give the proverbial flying about any Paletinians.
  12. It's a funny thing about football that different people seem to see entirely different things. I didn't see most of the game yesterday but regarding Barton this is a comment on a Motherwell forum post match.
  13. Anybody think they're so incredibly stupid they don't grasp this is an extremely volatile potentially life and death situation? Israeli security forces know it and they will be nothing like the plod in Glasgow and neither will Israelis who have suffered rocket attacks and much more.
  14. Some staggering statistics from Burnley's 2-0 win over Liverpool. Possession: Burnley 19% - Liverpool 81% Shots: Burnley 3 - Liverpool 26 Shots on target: Burnley 2 - Liverpool 5 Corners: Burnley 1 - Liverpool 12
  15. Suppose it could be the case that commuting to Birmingham from Manchester was feasible but Manchester to Glasgow is not so he would have to uproot if he wanted to be home with his family most of the time.
  16. Glasgow is comfortably more than twice the distance from Manchester Birmingham is. Can drive from Manchester to Birmingham in around an hour and 15 minutes or so while Manchester to Glasgow would be about three and a half hours.
  17. A shade difficult to say. Gilks rarely gets a chance to play and when he did play I can barely recall him having to make a save of any note. I suppose as it stands Wes would have to be having a nightmare period or be injured before Gilks may get a chance.
  18. I have in the past had certain reservations about paying appearance fee bonuses but perhaps when there is indeed a credible replacement sitting on the bench it might indeed motivate a player all the more to strive to be at his very best at all times. And and on a more humorous note thinking of it brings to mind an incident I recall from when Walter Smith was manager in his first spell and both McCoist and Durrant were team regulars. I can't remember who they were playing but I think it was at home and McCoist had started the game on the bench while Durrant was in the starting 11. Sometime fairly late on in the second half Walter decided he was going to make a change and bring McCoist on so Ally is charging up and down the sideline warming up and is then standing waiting to come on but hasn't been seen yet by the ref when suddenly his good buddy Durrant goes down then soon after motions that he wants to come off. That resulted in Smith telling McCoist to get his arse back on the bench because this changed things and now a replacement for Durrant would have to go on instead. McCoist didn't take too kindly to that and was actually roaring at the departing Durrant that "you owe me 5 grand you useless b*****d
  19. Saw a number of gilt edged chances in that we might hope Garner would put away more often than not.
  20. Not premier league but well done Joe Garners old club Preston who after losing their first 3 league matches and sitting with zero points had a fine win away to QPR who are more than likely play off contenders.
  21. I fully agree that it wasn't the convincing performance we would have desired but at the same time you highlight some points which though they may be viewed as negatives could also have a positive spin in the weeks and months ahead. Yet still took the 3 points so if we presume that we will get better hopefully with a new CB plus a new striker in Garner and a returning Waghorn and also the return to fitness of Windass and Crooks the fact we can win when not playing well with all these factors still to come into play has to be encouraging. That's historically been seen as a mark of title contenders as is scoring late winners.
  22. Burnley 2 - Liverpool 0 Put's a somewhat different shade on our own result against them does it not? Maybe they wont be the cannon fodder everybody thought they may be.
  23. According to the BBC we had 18 shots but only 3 on target while Motherwell had half as many shots with 9 but also had 3 on target. Hopefully the introduction of Garner and the return of Waghorn will significantly increase the conversion rate because we should be winning games like this with room to spare. The PNE fans are of the opinion that Garner only needs the service and he will put them away at a prolific rate with both head and feet.
  24. What a relief. Can't be dropping another 2 points at this stage.
