  1. I calculated that so far the club has earned a guaranteed £5 million in prize money from the qualifying rounds and groups plus qualification for the last 32. Plus whatever the gate money from 7 home ties amounts to with another home tie still to come. Think we may be looking at around £12 million or so.
  2. Wondering if it's the first time anyone has reached the knockout phase from QR1.
  3. Wondering if Gerrard might have a preference for Man Utd. Can't beat a battle of Britain and i'm sure he would love to do a job on them. Easiest option for us to watch beforehand as well.
  4. Very possibly. Probably them throwing objects at Barisic too.
  5. Morelos equal top scorer in the groups with 5 goals. Sharing top spot with Munir of Sevilla and Bruno Fernandes of Sporting CP. Barisic equal second on assists with 3. Shares that second spot with 10 others.
  6. It was a difficult last half hour or so to watch but we're through. And keep in mind that YB dropped down from the CL play off round where they were only eliminated on away goals.
  7. Potential opponents in the last 32 Winners From Europa League groups Sevilla Malmo Basel LASK Arsenal Espanyol KAA Gent Istanbul Basaksehir Sporting Braga Man Utd Dropping Down From Champions League Ajax Red Bull Salzburg Inter Milan Benfica
  8. Playing well against a very good side who are topping the Swiss league. And I still don't think Rangers have reached peak potential yet this season but are still building towards it.
  9. Amusing how anyone killed by security forces has been "murdered'. Presumably unlike the deaths resulting from republican bullets and bombs which must all have been entirely accidental.
  10. Typical of Rangers to be in the tightest of all the groups? The only group from which all 4 teams could still qualify. That last minute goal away at YB still haunts me.
  11. Used to see him around Hamilton all the time, an approachable guy. Only once saw him in a pub where he was drinking a pint of, wait for it, orange and lemonade. Don't know if he was an actual teetotaler. Davie's career was winding up just as the big money contracts started coming into the game so he missed out on that. There's a bronze statue of him in Hamilton Palace sports grounds. Plaque: DAVID COOPER 1956-1995. THIS STATUE WAS ERECTED BY SOUTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL AS A TRIBUTE TO FOOTBALL LEGEND DAVID COOPER. 1974 - 1977 Clydebank FC. 1977 - 1989 Glasgow Rangers FC. 1989 - 1993 Motherwell FC. 22 full international caps. 3 Scottish League Championship Medals. 4 Scottish Cup Winner Medals. 7 Scottish League Cup Winner Medals. Artist: Kenny Mackay - Scott Associates. The statue was unveiled on 18th March 1999 by Councillor Tom McCabe Leader of South Lanarkshire Council and Alistair McCoist footballer and friend on March 18th 1999.
  12. Appears to be a fragile boy with suspect joints. Not something that will resolve itself.
  13. So what are they doing to 'tackle' the discrimination of their 'junior member'? Aside from putting in place safeguards to make sure he can't 'accidentally' post his discrimination on their account again.
  14. I suspect the FF comment is a rational and accurate assessment of what's gone down here. This 'junior member' can't possibly have typed what he typed 'by accident'. So the obvious conclusion is that he 'accidentally' shared it on the wrong account. Which clearly exposes what's running this thing.
  15. They're tackling discrimination by being bias towards one offended camps views. It's an 'I'm offended' society though to be fair it's not limited to Scotland it's international. And I have a feeling this began to spiral out of control when the 'offended' Muslims complained about being offended by fair and rational criticism. I'm in the Stephen Fry and Christopher Hitchens camp.
  16. In a sense it doesn't bother me but in terms of an even playing field it does. If ****** is a sectarian term and can lead to charges then since everybody knows the intent behind hun is no different it has to be treated in the same manner.
  17. Despite the result I feel the manner in which they were totally dominated is significant progress and I would say more of a psychological boost for us than them. They know they lucked it rather than won it and that's going to stick in their heads. I can't recall them being so thoroughly bossed since the time of Souness and into the pre McCann era.
  18. I'm taking positives from it. There has been talking of them playing badly on the day but I don't think they did, they have been in good enough form prior to this game. They simply looked bad because Rangers were simply too good for them. That's going to remain in their heads for the future. We didn't take the cup on the day but I don't put that down to mental deficiencies or small margins. It was just one of those days where absolutely nothing went our way. The ball didn't go our way, they had a goalie playing the game of his life, (the goalie broke my heart comes to mind) and nor did the refereeing decisions go our way. Such a litany of bad luck can't be expected to occur repeatedly. Aside from being more clinical in taking chances and getting this penalty taking thing sorted out I really don't see much that needs to be changed following this disappointment. Ironically despite winning they would appear to have more to be concerned about than we do.
  19. While that's mostly accurate it ends on a peculiar note. On the one hand he points out that they were played off the park and lucky to win this cup then that somehow translates to champions again? He expects that kind of luck to continue and take them all the way to the title?
