Who Ate All the Pies.....Rangers v Kilmarnock Preview

It was a penalty. One more before halftime could kill this off and it's a good display against a team who just beat Hearts comfortably. Also sheep beaten and Hearts 1-0 down while St Johnstone are 1-1 -

Tidy finish, give us another before halftime. -
Though I would agree I don't think there is a great deal of difference between the top teams in the Championship and the bottom half of the SPL with hindsight I don't think our results against SPL opposition last season were so clear cut. First SPL opponent was St Johnstone where we lost 3-1 then Kilmarnock over two matches which returned a draw and a win then a win over Dundee and if you look at the SC semi over just the 90 minutes that was a draw. So from 5 matches you could say we had one defeat with two draws and two wins which isn't a great deal different from this seasons statistics if you double it to 10 matches with the same stats which would be two defeats 4 draws and 4 wins. That would return 16 points from 10 games which by coincidence is exactly what we have right now.

Anybody get the feeling that St Johnstone might actually be better than either Hearts or the sheep? They have already beaten Hearts in the league and drew 0-0 with the sheep. The sheep were truly dire against us and if we weren't misfiring so badly up front could well have been demolished. No more need be said about the foul that never was.

Kieran Tierney out for two months with ankle ligament damage

Apparently Monchengladbach didn't rate him so highly and reportedly identified him as the weak link to be exploited. -
Dave King: We'll back Mark Warburton in January window
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I have always had faith that King will deliver to the best of his capabilities considering financial constraints. Aside from that I still feel even the current squad is easily capable of coasting to a minimum second place finish in the league. They have a tendency to totally dominate for a half but stutter to finish it off in the final third. If we can just solve these problems and dominate for the entire match rather than just a half and start putting away the barrow load of chances we're already on our way even before January strengthening. Despite everything we're still only 3 points away from second spot and in this league can easily coast away from the chasing pack if we just iron out these problems. Every game I keep expecting it to all start clicking since the signs have been there that they can totally dominate and kill off matches with goals. Hopefully Kilmarnock will be crushed in a scintillating display. -
Apparently Man City fans have smashed up toilets at Old Trafford and the record in reporting it just had to add. And they felt they also had to put photos of that into a report of toilet smashing in Manchester.

As things stand with the current on field problems and Karnjcar a possible long term casualty I would like this to be settled with him coming back. You would have to guess that surely after everything that has happened he would be even more eager to prove himself. On the other hand if he has been abusive to the manager that's beyond the pale but we don't know that's the case.
-
I think if it had come to him a shade higher he would have put it away with the header. Also think he just didn't realise he had time to take a touch.

I have felt for sometime that at this stage in his career Miller might be better deployed as a second half substitute. Coming on at a time when opposition legs are somewhat tiring while he is fresh and which could put him on a more level playing field so to speak with guys considerably younger than he is. -
Given he isn't very tall it's astonishing how many headed goals he gets. I think he needs to give up the diving because his reputation precedes him on that score and it's not going to get us anything. It could even work against him. He might get stonewall fouls/penalties turned down simply because of his diving reputation.

The more I look at this the more annoyed I become with Hodson. What in the world was he thinking of just standing there pussy footing around inside the box. I hope suitably embarrassed today because that was pathetic.
-
Agreed, we were all over them and it should have been finished as a contest at halftime. And as you say surely the goals have to start coming. And I would say St Johnstone are one of the better teams in that league. They looked at least as good as the sheep.
-
I think fitness problems for a number of them take Windass as an example can come down to never getting a sufficient injury free period.
-
The current situation is what it is and it wont be changed by any of the sack the manager stuff. To do what? Bring in some unknown and who probably would be an actual unknown to come in take over a squad almost entirely crafted by Mark Warburton and Davie Weir plus trained by them to play in a specific manner? Then try to get these guys doing what? Playing in some other unspecified manner then suddenly we will be top of the league? As stated we simply are where we are and it's going to take time and some circumstance changes to put us someplace else. Changing the manager is an absolute non starter and would be like pulling down a house to repair a roof. The manager is working on a long term project and the last thing we need is someone else coming in hitting the reset button and starting another project from scratch.
-
I empathise with that but if we were to end this season with 60 points from a possible 114 and sitting minimum second I would take that. It's a season of adjustment.
-
Same again. Not scoring when totally dominant. Positive factor we still gained a point on both the sheep and Hearts.
-
Kilmarnock 2 Hearts 0. We need this win.

I feel part of the attraction was his wild nature. Anyone coming up against him is going to know they have been in a game as they say because he really mixes it.
