  1. The players should take a lot of confidence from today and kick on. As I said in another thread, play with the same desire as shown by most today for the rest of the season and we can catch the sheep. They'll drop points along the way too.
  2. Aye fair point. Talk about sour grapes from Brenda!
  3. Good. Let him greet over a penalty. They were meant to be winning 5-0 by then according to most in the press. If all they're moaning about is a penalty claim then we've done something right today.
  4. Well deserved point. Coming up to half time I thought our heads were down and they would score again but I was proven wrong thankfully. Yes, they enjoyed a lot of possession but clear cut chances were few and far between for them. Whereas we had the 2 waggy chances, the goal and several wasted free kicks from dangerous areas. Good springbox now for the run in. Most pleasing thing was the fight shown by the players. Keep that up and we can catch 2nd place.
  5. The board? Good interview. Not a lot that we didn't already know but with the rumours and constant negative news about Rangers doing the rounds it's always good to hear the club say we are not in financial trouble.
  6. Just to add to the speculation circus... Al-Gharafa have published the following statement: ‘Pedro Caixinha denied the existence of negotiations with him to take over the responsibility of training the team Glasgow Rangers, stressing that he has a contract with Al-Gharafa and there’s no truth at all to it.’ http://sportwitness.co.uk/no-truth-caixinha-rangers-talks-rubbished-qatari-club-manager-denies-talks/ Of course this could just be the usual football club/agent smoke and mirrors trick, covering over what is actually going on.
  7. Totally forgot about this. Good point about it not making the highlights reel!
  8. Totally agree re Kiernan. He made a rash challenge in an area of the pitch that wouldn't see them pose a threat to us. Poor decision making on his part. Looking at the replay he did take the boy down with studs up, before making contact with the ball. That's giving the ref a decision to make and if it's someone like Clancy, there's only one way that's going to go. Also agree that McKay had a good game but I thought Holt was pretty poor. He lost the ball needlessly in midfield leading to their first (albeit it could have been snuffed out afterwards). Also didn't think he posed much threat in forward areas - generally opting for a side pass when a shot could've been had... However, a well deserved win and hopefully one the players take confidence from! PS. GIRFUY to the fans who left after St Johnstone's second goal (no one on here I'm sure )
  9. Deputy sport editor of the express. Question @Bruce_Archer89 So you are saying it will be 100% one of those 4 names mate? Answer @Alfie_WATP not necessarily but those names have been discussed. Sure the new DoF will have a say So the bold headline roughly translates as 'I don't know but here's my guess...'.
  10. I don't think Murty is to blame as some are suggesting. I must admit, when I saw the lineup yesterday I was pleasantly surprised - it looked like a 4-4-2 with Miller and Garner up top so I was pleased he had the guts to try something different. What materialised was in large part down to the players throwing in the towel OR just not being very good footballers. I was somewhat irked when the camera focused on our bench during the second half and you see O'halleron and Forrester sharing a wee joke, looking relaxed and unconcerned that we were getting beat. That kind of summed up the attitude of a majority of our team for me. There just seems to be a complete lack of concern for our current position and form. Also, is it just me or is the relationship between players and fans just gone now? Represented no better than the attitude of Halliday these days. The days of badge kissing and fist pumping to the crowd appear to be long gone. After any whistle now it's head down and get down the tunnel. For me the players just aren't responding to the fans concerns anymore, if anything they are scared of the (albeit often OTT) fans reactions but what other way do we have to convey our concerns? We desperately need an interim manager who can focus our players again for the run in - McLeish being an ideal short-term candidate for me.
  11. If fans don't provide the funds/income by attending matches then there won't be a club to support full stop.
  12. I was wondering about this too. We get the loans we do specifically because of MW's relationships with clubs down South. Toral said himself that the manager is a big reason for his decision to come here.
  13. I've just got in from a night out. Spent the last half hour reading this thread to catch up (after a couple of texts about tonights events). I'm really disappointed that Warburton and Weir resigned. Totally goes against everything Warburton said about understanding the demands here and enjoying that pressure. That's the supposed mantra he drummed into his signings. What kind of message does him f*cking off send to the boys he has signed? On the other hand, none of us have been happy with performances of late so perhaps it's not the worst news. Some of the comments in this thread make you want to hang yourself. In my opinion this announcement will make for a vocal and defiant (maybe positive?) atmosphere on Sunday. I for one am looking forward to it. No one is bigger than the club. If they want to leave then we thank then for their efforts last season but frankly if you're not up for the fight then you are not a Ranger.
  14. 3-1 gers FGS: McKay
  15. Unless I've missed it, I've heard nothing mentioned about him from the club since well before Christmas when he was "7 to 10 days away" - for about 4 weeks on the trot.
  16. You've really got to wonder what these analysis sessions involve don't you? Several players comment on how into the analysis of games MW is but what's the point when he/the players learn nothing from it. We're making the exact same mistakes that were made even a year ago in the Championship. i.e. slow play out from the back doesn't work against a team playing a high line; how to deal with crossed balls 101... What do they even look at in these analysis sessions if these things aren't being improved on??
  17. I honestly cannot remember a more pathetic second half performance in 22 years of watching Rangers. I didn't see one player screaming at his team mates, showing leadership or fighting for the jersey. It was a total capitulation. If Crooks wasn't good enough to replace Halliday in this team he must be a terrible footballer because Halliday has been a liability all season. He rode on the coat tails of being the boy from ibrox early in the season but surely he won't start on Saturday after that horror show? Also thought Hodson was a stick on for a starting spot given Taverniers previous shambolic display at tynecastle but MW simply doesn't learn from his mistakes. I'm not sure he's got it in him to fix the many weaknesses his squad has.
  18. 2-1 Gers Waghorn
  19. I've been listening to this regularly for years. Good way to pass the morning walk to work. From David Edgar's time in the RST he has some good insight into how the club was run towards the end of the Murray era. They also generally have some good discussion about matches and their views on the current players... Unlike the official Rangers podcast which, aside from the odd player interview, is dire.
  20. I've been calling on Forrester to be given a game for weeks. Particularly on Saturday when we were clearly calling out for a midfielder that would run at their defence. When Warburton opted to bring on Windass ahead of him I couldn't believe it - I then had to eat my words as Windass actually did quite well but I just think Forrester gives that extra bit of 'dig' that we severely lack at times. I can only assume he doesn't deliver the goods in training. Less time taking selfies and more time on the training pitch would be a good start!
  21. The guy has no class whatsoever. He showed that by refusing to give rangers the ball back in a drop ball (I think it was when Hill went down injured). Can you imagine Wallace or Miller behaving like that? Of course not!
  22. Outstanding spelling and grammar. I must admit, it was a tad embarrassing when the club wrote to us reminding us about personal hygiene...
  23. I don't think there's an 'obsession'. What has happened is, he has had an inconsistent start to his Rangers career. The media hounded the guy, and equally fans started growing a bit impatient with him. Warburton backed him up in a press conference, and the fans have rallied behind him. In my opinion, this has resulted in 2 or 3 solid performances by him now... The bit of fun with the song has went viral - not through 'obsession' with Garner - it's a bit of fun.
  24. Would agree with Hill coming back in, Coop. Wilson and Kiernan have looked ok in the past couple of games but Hill brings a bit more stability to the back line. And if nothing else, he needs to play games to stay match sharp. Not so sure about dropping Garner. I understand your rationale but it would severely diminish the chances of 50k bears belting out 'Glad All Over'
  25. What was the Joe Garner chant tonight? Couldn't quite make it out. Also, fkn yass!!
