That could be a nasty injury! done that a few times, the ball catches your toes & twists your knee. Hope he is ok!.

I don't know the rules! however as far as I am aware there is no reason to stop play if the player and ref collides, if the ref stops the ball then that is different. Every player blocks another player when they let it run out for a goal kick, at corners, for instance!. Much the same as when the wee whining Hearts manager was complaining about our players blocking theirs! it is not fouling if done properly!.
