? Rangers have surely been handed a big boost in their pursuit of Watford striker Andre Gray after it was reported that chairman Dave King is ready to greenlight a marquee signing in the summer. According to reliable news website Football Insider, King is ready to free up some funds so that manager Steven Gerrard can make a “top-quality and expensive addition” to his squad. It is understood that Gerrard would also be able to offer out “Premier League-style” wages to a potential major signing. Gray, 27, is someone who has been linked with a summer move to Rangers with the Evening Times reporting in April that the Gers are plotting a swoop to sign the centre-forward on loan as they aim to find someone new to spearhead their bid to win the 2019/20 Scottish Premiership title. The former Luton and Burnley striker is no doubt someone who would flourish in Scotland’s top-flight after scoring nine goals in 34 appearances across all competitions for FA Cup runners-up Watford this season. Gray found the back of the net against the likes of Manchester United, Everton, Leicester and Wolves, so there is no doubt that he could fire on all cylinders against teams such as Hamilton, St Johnstone, Hearts, Kilmarnock and – maybe – Celtic. One issue at the time of that Evening Times report was that it was hard to see Rangers being able to afford Gray’s wages. Statistics website Spotrac reports that the Premier League striker earns £70,000-a-week on a deal he signed when he joined Watford for £18million two years ago. Rangers would definitely struggle to come anywhere near to matching those wages, but Football Insider’s report about King now means that covering at least a fraction of his salary could be something that is on the cards in the summer. It is unlikely that the Light Blues would have to pay 100 per cent of Gray’s wages, but at least a good chunk of them would no doubt make it easier to strike a loan deal with Watford and sign the Englishman as a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos. Rangers could actually go and beat Celtic to domestic honours if they sign a Premier League-level striker like Gray and being able to afford him is surely half of the battle being won. https://thisisfutbol.com/2019/05/blogs/rangers-should-have-every-chance-to-sign-andre-gray/ -

Graham Dorrans and wife pictured at Glasgow Airport for first time after being knocked out in Ibiza attack The Gers midfielder, 32, had been holidaying in Spain with teammate Ryan Jack along with their wives when he was attacked. RANGERS ace Graham Dorrans has been pictured back home in Glasgow for the first time after he was viciously knocked out while on holiday in Ibiza. The Gers midfielder had been holidaying in Spain with teammate Ryan Jack along with their wives. But after the violent incident Dorrans and partner Yvonne hopped on the first plane home after he was treated by medics. Snapped with his hood up, the 32-year-old strolled off the aircraft quietly. Sources claimed he had been acting as 'peacemaker' during a confrontation between the WAGs and another Scot. An insider told the Scottish Sun Online: "There was an argument involving the two women and some bloke from Dundee. "Graham basically went over to act as peacemaker. "But when they tried to leave the guy's taken a run at him and pushed him from behind." Eyewitnesses had earlier claimed the playmaker had been knocked unconscious by a single blow following an argument. But it is now understood the yob shoved him from behind and he was out cold after his head hit the deck. Our source added: "He couldn't get his hands out quickly enough to break his fall and he's cracked his head on the ground. "It was a really sore and he was knocked out for a bit." Ibrox pals Dorrans and Jack jetted off to Spain with their other halves after the end of the season last Sunday. Midfield ace Jack's wife Ashleigh shared a snap on social media at trendy Ocean Beach club in San Antonio just hours before the attack. She captioned it: "Jack / Dorrans take Ibiza". We told earlier how Dorrans had been caught on camera helping friend and teammate Jack on his feet when the ex-Aberdeen midfielder appeared to have enjoyed himself a little too much in the sunshine. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4283894/rangers-graham-dorrans-ibiza-home-glasgow-airport-attack/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1558709951

St Pats FC Statement JAMES McCafferty has pled guilty to offences he committed against young people between 1972 and 1996. Celtic Football Club wishes to express its regret and sorrow to those young people. McCafferty, who was employed by Celtic Football Club in the mid 1990s, committed these acts many years ago across a number of organisations, and all those who have come forward to report abuse and to give evidence deserve enormous praise for the courage they have shown. We offer our sincere sympathy to those young people, their families and all those involved. These are very sensitive issues, particularly for those who suffered abuse. When the allegations were published in the media in 2016, Celtic Football Club encouraged any individuals involved to report all information to the police so that these matters could be investigated fully and the Club continues to encourage any victim of abuse to report these matters to the police. Celtic Football Club takes all of its responsibilities seriously, stands by its responsibilities and will continue to do so. The abuse of children has affected many areas of society, including football clubs, sports clubs, youth organisations, educational institutions and religious bodies across Britain. Celtic Football Club strongly believes that children and young people involved in football have the right to protection from all forms of harm and abuse and is committed to ensuring this and to promoting their wellbeing through continued cooperation with our children and young people, parents and carers and the relevant authorities. Celtic Football Club was the first club in Scotland to appoint a safeguarding officer, responsible for developing our policies for the protection of young people, and monitoring and reviewing our procedures to ensure they continue to reflect best practice. http://www.celticfc.net/news/16219 -

More than 43,000 supporters had renewed for the new campaign by Monday night’s deadline, a record number. Rangers fans will be accommodated in the Broomloan Stand again next season for Old Firm matches, with only around 800 briefs made available to Celtic supporters. The current figure is up 5,000 on the same stage last season, when a subsequent public offering saw ticket sales hit an historic high of just over 45,000. That’s the number at which season tickets sales must be capped as a result of the Ibrox capacity of 50,000. The 45,000 barrier is expected to be smashed again in the coming days through the public sale, raking in around £20 million for the club. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-fans-back-steven-gerrard-16190261?1
