  5. Sons of Struth Yesterday at 12:18 · THE CALM AFTER THE STORM THE KIT DEAL SAGA Last week we witnessed an amazing amount of noise regarding Rangers kit deal and some amazing misinterpretations of truth. So much so that many of these inaccuracies had Rangers fans thinking some of these headlines and blogs must be true. Rangers fans were led to believe many things including, we won’t be using Hummel, we wouldn’t be able to buy kits, Rangers won’t have kit for next season and Sports Direct would be paid millions in costs. You can imagine why some were upset. The more calm among our support, who have unfortunately had many years of court cases to dissect, suggested that folk should wait until the case was finally settled before deciding if renegotiating the 7 year rolling contract and replacing it with a “normalised” deal that we eventually broke, was value for money or a waste of money. With the final figures still some way from being agreed, it’s difficult to say for sure but with this court order dated 19th July, it appears some folks fears may have been misplaced as the legal costs alone awarded to Sports Direct (£440k) are somewhat lower than plenty suggested. On first reading some may be cringing when they read paragraphs 6 and 7 of this order but once you’ve digested the whole document you will see allowances in the scary parts of 6/7 and Rangers will be able to register, order and sell kits next season despite the claims of many. So where are we with this? The court order states further court dates at the end of September which may be for SD to put forward their claim for damages, Rangers should then be given the opportunity to appeal this amount and then the judge will finally put a value on the award to SD. This could obviously take months and would probably be 2020 if you use previous cases as a barometer. Then and only then can a fair assessment of value take place. So far Rangers have paid £3m to normalise the 7 year deal, we received a £1.6m dividend shortly after normalising this deal and today we can see a legal bill for £444k. That means we are roughly £1.9m down plus a figure to be assessed by the judge for damages to SD for us doing a deal with Elite. The wise money is guessing this will be £1m. If this does turn out to be the figure then it will have cost Rangers just under£3m to bin a 7 year deal that was returning us zero profit. Wise men suggest this is around one years worth of kit income and hopefully the next 6 years make far more than we could have dreamt of from Ashley’s 7 year deal. We shall be patient waiting for the final outcome (probably next year) but it does look on the face of it that by being sued and allowing Rangers fans to buy kit for the first time in years, it’ll be ok in the long run. Just don’t tell the headline writers and crazy bloggers that. This court order is publicly available. I wonder why none of the MSM or distractor bloggers have put it out. https://www.facebook.com/SonsOfStruth/photos/pcb.2456138064617307/2456137967950650/?type=3&theater
  6. A PAIR of Rangers-daft pensioners have been left fuming after they were ordered to take down Lights Blues and Union Jack flags outside their home - over fears it would spark anti-social behaviour.Neighbours Duncan James, 74, and Joe Stirling, 71, were told by South Ayrshire Council to remove the tributes at their sheltered housing as they could “cause offence” to localsAnd the pair, of Troon, Ayrshire, urged the council to make a U-turn on the decision - as they said they’d never set out to offend anyone.Duncan blasted: “My wife died last year so all I have is Rangers and my dog.“It’s ridiculous they won’t let me put up a small flag outside my house“It’s so petty. I doubt I’d have been told to take it down if it was a flag for a smaller football team. And Joe fumed: “It’s completely over the top.”Pals Duncan - whose wife Isabelle, 75, died of a stroke last year - and Joe both live alone and next to each other.Ex-miner Duncan put up his Gers flag on the day Rangers started their Europa League qualifying campaign with a 4-0 win away at St Joseph’s in Gibraltar on 9 July.Joe - who has hung a Saltire and Lion Rampant from his window for five years - put up a Union Jack flag around the same time. But they were stunned when a council warden turned up to tell them to remove all the tributes as they could cause offenceIt’s believed it was prompted by a local resident asking if neighbours were allowed to have flags outside their home, but didn’t officially complain. They later received a council letter telling them to remove them immediately because it could lead to “possible inciting of anti-social behaviour.”It added it could see “Potential vandalism to your home or garden”, and that “Representation of football or other flags may cause offence and complaints.”And Duncan said: “I think it’s ridiculous. We follow a football team and it’s only for our benefit so I don’t see what the problem is.“We don’t drink and we don’t smoke, we just fly our flags and support our club, surely we’re entitled to do that.”Joe added: “We believe we should have these flags. We’re in here, living here in our seventies. We’re here until we pass away effectively. Are you telling me can’t even fly a couple of flags?”They’ve been backed by neighbours over the row.Duncan’s next door neighbour Elizabeth Smith, 77, said: “I think it’s a complete overreaction“I’ve not heard of anyone being offended by the flags. They certainly don’t offend me.A South Ayrshire Council spokesman said: “It was brought to the Council’s attention that a football club flag was displayed on Council owned property, this is discouraged.“Following the letter being issued, housing staff made the offer to meet with the tenant to discuss this further, but unfortunately this has been declined.“However, we are still hopeful that a meeting can take place.” https://www.scotsman.com/news/people/furious-scottish-pensioners-told-to-take-down-offensive-flags-by-council-1-4973794
  7. BEEB ROW BBC Scotland hit back at Club 1872 after Rangers fan group’s ‘baseless’ attack BBC SCOTLAND have hit back at Club 1872 after the Rangers fan group’s ‘baseless’ new attack on the corporation. Gers’ second biggest shareholder accused the Beeb of using a sectarian contributor who aimed ‘hate speech’ towards Light Blues supporters. In a lengthy statement, they said the Scottish Premiership giants continue to be treated unfairly by the broadcaster. The dispute between both parties relates to senior journalist Chris McLaughlin’s 2016 Ibrox ban and Beeb haven’t covered games in Govan since the row kicked off. A BBC Scotland spokesperson said: “Suggestions of bias and malicious reporting of Rangers are baseless. “We are accused of not covering the Everyone Anyone campaign – Rangers did not alert our news teams to the initiative. “And we note that the Club 1872 statement fails to reflect the fact that every complaint they have escalated to the BBC’s independent Executive Complaints Unit has been rejected, including the complaint about our contributors. “Impartiality lies at the heart of our reporting – to suggest otherwise is nothing more than unfounded speculation. “Rangers continue to operate an exceptional ban on one of our journalists which severely restricts our ability to report freely from Ibrox. “We have offered to return to Ibrox to provide match commentaries, while we try to find a permanent resolution to the overall dispute, but Rangers have said this is unacceptable. “We continue to speak with the club as, together, we seek to find a mutually agreeable solution to the current impasse.” In March, Rangers supporters gathered at BBC Scotland’s HQ to protest against their coverage of the club. They unleashed a banner blast which read: "Biased, bigoted, corrupt. DON'T FUND OUR HATERS. BBC, LICENCE TO LIE." Confirmation of the protest came less than a week after Gers PR chief Jim Traynor slammed the Beeb over their handling of a news interview with him. Just weeks earlier, BBC Scotland hit back at unfair coverage claims made by the club’s managing director Stewart Robertson. Reacting to Traynor’s criticism, they said: “We believe our piece was fair and accurate.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4546339/rangers-club-1872-bbc-scotland-statement-ban/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1564503582
