  1. Dundee chief John Nelms prepares to push for league reconstruction guarantee in bid to end SPFL vote impasse Under-fire Dundee managing director John Nelms is to push for a league reconstruction guarantee to help end Scottish football’s vote chaos. The SPFL remain hopeful that the Dark Blues can still be persuaded to back their plan to end the season below the Premiership. It hangs in the balance, waiting for Nelms and his board to make a decision. A photograph of a voting slip, signed by the American and dated Friday, has emerged as proof that the club had intended rejecting the league’s proposal. In a dramatic move, Dundee decided at the last minute to hang fire and now stand alone as the club that has the fate of the Championship, League One and League Two in their hands. The top flight have said yes, the third and fourth tiers likewise, leaving just the Championship to be decided. Seven clubs in that division have backed the resolution, including runaway leaders Dundee United, while Inverness Caley Thistle and Partick Thistle have said no. It needs eight to adopt the proposal. That all leaves Nelms being lobbied and it is understood no fewer than four SPFL board members held crisis talks with the American on Saturday, a clear indication that they think he is not necessarily a hard no vote. Courier Sport also believes Dundee won’t be saying anything publicly regarding their situation until the dust settles following a stormy few days. Their strategy going forward, though, appears to be to get a motion passed by the clubs that would give a written guarantee regarding reconstruction for the 2020-21 season, whenever that kicks off. The plan is believed to be for a 14-10-10-10 set-up that would see them stay in the Championship, with United and second-placed Inverness promoted. Dundee’s thinking is that it would benefit their own team in the long-term and that it would win the support of the required number of SPFL members. The problem of relegation from the top division would be solved as Hearts would stay up but the challenge will be persuading other Premiership sides to spread their income across an extra two clubs. It would, though, allow the millions of pounds’ worth of place money being held by the SPFL to be distributed to cash-starved teams with immediate effect and would give meaning and merit to the Dark Blues’ decision not to vote on Friday. Nelms, meanwhile, received some sympathy from Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor, whose club backed the SPFL plan. The Staggies chief said: “I am really sorry for Dundee and John Nelms. He is a fine man. “For whatever reason, they have decided to hold their position, which seems is what they’ve done, and I’m sure it will be for a genuine reason that will come out in due course. “For whatever reason, John felt he could maybe be more diplomatic and get a solution if his vote was the critical one. “It’s very difficult and I wouldn’t like to, as a club, be in that position now.” https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-fc/1261153/dundee-managing-director-john-nelms-prepares-to-push-for-league-reconstruction-guarantee-in-bid-to-end-spfl-vote-impasse/?utm_source=twitter
  2. Admin, I know the Sun & Record are banned but I feel this article is relevant to the thread, if not then delete. Roy MacGregor last night shot down accusations that the SPFL has been bullying its members. The Ross County chairman insists the claims by Rangers and their interim chairman Douglas Park are miles off his experience of dealing with the league. MacGregor has been sickened by the civil war that has erupted since Friday’s chaotic vote on whether to end the season now. Asked about the Ibrox outfit’s allegations of clubs being bullied, he said: “No. I don’t think that. We certainly didn’t get any and I’m not sure whether any of that happened. “There were talks and talks from all sides. “You will always get lobbying. You saw that from Scot Gardiner’s thing, that he was talking with his people, so I think that’s natural. “So unless there is anything to prove it was unnatural, we have to be really, really careful. “What it looks like is one club having a go at the other and suggesting the SPFL are being influenced by someone. “If there’s been anything Machiavellian going on, I don’t know about it. “Should there be an inquiry or Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie suspended? No. “I trust the board. The board is made up of clubs and members of clubs we have put on there. “We have trusted our decision-making to them and they work with the executive to come up with the conclusions. “If something is presented to the board that they feel an inquiry should happen and things have been happening, then yes. But at the moment clubs have to trust the board and the executive. “I feel particularly sad that we have got into this situation. It has been out of control. “When we have nearly a thousand people dying every day, to get down to the emotional stuff like this is quite sad.” MacGregor reckons it’s vital everyone calms down so Scottish football can plot a path to survival. He admits self-interest is inevitable when big decisions are being made, but reckons the vast majority of clubs also had others in mind. And MacGregor urged everyone to focus on what’s best for the game. He said: “Every club, to a degree, will have to have self-interest, but after that you have to be bigger, look at it and do what’s best for Scottish football. “And some of them are not putting that into the equation. “If we don’t have clarity, clubs get less money and income drops by 30 or 40 per cent. I hate to think what Scottish football will look like. “This is a massive challenge for all clubs. “Football is going to look very different for a while when this is over.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5486819/ross-county-roy-macgregor-rangers-spfl-resolution/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1586727149
  3. SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan today hit back at criticism of the under-fire governing body over their handling of the vote into a resolution on the end of the 2019/20 season. MacLennan has written to the 42 member clubs insisting that one Ladbrokes Championship club had failed to submit a vote before the requested 5pm deadline on Friday night. And he has stated that club - which is known to be Dundee - had later asked the SPFL for the voting slip it had unsuccessfully attempted to submit be disregarded if it was received. MacLennan also stressed that the SPFL were unable to make end-of-season payments to clubs - something which had been suggested in a resolution put forward by Rangers that was deemed not competent last week - before final league placings are determined. And he claimed that the Ibrox club, whose managing director Stewart Robertson sits on the SPFL board, had been offered help to draft an alternative resolution which was effective. MacLennan also defended the conduct of SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster and legal adviser Rod McKenzie in the wake of a call by Rangers to have them suspended pending an independent investigation into their stewardship of the vote. The Championship vote on the resolution currently stands at 7-2 and whichever way Dundee now vote will determine whether the entire resolution is passed or fails to be passed. The resolution calls for the current positions in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 to stand, clubs to be promoted and relegated and end-of-season fees to be distributed - and the board to have the power to make the same call in the Premiership at a later date. MacLennan also expressed his surprise that Rangers interim chairman Douglas Park had not shared the evidence tthe Ibrox club claim to possess about "bullying" in the build-up to the vote. "I am writing to you all to correct significant misinformation appearing in the media. This misinformation is damaging to Scottish football as a whole – and to each and every member club of the SPFL. "Several suggestions have been made in recent days about the treatment of a resolution requisition by Rangers FC, about fee payments to clubs, and about the votes cast by Ladbrokes Championship clubs. This letter is intended to set the record straight. "It has been suggested that the board rushed to get a resolution out to members. In fact, the dates and times of a number of recent SPFL board meetings were delayed specifically to ensure that one director had the time that he needed to be able to reach a decision. "The SPFL board spent around an hour discussing in great detail the resolution requisitioned by Rangers. Only then did the board, based on clear and unequivocal advice from a QC, determine that the resolution was not effective. "The Rangers director on the board confirmed that he was content with the time given over to that discussion. He was also offered the opportunity of the SPFL’s legal counsel Rod McKenzie working with Rangers’ Company Secretary on a resolution that might be effective. "To date, no further requisition has come forward from Rangers or from any other SPFL member." MacLennan continued: "It has been suggested that it is open to the SPFL board to distribute end-of-season fee payments to clubs now, in the absence of league placings being finalised. That is simply not the case. "For the board to be able to authorise end-of-season fee payments to clubs (amounting to £9.3million gross), final league placings must be determined. Those who have suggested that the SPFL may make such payments, without a line being drawn under Season 2019/20, are wrong. "Further, it has been suggested that all Ladbrokes Championship club votes were cast on Friday night. One Ladbrokes Championship club attempted to submit a voting slip, which did not reach the SPFL until late that evening. "Earlier, at 6pm on Friday, that club had confirmed in writing to the SPFL that any attempted vote from that club should not be considered as cast. "We have had a number of conversations with the chairman of that club over the weekend, in which he reiterated that his club had not yet voted on the SPFL resolution. The SPFL has proceeded on the basis of the unequivocal instruction from that club received at 6pm on Friday. "At the time of writing, 40 of our 42 clubs have voted, with one Ladbrokes Championship club and one Ladbrokes League 1/League 2 club yet to cast a vote on the SPFL resolution. They have the remainder of the 28-day period to do so, should they wish. The current level of support for the board resolution is 85% of clubs in favour. "I have seen allegations made by the Rangers FC interim chairman Douglas Park, in a statement issued by Rangers at 3pm on Saturday, about the SPFL, its corporate governance, its culture, its office-bearers and its business operations. "I wrote to Mr Park on Saturday evening, requesting any material to support these allegations. I regret to inform you that, at the time of writing, I have received nothing from Mr Park. It is difficult to understand why Mr Park should not wish to share this alleged material with me. "I am entirely satisfied, based on all the information at my disposal, that the SPFL and its executives and legal advisers have acted wholly properly at every stage in this process. "Should any member club have evidence to the contrary they should bring it to me – indeed, I would argue they have a duty to do so – and I will deal with it in an entirely even-handed way. To do otherwise is harmful to the standing, performance and effective operation of the SPFL and runs counter to the wider interests of our game." https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/18375585.spfl-chairman-reveals-championship-club-asked-resolution-vote-not-considered/
  4. What about Dundee FC? what are they playing at? if they have been gotten at, which seems to be the case, surely they have to be severely dealt with for their part in this regarding their silence? unless of course they are the whistle blowers?. All rather confusing. I can't see any way back for the current SPFL with Rangers calling for an investigation, how long will that take?.
  5. Bumped the wrong one ?, meant to bump this,
  6. All these same clubs tried to kill Rangers and failed, with the same tactics that are being used by SPFL now, so I do not care about any other club, haven't since they all attempted to kill us. Hopefully this is the start of the rats that run Scottish football being flushed out.
  7. Thanks to you Stevie, laying it out as it is, excellent work
  8. This is a must read, excellent from 4lads again
