Agreed, however Boyd will score goals if other players are creating chances, and in the Scotland team there are not a lot of chances created normally, whereas Miller can play the sole striker position better if only for nuisance value, who can also work a back four and maybe sneak a goal, this is not Boyds strentgh

The one thing i see in our team just now is a physical presence, can't see us being intimidated by a bunch of thugs, i'm very confident going into this match, can see us getting a win over there, not saying it's going to be easy but we will win.

SPL back Celtic fans By Jamie Murdoch Last Updated: 1:05am BST 22/08/2007 The Scottish Premier League insist there would be no justification for an investigation into the conduct of Celtic supporters at Aberdeen. Scottish football fans' forum It was reported that Celtic fans had been involved in sectarian chanting during Sunday's 3-1 win at Pittodrie and that the SPL were set to act. However, Celtic maintained that was not the case and the SPL have revealed that the match delegate's report praised the travelling fans. advertisement One Hoops supporter was arrested after being picked out by a Celtic steward, but the Parkhead club stress it was an isolated incident of "unacceptable conduct". A spokesperson for the SPL said: "The SPL have no plans whatsoever to investigate the behaviour of Celtic fans at Sunday's match and at no time have we suggested that we might do so. "Indeed the delegate's report complimented the behaviour of the Celtic fans and Celtic security procedures." Meanwhile, Rangers manager Walter Smith believes Thomas Buffel could make his comeback from injury in three weeks' time. The Belgian midfielder, who was a £2.3million signing from Feyenoord in 2005, has been out with long-term knee problems for most of the year. "With the right progression he will be playing within three weeks or so," said Smith. Telegraph

RAGING Red Star Belgrade captain Ognjen Koroman has warned Rangers defender Alan Hutton to expect the beating of his life in next week's Champions League return tie. Hutton complained about the rough tactics employed by the Serbs at Ibrox. But Koroman, who was booked after clashing with Hutton, said: "Rangers didn't have a single thread of fair play in them. While Djordjevic was down on the ground they didn't kick the ball out and in the tunnel they used cheap tricks to try to provoke us. "David Weir also hit Raskovic in the head from the back. How more rude and arrogant can someone get? You can tell Alan that he doesn't even need to leave Glasgow because if he does he will get the beating of his life." You've got to laugh

Agreed mate,my point exactly

Agreed, been saying that for ages as has a few other gersnetters. When we have the first team playing well then IMO the guys that are being left out should be playing regular football in the reserves and let the young guys play in the youth teams so they are trying to get into the reserves and play alongside the experienced players which in turn will make their first step into the first squad a little less daunting after being surrounded by first team players in the reserves................ er!!! if you know what i mean

I hope the that the fans haven't given up on Burke already, everything that has been said on here about him is correct, however let's not be too quick to disgard him, he has talent, he has struggled with injuries, but he is still young and he has just signed a new contract. The way the team has started this season all the players that have been left out have a fight on their hands to get into the side, exactly how it should be IMO,so let's hope that the wee man gets back to his best which will only be good for the GERS !!
-
What is clear is that WS saw what we needed, players who will fight for the team, now that he has signed this type of players the likes of Buffel & Burke really have to prove themselves now to get considered for a start

Well done Alan Hutton,overdue IMO

KIRK BROADFOOT knows more than a few eyebrows were raised when Walter Smith plucked him from Paisley and made him a Rangers player. Now the cynics are more likely to be nodding their head in appreciation after seeing the former St Mirren star slot into three different roles in as many matches and performwell in each of them. Broadfoot might have made his name as a centre-half at Love Street but he's been used at right-back, left-back and on Saturday against Falkirk he added left-midfield to his collection after coming on as a sub and pitching in with a goal during the 7-2 rout of John Hughes' men. The 23-year-old admits he is loving every minute of it and insists he never had any doubts that he could make the jump from a provincial outfit to one of the Old Firm giants. Particularly when the captain of the club, Barry Ferguson, went out of his way to make him feel welcome. Broadfoot believes the togetherness of the squad is a major reason for Rangers' sensational start to the season and for his own promising start to his Ibrox career. The former Scotland Under-21 defender said: "When I arrived I wasn't daunted by it, I relished the challenge. If you don't relish it you're at the wrong place. If you go out onto the pitch scared you've failed straight away. Advertisement "I know it's going to get harder as more players come back from injury. But when I arrived I didn't feel overawed. "Barry Ferguson helped me settle right away. When the club captain does that it's great, but it is a bit like starting any new job because it takes time to get to know everyone." Broadfoot's ability to play just about anywhere can make him a regular on the park or on the bench - and with players like Brahim Hemdani, DaMarcus Beasley, Ian Murray, Charlie Adam, Filip Sebo and Alan Gow sitting in the stand at the weekend, he knows the competition has never been tougher. He said: "This is the biggest squad I've seen. There are 30 players who could come into the first team and do a job. "The Under-21 rule takes three off straight away but it's a battle to make the bench now, never mind the starting line-up." Broadfoot was delighted with the victory over Falkirk, which stretched Rangers' run of victories at home and in Europe to six since the start of the campaign. He was particularly happy to notch his first goal for the club, particularly as his own fan club was sitting in the stand. He said: "That's my first goal for Rangers. I'm a Rangers fan so to score for Rangers at Ibrox is a dream come true. "My mum and dad were at the game along with four of my friends. When I switched my phone on there were quite a few text messages with people congratulating me. It was a good day all round to be honest." The defender was delighted to see the strikers do the business, with Daniel Cousin and Jean-Claude Darcheville grabbing two goals each and Kris Boyd making a welcome return to the scoresheet. He said: "Danny came in from the start and did very well. Once he starts speaking English he'll be even better. "He doesn't understand anything really but his knowledge of the game shows. "Kris and Darche then came off the bench to score too so it's pleasing. I think as a squad we're starting to gel." Interesting interview, sorry if it's old news but working overseas,i was just wondering what the fans are thinking about him as i've not seen much of him

Red Star coach Milorad Kosanovic Red Star Scrape Win RANGERS chief scout Ewan Chester watched Champions League rivals Red Star Belgrade struggle to a 1-0 win at the weekend. Ognjen Koroman, Red Star BelgradeSkipper Ognjen Koroman scored the only goal of the game against lowly Smederevo three minutes before half-time but it was a difficult game for the Serbian champions. Red Star fielded largely the same side that lost to Rangers last week although vice-captain Dusan Basta was back in. Coach Milorad Kosanovic was far from pleased. He said: "We should have put more effort into the game. The game was open from the kick-off, as Smederevo proved to be a willing partner. "I could tell that my guys were a little tired, losing concentration on occasion and committing unusual errors, all of which made our main goal of winning all three points that much harder to achieve. "We lacked speed and were often sluggish to get back in defence. On the plus side, we were good down the Ewan Chesterflanks and managed to create a number of scoring opportunities. "I have given the lads time off until Monday evening. I am tempted to extend their mini-break, in view of the fact that they have played three hard, competitive, matches in only seven days. "I would like to think that the mistakes we saw in our game at the weekend were on account of exhaustion; otherwise, we might have a big problem on our hands." Rangers will have Red Star watched again next weekend when they play Hajduk Kula away from home ahead of the crucial second leg in Belgrade on August 28.

Boyd loves playing for the GERS and i for one hope he continues to play for us,as that will mean he'll be scoring,he won't be far away from top scorer in the SPL this season again, especially as we have a more attacking team now.
-
Yup,agree with that,I thought he might have got stronger with age/experience,still time to do that but i doubt it
-
When was the last time you heard of three subs coming on and scoring ?,great result,i also hear our odds have been cut to joint fav. with the tic, exciting season ahead me thinks !!
-
Isn't it just superb how we are now talking about who to leave out !!!,you can see all the players want to play and that is what has been missing for a few years now, looking good.
-
Great to see the scoring being spread out amongst the new signings,Falkirks first was a cracker, also pleased for Boyd, this team could just get better and better,BRING IT ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Great question mate, and when you put it like that then i would rather have two for the price of one, i would still have liked to seen Brown at Ibrox but we needed to strengthen the whole squad and IMO Walter has done that, qualify for CL and we will see another couple of signings, once he gets rid of a few players
-
Much as i would love other results to go our way,the old cliche, win our own games first, still applies.I think it will be another tight game today as Falkirk are a good football team, however it's at Ibrox and if we have any intention of winning anything then these are the games we MUST WIN,so i'm expecting a good 2 or 3-0 win today, NOTHING LESS THAN A WIN !!!!!!!!!

Irish international Ian Harte hopes to have a new club sorted within the next week. The former Leeds left-back has just left Spanish side Levante and is now locked in talks with a number of prospective employers. Sunderland and Celtic are said to be heading the chase for the 29-year-old. Talks "I'm flying back to England on Sunday or Monday and I will hopefully have a few offers on the table by then," Harte told The Irish Daily Star. "My aim is to get a club move sorted as quickly as possible. Then I can see about nailing down a place in Steve Staunton's squad for the rest of the Euro 2008 qualifiers." Never realised that he was only 29,a decent left back IMO

Hearts are closing on a deal for Leicester's Stephen Hughes, assistant coach Stephen Frail has confirmed. The former Rangers midfielder was a target for Motherwell earlier this summer but it appears The Jambos will be bringing him back to Scotland. Hearts are awaiting news on a medical and Hughes could put pen-to-paper in time for him to feature against Gretna on Saturday. "We are hopeful a deal will be done, but no deal has been done yet," Frail told the club's official website. "There are a few days to go in the window. "Maybe it will be done before the close of play today (Friday). It is an ongoing one, and it would be a boost to the squad if we managed to bring him in." This is one player i thought would have made it at Ibrox
