  1. Teams level on points are separated by: 1) The results of games between the teams in the tie (if tied, by goal difference and then by away goals counting double). 2) Goal difference in all group games. 3) Highest number of goals scored in all games. 4) Highest Uefa ranking over the previous five seasons. Get this content on your MOBILE UEFA Champions League : Group A Table 28 November 2007 21:38 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 FC Porto 5 2 2 1 6 7 -1 8 2 Marseille 5 2 1 2 6 5 1 7 3 Liverpool 5 2 1 2 14 5 9 7 4 Besiktas 5 2 0 3 4 13 -9 6 Put simply, if Liverpool beat Marseille in their final group game then they will definitely go through. If they lose they will definitely go out. Complications arise should Liverpool and Marseille draw. Marseille beat Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the campaign, meaning they would edge the Reds out on the basis of that result, assuming Porto beat or draw with Besiktas in the group's other match. But if Liverpool and Marseille draw and Besiktas pull off a shock by beating Porto, the Reds would go through. In this scenario, Liverpool, Marseille and Porto would all be on eight points. Liverpool would go through with the best goal difference in the head-to-head matches between the three teams. UEFA Champions League : Group B Table 28 November 2007 21:36 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Chelsea 5 3 2 0 9 2 7 11 2 Rosenborg 5 2 1 2 5 7 -2 7 3 Schalke 04 5 1 2 2 2 3 -1 5 4 Valencia 5 1 1 3 2 6 -4 4 Chelsea are definitely through as group winners, regardless of the result of their final match against a Valencia side who cannot progress. A home win against Rosenborg will be enough for Schalke to join the Blues in the last 16, but the Norwegian side would go through with a point away from home. UEFA Champions League : Group C Table 28 November 2007 21:39 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Real Madrid 5 2 2 1 10 8 2 8 2 Olympiakos 5 2 2 1 8 7 1 8 3 Werder Bremen 5 2 0 3 8 10 -2 6 4 Lazio 5 1 2 2 7 8 -1 5 All four teams can still qualify but Real Madrid and Olympiakos will be favourites as they are at home to the bottom two teams in the last matches and a draw would be enough for either to qualify. Bremen will qualify only if they win at Olympiakos. Lazio will be sure of qualification if they win in Madrid but Bremen do not win in Greece. If Bremen do win in Greece, Lazio would have to win by at least two goals in Madrid to go through. UEFA Champions League : Group D Table 28 November 2007 21:39 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 AC Milan 5 3 1 1 11 5 6 10 2 Celtic 5 3 0 2 5 5 0 9 3 Shakhtar Donetsk 5 2 0 3 5 9 -4 6 4 Benfica 5 1 1 3 3 5 -2 4 AC Milan have sealed their place in the last 16 and a draw at home to Celtic in the last game will take them through in first place. A draw would also take Celtic through, but if the Scots lose in Milan, they will miss out on the knockout stages if Shakhtar beat Benfica at home. That would leave Celtic and Shakhtar on nine points, but the Ukrainians would go through on head-to-head having beaten Celtic 2-0 at home and lost only 2-1 at Parkhead. Celtic will top the group if they win in the San Siro. UEFA Champions League : Group E Table 27 November 2007 21:37 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Barcelona 5 3 2 0 9 2 7 11 2 Rangers 5 2 1 2 7 6 1 7 3 Lyon 5 2 1 2 8 10 -2 7 4 VfB Stuttgart 5 1 0 4 6 12 -6 3 Barcelona will go through as group winners, and Rangers will join them in the last 16 if they draw or beat Lyon at home in the final group match. Rangers won 3-0 in Lyon earlier in the competition so a draw at Ibrox would put them through thanks to a better head-to-head record against the French team. UEFA Champions League : Group F Table 27 November 2007 21:40 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Man Utd 5 5 0 0 12 3 9 15 2 Roma 5 3 1 1 10 5 5 10 3 Sporting 5 1 1 3 6 8 -2 4 4 Dynamo Kiev 5 0 0 5 4 16 -12 0 Manchester United have taken first place in the group and Roma have secured the second spot. PSV must beat Inter at home and hope Fenerbahce fail to beat bottom-of-the-table CSKA in Turkey to take the second place. UEFA Champions League : Group H Table 27 November 2007 21:38 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Sevilla 5 4 0 1 11 7 4 12 2 Arsenal 5 3 1 1 12 3 9 10 3 Slavia Prague 5 1 2 2 5 13 -8 5 4 Steaua Bucharest 5 0 1 4 3 8 -5 1 Arsenal and Sevilla have both qualified for the last 16, with Slavia Prague taking a place in the Uefa Cup. Arsenal will finish top of the group if they beat Steaua Bucharest at home and Sevilla fail to win in Prague in the last group games.

Third Division outfit East Stirling have been handed a lucrative tie against Rangers, with the minnows making the trip to Ibrox. 7. Four Rangers youths have been included in the Scotland squad for tonights Victory Shield decider against England at the Falkirk stadium. Following the under 16 3-0 victory in Northern Ireland, three weeks ago,Ross Mathies youngsters will win the trophy if they beat the auld enemy. But the English will retain the silverware if they avoid defeat. Gers quartet Darren Cole,Gordon Dick,Kai Naysmith and Max Wright are all hoping to play some part in tonights game
  8. The police raided Redknapps house while he was travelling back from Germany after watching Stuttgart v Rangers game !!!!!!!!!!!!,wonder if it was a certain rightback he was watching ?

  11. Exclusive RANGERS fear DaMarcus Beasley is out for the rest of the season. The 25-year-old American midfielder suffered a sickening knee injury during Tuesday's Champions League clash in Stuttgart. Rangers' mood was black enough after their 3-2 defeat but scans have shown the damage to Beasley's knee to be worse than first thought. He was crocked in a second-half collision with keeper Raphael Schafer and yesterday's checks revealed his ligaments had been badly damaged. Manager Walter Smith was given the news that it looks like he will have to do without Beasley for the remainder of the campaign. Beasley's setback comes just as his form was beginning to improve and his loss will be a serious blow to Rangers' hopes at home and abroad. But there was better news concerning Lee McCulloch, who was taken off in the first half, also holding a knee. His problem was easing yesterday and although Rangers expect him to miss Saturday's home match with Kilmarnock, he should be able to train again at the beginning of next week. McCulloch, though, is refusing to accept his injury could keep him out of action even for one match. He is determined to prove the Ibrox medics wrong by reporting fit for the Killie game.
  12. The tide is indeed turning, which was always going to happen, but i'm just glad that we the Rangers fans have worked hard to sort out our problems and it was only a matter of time before the unwashed get exposed for what they really are.
  13. But is it not a case of getting a great and unexpected start to the CL,then the fans expectations rise ?.In reallity when the draw was made nobody expected too much apart from maybe squeezing third spot,we have sceured european football and could easily have beat Stuttgart and still go to the last game,so IMO we have had a good run and achieved a lot and could get the result we need against Lyon, but if we don't I certainly don't think it's been anything but exciting and rewarding with some great games and results. At the start of the season all we wanted was to qualify for the CL,apart from the money, but also to enjoy a couple of good european nights at Ibrox and i've certainly enjoyed them and it's not finished, bring on Lyon for another great CL night at Ibrox
  14. Rangers are rumoured to be one of several clubs targeting South Korean international Kim Jung-woo. The midfielder, who starred at the Asian Cup in July this year, is in search of greener pastures after spending the last two seasons at Nagoya Grampus Eight. The 25-year-old told Junichi Sports he could be leaving the J-League club at the end of the year and wants to impress in his final home game against Yokohama FC. Exit "This could be the last home game I play in Japan," he said. "I want to finish on a high note." Kim's management company, FS Corporation, revealed that numerous clubs are keeping tabs on the player's situation but declined to name them. "Including the K-League and European teams, we have received offers from five different countries," a company spokesperson told the Japanese media. Apart from Rangers, other clubs believed to be interested in the player are Anderlecht, Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma and Ulsan Hyundai.
  15. He's also very comfortable with the ball at his feet,Klos wasn't,and he does come off his line, Klos never did,he's certainly going in the right direction and IMO is as good as Gordon if not better

  21. Eight Brazil football fans killed Several people fell through a hole which appeared in the upper stands At least eight people have died after part of a stadium in north-eastern Brazil collapsed towards the end of a football match, police say. A number of people fell through a gaping hole in one of the highest areas of the stands at the Fonte Nova stadium in the city of Salvador in Bahia. Fans were celebrating the promotion of their team to the second division. Salvador is a candidate to stage matches at the 2014 World Cup, awarded last month to Brazil. Wild celebrations The accident at the Fonte Nova stadium happened when an elevated section of the concrete stand gave way just 10 minutes before the end of the game between Bahia and Vila Nova - a team from the nearby state of Goias. Those killed fell to their death from at least 40m (130ft) Images from the scene showed a gaping hole and a drop of at least 40m (130ft) to the street below. Several hundred fans were in the area of the accident, jumping up and down in celebration, as Bahia looked likely to secure the 0-0 draw that would guarantee them promotion. Around 60,000 people were reported to be in the stadium and many were unaware of the tragedy until after the game had finished. The match finished 0-0, prompting supporters to invade the pitch in celebration. The governor of Bahia state, Jacques Wagner, ordered the closure of the stadium while the authorities investigate the causes of the accident. Many of the football stadiums in Brazil are old and need repair and the stadium in Salvador is believed to have opened in 1951, although it underwent a refurbishment some 20 years later, our correspondent says. If the city is chosen to stage matches at the 2014 World Cup tournament, there are plans to build a new stadium.
  22. I don't think you get an easy group these days, quite right, however we have shown we can at least compete with the best so if we can keep our level of recent performances thenwe should fear no-one
